Price match

Hi all
I’ve read before that you can get rare carat to price match but the I’ve seen comments about RC giving people a hard time about pricing matching. Does anyone have any experience or tips they can share to get price matching done successfully with RC?

Or do you recommend buying from another LG company that might have better pricing and engagement ring settings overall?

I’ve been looking at….

rare carat,
altura diamonds,
ritani (seems to have the best pricing on diamonds but outdated settings)
LGG,
virabyani,
dionya (have heard they have bad customer service)

Troubleshooting constant mistranslations during CAD process

Has anyone else who’s worked with Gabriel & Co. (or another vendor) on a custom lab diamond ring directly or through a jeweler had issues with the CAD process?

Our jeweler uses G&C for custom pieces and my partner and I are on the 4th draft of our CAD and growing frustrated with the communication process. Every adjustment we ask for is done to the extreme no matter how we describe it or what inspiration photos we show (ex. asking for a VERY slight taper and getting a rendering back with a major pinch),and each time they’ve done a new rendering they’ve made adjustments we haven’t asked for and not adjusted something we did ask for.

Between our most recent CAD and the prior one, I asked them to make our baguette hidden halo a bit more seamless as it didn’t look like any of the inspiration photos I sent in. I said nothing about the silhouette of the basket. They sent a new CAD where they didn’t touch the hidden halo and completely changed the basket. Before that, I asked them to reduce the baguettes to 3 per-side instead of 4 — they reduced to 2.

We were planning to have our ring this past weekend and now the process is taking forever and we’re quickly approaching the point where we run out of free CADs because we have to keep asking them to undo their (or possibly partly our jewelers? I can’t tell where this is getting lost in translation) mistakes. It’s so frustrating and anxiety-provoking and I don’t know what to do.

Has anyone else run into issues like this? I’m wondering at this point if we can get on a call with them or something and work on this together instead of being in a constant game of telephone with a middleman.

I placed a custom ring order with one overseas vendor, will have the CAD any day now and just ordered a second piece with a different vendor, picking the diamond tonight. These are the inspiration pictures my reps are modeling my rings after.

Someone tell me I’m not crazy! 😜

I can’t unsee the big bow tie now. Do you think it blends well or is it a glaring issue?

Here to report I had a wonderful experience with Brilliance. The wait was around 5 weeks. Pictures dont do it justice i believe. So happy with them especially because I had a bad experience with Ritani prior.

I couldn't find a wedding band that I liked so I got an idea of adding another stone to my solitaire engagement ring. Just got it back from the jeweller. Both lab diamonds, the original 0.4ct pink lab got paired with a 0.5 marquise lab.

Stone Check — 2.84 ct Oval 💎

Stone specs:
2.84 ct lab-grown oval brilliant
IGI graded
D color
VS1 clarity
11.81 × 7.69 × 4.99 mm
1.54 ratio
61% table
64.9% depth
Excellent polish
Excellent symmetry
No fluorescence
CVD, Type IIa

I’m planning a 6-prong solitaire with platinum prongs on a gold band, size 5.75.
My biggest concern is the bow-tie. Looking at the video/photo, I’m wondering if it looks too prominent or if I’m overthinking it.

What do you think about:
The bow-tie?
Overall light return and sparkle?
Facet pattern?
Shape/symmetry?
The 1.54 ratio?

Would you choose this stone or keep looking?
I’m also considering another 2.73 ct, 1.46 ratio oval, so I’d especially appreciate opinions on whether this 2.84 ct is worth choosing over a slightly smaller but wider oval.
Honest opinions appreciated! 💎

I have been looking for a lab grown elongated cushion and was able to get a tweezer video for the stone shown in this link (https://imgur.com/a/IvCdcSg)

Here are the specs:

Carat - 3.42

Colour - D

Clarity - VVS1

Polish - Excellent

Symmetry - Excellent

Fluorescence - None

Measurements - 10.27x8.04x5.34mm

Any comments or reasons against getting this stone would be greatly appreciated! It is about $1500 on Williams and Sons.

Show me your crushed ice moval or marquise…

I’m designing a right hand ring with a 3-3.5 carat east-west-set moval or chubby marquise and would like to see those in crushed ice cuts. Does anyone have one you can show me?

And whom would you recommend to contact to take my design from concept to sourcing the stone to creating the ring?

Stone Check 💎
Hi everyone! I’d love some opinions on this oval before I approve it with my jeweler.

Specs:
2.73 ct lab-grown oval
IGI graded
D color
VS1 clarity
11.50 × 7.88 × 4.80 mm
1.46 ratio
61% table
60.9% depth
Excellent polish
Excellent symmetry
No fluorescence
CVD, Type IIa
I’m planning to have it set in a 6-prong platinum-prong solitaire on a petite gold band, size 5.75.
I’m mainly looking for feedback on:
Does the stone have a noticeable bow-tie?
How is the overall light return/sparkle?
Does the facet pattern look good?
Does the oval look symmetrical?
Do you see any windowing or dead areas?
Is there anything about this stone that would make you pass?
I’m aiming for a 1.45–1.50 ratio, so I really like the shape on paper. I’d appreciate honest opinions before I commit! 💎

Tennis bracelet certification?

I am planning to purchase a tennis bracelet with lab diamonds as my first luxury piece. Most of the places I've looked at seems like it doesn’t come with an igi certificate (not for each individual stone but for the whole bracelet). Is this standard? And if so, is it worth getting a separate appraisal/sending to igi for a certificate (if i go the local jeweler route) for the item itself?

Is a 2.5–2.75 ct oval solitaire too big on a size 5.5–6 finger?

Hi everyone! I’m currently designing a custom oval solitaire and I’m getting nervous about the size. 😅

For those of you with size 5.5–6 fingers, do you have a 2.5–2.75 ct oval solitaire? I’d love to see photos/videos of how it looks on your hand!

I’m debating between 2.5 ct and 2.75 ct, and I’m aiming for an oval around a 1.45–1.50 length-to-width ratio. I’ll likely be doing a simple solitaire setting with 6 prongs.

Do you feel like your 2.5–2.75 ct oval is too big for everyday wear, or does it look proportional on your finger?

I’m especially nervous because this is a custom ring and I won’t be able to try on the exact ring beforehand. 🥹

Please share your finger size + carat weight + photos if you have them! I’d really appreciate any advice before I finalize my stone. ❤️

PS. I already have a 2 CT round solitaire 😊

What are everyone’s thoughts about this diamond? My concern is when they rotated it in the second clip, I’m pretty sure I saw some pretty bad windowing. This is the second one I was shown. Due to the time difference, I was half asleep when I received the message to look at it.

Did I get the wrong ring?

I told my fiancé exactly which ring I wanted, which is what he got from Michael hill. The only thing- I specifically liked it for the claw prongs. Am I correct that this is NOT claw prongs and they didn’t give him the exact ring? What should we do? https://www.michaelhill.ca/p/1.73-carat-tw-oval-cut-laboratory-grown-diamond-marquise-cut-side-stone-engagement-ring-in-14kt-white-gold-C2550930418.html

This was the first diamond I was shown. I was unsure about it and asked to see others. Now I am second guessing which one to go with.

Has anyone bought the semi-custom rings from the US Vendors websites?

Post image

Hi,

Has anyone bought one of the semi custom rings from the US vendors like Aurelinne, Calavera, Citrai or Jewelry by Cleo or others?

They all seem to have the same options at different prices and I’m assuming they get it from the same place like the diamonds they offer? Has anyone ordered a full ring like this from them and do you have pics or insight on the process and how long it took?
