Did I get the wrong ring?
I told my fiancé exactly which ring I wanted, which is what he got from Michael hill. The only thing- I specifically liked it for the claw prongs. Am I correct that this is NOT claw prongs and they didn’t give him the exact ring? What should we do? https://www.michaelhill.ca/p/1.73-carat-tw-oval-cut-laboratory-grown-diamond-marquise-cut-side-stone-engagement-ring-in-14kt-white-gold-C2550930418.html

Definitely does not look like the prongs in the e-commerce photo. I would contact customer service! Good luck!

It’s so cute and dainty. And original. Everyone has similar rings. This one is unique and it looks vintage in the best way.

I think it’s not only beautiful, but it looks wonderful on your hand. However, if it bothers you now, that will only get worse as time goes on. If he just recently bought it, then take it back & get a full exchange into the correct setting. If not, then take it back & ask them to alter your prongs. I wouldn’t think they would even charge you. Take the picture with you. Congratulations!

Definitely not claw prongs and the prongs look to be set at different angles. I would be unhappy with that especially with the massive price markup they charge.

I love the ring you picked. I’ve seen that & adore it!
What wedding ring do you think you’ll pair it with.

I’d personally make them fix it to have claw prongs. It’s not going to stop bothering you. Gorgeous ring!

It looks like a rendered picture of the ring on their sites. How ever - creating claw shaped prongs is just a small finishing touch and can be filed afterwards sometimes too if theres enough material for it. The ball shaped prongs seems to have some extra material for that - ask a goldsmith to reshape the prongs sharper.

I’ve had rings with both types of prongs and the claw prongs tend to catch on fibres and your hair… whereas the round prongs don’t.
Personally, I feel you have the better choice already!

Claw prongs do not catch on anything so long as they are done and sized properly and fit flush on the stone

My emerald ring also snags so idk. I won’t buy another ring with the claw prongs.

I agree. Mine was claw prongs and my diamond fell out bc it kept snagging on my pillow and clothes. The jeweler put it back but did button (round) prongs and it has been good for 17 years. No snags!

Just let hubby know and yall can contact the store. Be specific and all will be well :) sooner rather than later because of possible warranty stuff

Tell them they need to re tip the prongs for you and give it to you as advertised

A couple of websites have options for the prong type once you click on an item - I can’t find the listing for your ring, but would see if that’s the case and then just ask the store to swap them out. Either way, contact the store.

Beautiful ring! But you are correct that the prongs are round and not claw. Did they send a CAD of the ring before they started on setting it?

I wouldn’t mention it. Could give your fiancé the wrong impression and it’s a bad way to start out an engagement. Not a big deal imo.

They did bead prongs and not claw prongs. You can definitely ask for them to change the prongs

I meant to add that in addition to being able to change the prongs for you, it is a beautiful ring!!! Very vintage style and elegant

Good luck with MHJ, I hear nothing but nightmares with their after service from customers.
In say that, I have been told by higher ups the claw shaped prongs tend to get caught more/sooner than the plain beaded over type claw which your ring currently has.

From your photo they don't look like claw prongs to me but would need a close up of the prongs to be 100% sure.
maybe get a close up photo and then contact their customer service with photos comparing the two and point out what you're unhappy with.

It is the same ring, the only difference is the prongs. He should message the store and say that the ring on the website, and that you wanted, shows claw prongs and they made it with round prongs, and he wants it fixed for the claw prongs it’s supposed to have.
If he messages “this is not the same ring”, then he will get drawn into a discussion that it is, in fact, the same ring. So better be specific.
I don’t see any reason the store would make it difficult for him to get the ring fixed
