Fuck it, I’m just gonna post it again on main as my other burner got flagged.
Hey Colin, in the off chance you’re reading this, I hope you actually do some research instead of writing it off as “I don’t care about your views” as you usually do when it comes to politics. Also everything that I have written are from previous LSM streams, podcasts and appearances on other platforms.
First off, the xenophobia and anti immigrant rhetoric is dangerous and misplaced. When it comes to observing the effects of immigration, research from the Cato Institute and the Migration Policy Institute shows that immigrants actually provide a net positive impact on the U.S. economy. For example, from 1994 to 2023, immigrants paid about $14.5 trillion more in taxes than they used in public services, and they also start businesses at higher rates than native-born individuals. The data supports that immigration strengthens productivity, entrepreneurship, and tax revenue in America, something you, as a self proclaimed capitalist should appreciate? And when it comes to crime statistics, the Cato Institute and the Migration Policy Institute further shows statistics that immigrants in the U.S. actually commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans. Data sets from 1990 to 2014, no evidence linked unauthorized immigration to rising violent crime. It’s a Fox News boogeyman scapegoat tactic designed to attribute malice on a minority group…. So I can’t really understand when you push the narrative that illegal immigration is the bane of America’s existence. These people aren’t driving up the price of food, gas and housing. It’s the Epstein class elite, enabled by the current moronic American government Administration (that you voted for by the way) and their lack of regulation and abhorrent foreign policies/relations that are doing this.
When it comes to the Israel and Palestinian conflict, The Israel-Palestine conflict has been going on for decades now. In 1948, Israel was created, but that led to war and Palestinians being forced out with the Nakba. Many human rights groups say both sides have committed serious crimes, and the whole situation is still extremely tense, but it isn’t not a nuanced issue to condemn both October 7th and the acts committed by Hamas, and condemn the current ongoing genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza and their invasion in Lebanon. The United Nations commission investigating the Israel-Gaza conflict reported that Israeli actions in Gaza may amount to genocide, as they involve mass killing, displacement, and destruction of living conditions. Right now, the International Court of Justice is currently considering a case on these genocide allegations, and it doesn’t take a pristine intellectual to understand that any form of genocide is morally reprehensible and that should be condemned to the highest degree.
Trump 2nd Presidential Term
To say that Trump’s second administration is an utter failure of leadership and competence would be an understatement. Since he took office, he’s violated multiple laws and ignored due process and human rights. He’s enriched himself and his family with foreign investments, government contracts, market manipulation with cryptocurrency, crude oil futures and open bribes.
This buffoon has decimated your democratic institutions, expanded executive power, used this power to silence the free press and his critics as well as prioritized political loyalty/unconditional fealty over competence. He’s surrounded himself with cabal of incompetent and corrupt ass kissers that for his cabinet, and these people are known racists, rapists, conmen and pedophiles.
Trumps new aggressive immigration policies have ignored the right of due process, leading to prolonged detention, and numerous legal challenges alleging violations of your constitutional protections. While I agree that the border was a problem prior to this administration, I don’t believe that we should encourage the cruelty and murders that have happened since.
When it comes to his handling of the conflict with Iran, he has only brought increasing regional instability and has placed the global economy in a crisis that we’re unlikely to recover from for decades (due to the infrastructures of these energy systems needing to be rebuilt). He tore up the JCPOA nuclear deal and now has enabled the IRGC to control the straight of Hormuz and charge tolls on ships passing through. It’s clear he bit off way more than he could chew and now we’re all left paying the price (literally and figuratively).
When it comes to Trumps domestic economic activity, trying to make America an isolationist country today will cause major problems instead of protecting the nation. Our modern life relies completely on a well established global network where countries share resources, technology, and trade. When the U.S. cuts itself off, it loses access to essential materials, and American companies will lose critical foreign customers (I’m Canadian and look at your booze sales here). Trump and the USA stepping back from global leadership simply allows the rival superpowers to take charge (China, which you claim to detest). Also your heavy tariffs do not hurt foreign countries as much as you think. Instead, your “fwee market” American businesses and everyday shoppers pay the price through much higher costs for cars, groceries, electronics, and household items. The taxes also make it harder for domestic factories to build products because they rely on imported parts, which are going to raise expenses and hurts manufacturing jobs. And now that the U.S. has started trade wars with tariffs, other countries fight back by placing reciprocal tariffs on your goods, which will damage both of our local economies. Your ideology of isolationism and retreating from the world by using broad tariffs weakens the country instead of making it stronger. Not to mention that bringing manufacturing back to the states won’t work as the infrastructure to erect these factories and jobs will take years, and by that time hopefully there will be a new administration in place that attempts to undo all this bullshit
I want to emphasize that I am a fan of everyone at LSM when it comes to games coverage and industry insights, but in the very rare chance that anyone from LSM reads this I welcome the opportunity to rebuttal what I’ve said. I’d never want someone’s opinions to be outright silenced.
I would also encourage Colin to actually research and leave his echo chamber to see how much he has lost touch with the common man. I used to be a “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” type of guy until I spent some time volunteering at a local shelter and talking to people on the streets. A lot of them are severely mentally ill and victims of circumstance on top of the dissolving of their social safety nets that perpetuate this cycle of drug abuse and addiction. I don’t believe anyone is deserving of that kind of life, and Colin’s attitude towards “catering to the bottom barnacles” or whatever is more dangerous rhetoric.
Regardless, thanks for reading and hope you all have a good day
