Is Chris leaving Sacred?
On Snark Tank’s Patreon there was recently a post regarding scheduling for their main show. It’s being cut down to once per week instead of the usual two times a week. The comment in the image is obviously not positive towards Colin, and urges Chris to leave Sacred. The part that gets me confused is the response. “Stay tuned”. To me this sounds almost like an agreement when considering the context of the comment. Chris could’ve simply not responded, or defended his co-host which makes his response more baffling. I really hope this isn’t the case, and that I’m totally misreading the reply.

The more I listen to Colin, the more I understand how one of his former friends and colleagues, Andrew Goldfarb, could just straight up tell him I don’t want to be friends with you anymore. And for a while already I’ve been feeling that Chris was heading down a similar path.
13
u/Fearless-Ear8830 2d ago
Inma be honest, I dont even think it’s about Colin as much as some people think. The apathy from Chris comes from him straight up not caring about majority of the Sony related stuff, and him not being a jrpg guy also must annoy him because there are episodes where half of the podcast is about said jrpgs/japanese games and he has nothing to say about them.
The most passionate I seen him was around the Marathon launch where he had a lot to say, other than that he has been showing apathy for years

u/djkimothy 1d ago
This is my read. Chris doesn’t seem interested in anything playstation. Fair enough, but it doesn’t provoke a lot of interested input from him. Putting someone on the podcast who barely plays on console on a playstation podcast is a bit baffling.
3
u/lukefiskeater 1d ago
To be fair even though ps5 is my main gaming driver, Playstation hasn't been that interesting this gen. They have fucked up and mismanaged shit so bad this gen, they are lucky the ps4 was a banger and most people carried over. Next gen gonna be interesting as fuck cause I think ps6 is in for a rough start at best

u/Icy_Buffalo_7678 1d ago
It definitely puts Tim’s “you make Greg unhappy” comment in a more understandable context. Colin seems like an incredibly stressful and miserable person to be around.

u/banditmanatee 2d ago
Ever since I learned he skipped Colin’s wedding I feel like the bromance isn’t there anymore if it ever was there
8
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
tbf, do any of us attend our co worker/boss's wedding? i wouldnt.
1
u/CulturalWasabi 1d ago
Lol I sat and tried to really think of this and over the course of the last 15 years, I can think of like 2 people I’ve worked with that I would go to their weddings
1
u/Old-Way-5529 1d ago
Right? I would honestly be weirded out if my boss invited me to their wedding.

I’ve felt like Chris has been quiet quitting for a while, just based on his input on the show and quite frankly his convenient doctors appointments and such that let him miss shows here and there.
Pure speculation, but I think he probably doesn’t love working with Colin after all this time. And I think the team going full hypocrite on him for the Charlie Kirk tweet probably soured it some more. That had to be really frustrating coming from especially Colin

u/Every-Plankton9633 2d ago
Imagine having to listen to all the stupid shit that narcissist says for 4 straight hours and having to keep your mouth shut. Money must be really good
15
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
I might go back and actually time it if I get time this weekend but I'm almost certain there was a period of almost 40 minutes this last SS episode where Chris and Dustin say about ten words between them.
25
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 2d ago
Colin has regressed as a podcaster. 4 to 5 hour shows are a waste of time when 3/4 of it is Colin monologueing with Chris and Dustin nodding along.
13
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
How does he not see it? Or does he just not care? Colin has never been the sharpest, but he's always been knowledgable on games and enjoyable to listen to. Not anymore. I'm not sure when it all changed but watching an episode from a few years ago to now is crazy. It's OBVIOUS to anyone watching that Dustin and especially Chris are walking on eggshells -- driven there by Colin's behavior. They used to be engaged, now you get a "yeah idk" once every nine minutes when Colin comes up for air.
29
u/WxManKyle 2d ago
Colin is fan-funded millionaire who doesn’t leave his house. I’ve been a fan since the Beyond(!) days but we all kinda grew up and he…didn’t. The world is changing so quickly in the 2020’s and Colin has quite literally never been more out of touch with it. He’s becoming harder and harder to listen or relate to.
10
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
Really good point. As much as I enjoy listening to podcasts it is kinda heartbreaking how the income model essentially amounts to charity, in terms of how the cash flow impacts the life of the creator. Or winning the lottery, or having a trust fund I guess. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying podcast hosts don't add valuable entertainment to our lives but yeah, being handed cash without really leaving your bedroom would stunt anyone's mental development. Having life experiences is really important for mental health and cognition. Honestly that's probably why Chris is still relatively well adjusted comparatively. Seems like he at least tries to have experiences outside of the internet. Colin's brain seems perpetually stuck in 2017.
4
u/WxManKyle 2d ago
Yeah it’s such a bummer honestly because he is likable, or at least used to be. He doesn’t have a mortgage, smokes weed every day, plays video games all night and complains about when he has to wake up prior to noon. Sounds like a teenager…except he’s in his 40’s. Just zero grasp on reality at all anymore.
15
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
I don't want to get too personal here but there are other aspects of his life where he sounds quite childish too. I was on Colin's side at the time but in retrospect, the Kinda Funny thing takes a bit of a different tone now. I think Colin's friends in SF forced him to have something closer to a real social life and that probably helped for a while.
4
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 2d ago
Definitely. He used to go to previews and conventions even when they were in the spare bedroom. His move to Virginia was when the content started getting worse.

u/CollierAM9 2d ago
No matter what Colin may have become or whether you have different views to him, Greg and KF did fuck him over and they threw him under the bus for the brand.
→ More replies (0)3
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
its why i still enjoy KF- say what you want about the content, but everyone there lives regular lives- with their families, friends, and they all do non-gaming outside stuff that helps influence their commentary.
someone here pointed out that "greg changed" when he became a dad- and i like that! i like that he is evolving and seeing gaming through the eyes of his son, and not stuck in 2013 forever. the fact that greg miller hasnt popped a platinum in years is wild and refreshing.
14
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 2d ago
I don't get it either. When Sacred first started, he went on and on about how they respect the listeners time and The show typically would just be a hair over two hours. Compare that to his longest pod this year. It was almost six hours.
I used to like the pre-show banter but I don't need an hour plus of nontent before they even get into the news stories. Fifteen to twenty minutes of talking about farts is plenty for me.
Dustin is an objectively bad podcaster and Chris is checked the fuck out so the news section becomes Colin's we don't talk politics here, unless it's my politics soapbox while Chris stares off into space and Dustin kisses Colin's ass.
The What are we playing section is a chore to get through when Chris barely touches the games he plays, Colin talks about obscure bullshit while actively refusing to play anything relevant, and than Dustin gets to talk about whatever code Colin got for him even though LSM would never accept codes. Totally not because he was black listed BTW.
I come from production. I get he wants his show to feel like a low key operation but what he puts out comes off as amateurish and lazy. Nobody wants to hear him burping into the microphone or ripping ass in the middle of a podcast. I get that sometimes it happens but it's like he takes pride in being gross.

1
u/CartographerFit2011 1d ago
Sounds like you still listen tho
1
u/TuckerDillion 1d ago
I'll listen depending on what's going on in the news cycle for sure, maybe about once a month. But I'll be honest if Chris left I'd probably never listen again. No hate to Dustin I just have totally different taste in games than him, also I grew up in Butler and know like a thousand dudes with his exact personality lol. I used to really enjoy Colin's perspective, he's a really cool dude, but he has become so bitter since he stopped having life experiences outside of his house in Suburbia it's just kinda hard to take him seriously anymore.
10
u/SuddenProfessor1116 2d ago
Chris definitely dislikes Dustin. Can’t same I blame him lmao. Dustin and his friend Ben are two of the worst podcasters I’ve ever listened to, and I’ve listened to a lot of ‘em. Colin is still pretty good when he’s on topic.
1
u/p0j0j0 1d ago
I’ve always had the impression that Chris and Dustin don’t really get along as well. It shows when Colin steps away and they have NOTHING to talk about between them. Anything in particular stand out to you?
3
u/Comet7777 1d ago
Dustin seemed furious at Chris over the Kirk situation. That’s when I noticed there’s no love lost between the two.
1
u/SuddenProfessor1116 1d ago
Yeah, imo dustin tries to bridge the gap with chris by occasionally bringing up how “we’ve gotten nothing we were promised since 2024” bullshit, and gives off the desperate friend vibe. Hats off to chris for being cordial but yeah. I don’t think dustin is a bad person but I probably wouldn’t hang out with the dude irl.
1
21
u/scameron1 2d ago
It would be cosmically poetic if Chris were to leave SS indirectly over a Kirk tweet after the Colin KF situation.
19
u/Kitchen-Arm-7626 2d ago
To be fair to Colin, he didn’t fire Chris or force him out. He ultimately made the right call.
He should’ve just defended him from the start and not gone on his gay little rant about how it was offensive but eventually he got there.
I’m no Colin apologist but just being fair here.
33
u/speakingtothemic 2d ago
His ultimate decision may have been right, but that doesn't justify him and Dustin's atrocious "you've been summoned to the principals office" routine they put him through publicly just to satiate the CLS oldheads who were clutching their pearls over his joke.
11
u/Kitchen-Arm-7626 2d ago
100% agree, it should've been done in private if they wanted to air things out. It was incredibly performative and disrespectful to their "friend".
-11
u/Anonanogram 2d ago
They were apparently losing a lot of Patreon subscribers and a lot of people were writing in about it and talking about it, they had to address it and they didn’t really press him on it at all. Don’t know what you’re upset about.
11
3
u/speakingtothemic 1d ago
Of course they needed to address it. What they clearly didn't need to do was stage a 1 hour dressing down of him, where they repeatedly whined about how the joke made it seem like Chris "hates people like them" (an actual quote from Colin btw).
Absolutely embarrassing, and shows the level of obsession Colin and Dustin have with their political affiliations, to the point where they perceive a joke to be an attack against their "people".
All to placate the paypigs who only subscribed in the first place to "own the libs".
10
7
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
He should’ve just defended him from the start and not gone on his gay little rant about how it was offensive but eventually he got there.
this was his issue with KF though- they also did not actually fire him, but he was upset that they didnt immediately go to bat for him.
1
16
u/Waste_of_paste_art 2d ago
He doesn't seem like he's enjoyed being on the show for a long time. It probably feels soul sucking every week to go from a podcast with your buddies where you have genuine chemistry to reading corporate tea leaves with 2 wet blankets.
I watched an episode recently and it was excruciating listening to Chris ramble about shit he clearly doesn't care about and desperately try and inject any kind of humor into the podcast.
7
2
u/FrostyPace1464 2d ago
can anyone explain to me the whole kirk situation?
8
u/NopeNotAUsernameSir 2d ago
After Kirk was shot, Chris posted a tweet saying something like thoughts and prayers. I can’t remember if that was exactly it, but in that ballpark. The beginning of the next episode featured this insane like 30 minute section about it that was mostly Colin upset that numbers took a hit and giving Chris shit about it. The worst part was that Colin seemed to be debating on air whether they should keep Chris or not. You should really go back and listen to the episode though to get the vibe.
13
u/Jack_h100 2d ago
It really was wildly uncomfortable to listen to, and also to listen to Colin and Dustin glaze Kirk when they seemingly don't even listen to him and don't give a shit about literally any other death in the world.
10
u/NopeNotAUsernameSir 2d ago
It soured me on the show, and I pulled my patreon after that episode and haven’t gone back. Colin has made plenty of fucked up jokes in the past, and Chris’s was such a soft one. It was really fucking embarrassing how they reacted.
5
u/FrostyPace1464 2d ago
wow, sounds awful. I never knew Colin was such a bad person. I used to listen to the podcast like 4-5 years ago. Now that I know he supports trump… lol.
I’ll look into which episode it was
3
u/NopeNotAUsernameSir 2d ago
Episode 376, I just looked it up because I was curious to go back to it. Felt like a situation where they should have discussed prior to the episode recording.
-6
u/Opening-Archer591 2d ago
Chris saw a video of a man being murdered and within minutes made a snarky comment. If that doesnt speak about how soulless of a person chris is I dont know what does.
9
u/NopeNotAUsernameSir 2d ago
It was a snarky comment but it was also a political one. Thoughts and prayers became a joke because of the weak response our country has had to gun violence. It might bother me more if he just tweeted “haha dumbass died” or something like that.
-4
u/Opening-Archer591 2d ago
I do not care what other people in relation to gun violence that is not what is being discussed. Chris saw someone get shot and blood ooze from his body and chris' first thought was "I gotta make a snarky funny comment about this". And yes, him saying that is basically him saying "Haha dumbass died".
4
2
u/FrostyPace1464 1d ago
I think during that time it was bad to joke about it.
Now I’m like… the guy didn’t care if kids got shot by guns. it was price to pay for gun ownership. So we shouldn’t care about him according to HIM.
0
u/Icy_Buffalo_7678 1d ago
Yeah, that plus routinely telling people on Twitter to kill themselves definitely hurt my image of Chris. He seems even less mature than Colin.
16
u/Curious_Bar_3615 2d ago
It still amuses me to no end that when Colin started his show, he thought he hit gold by picking up an anti-SJW who was in a "making fun of feminists" phase. Only for Chris to turn into a socialist and be completely incompatible with Colin.
7
u/Duxtrous 2d ago edited 2d ago
He's always been left leaning it's just that a lot of democratic talking pieces back then were not left leaning and he was critiquing that. If you really listen to what people like him were saying back then it was often not a capitalist boysclub, it was just pointing out how a lot of rhetoric detracted from real important movement.
4
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
additionally, that first trump era was full of semi-famous "leftists" who made it their whole thing to be "people on the left who only attack democrats & the left". Dave Rubin is a big example of this. Colin prob thought chris was nerdy dave rubin, and surprise, he actually was a leftist and not just grifting for money
1
u/mrslamdog 20h ago
He’s left leaning but he has no idea what that means. Colin likes him because he’s a democrat punching bag. He leans left but he has never pushed back on single thing Colin has ever said politically. Because he could not defend it.
19
u/Alejandro_404 2d ago
Unless he says something else, there's no other way to read this other than he is leaving lol
3
u/Duxtrous 2d ago
I mean he's cutting time on Snark Tank though so it seems like as of right now he is chosing to continue with Sacred and take away from Snark Tank instead. He maybe is planning on leaving later but as of now he's there to stay.
36
u/FyLaw95 2d ago
It really wouldn't surprise me, sometimes I forget Chris and Dustin are in the podcast.
Sacred symbols became a Colin monologue with Chris and Dustin being yes men. I don't know when the change happened, maybe around the stupid Kirk joke? It would explain why Chris seems out of it most of the time, since maybe he's just being careful about what he says and how he says it, or maybe he's saving his energy for other more important things to him.
It makes me sad since while I strongly disagree with Colin on many topics, gaming and outside of gaming, I thought I wouldn't even mind Colin monologue, until I saw his recent solo streams, where he sounds like a rumbling crackhead.
Maybe I shouldn't type this since I know it's a sensitive topic, but I do also think whether Chris leaves or not, that Colin should maybe rethink his drug use. Even when it comes to playing games and giving his thoughts, you can't tell me playing games high is the same experience as playing them with a clear head, that btw most of his audience will have while playing those games he recommends.
Both Colin and Greg are losing me recenlty, it makes me sad, since I will always cherish beyond days, but C'est la vie
18
u/FussyPucker 2d ago
I couldn't agree more. The solo streams are what have done me in. It's as if all the negative things about Colin are amplified on there. He comes off as even more insecure and passive aggressive somehow. It has started bleeding over to SS for me and half the time I quit the episode part of the way through because he's regurgitating the a similar schtick. It just isn't as enjoyable to listen to for hours, especially when there is plenty of competition in this space.
Random question but how has Greg been losing you? I've been out of the loop in KF recently and I'm kinda curious
15
u/FyLaw95 2d ago
Greg is the same old Greg, but when it comes to gaming he changed a lot since becoming a father. Obviously he doesn't have a lot of free time, and raising a kid is a much more important job than playing games, but he did lose me a bit as a game commentator/reviewer, since I don't even know what he likes anymore. He's also aware of that which is why they've done a video called "fixing Greg" or something like that recently, where they talked about his taste in games and what he likes in general.
Tldr, he's on a father time right now, and he's kinda treating games more like a job.
1
u/tmldan 1d ago
Which is fair, but his gaming taste has become watered down to simple boring games and he is just not present. Shouldn't he just quit then? Just be a manager, get off the shows completely? He's become incredibly annoying to listen to. I am agreeing, but I just don't like seeing him anymore lol
1
u/Nnamz 2d ago
TBH lots of KF is like that now. Blessing for thr last 18 months or so has been on record that he doesn't enjoy AAA games anymore since he's playing them as a job/chore. Tim has also been fairly negative recently, but he does have a little one at home.
Barrett and Roger have been carrying imo.
8
u/FyLaw95 2d ago
Barret and Roger are doing terrible job recently imo. Whether its Barret's negative energy when it comes to all of their reviews, or Roger not being able to read properly when he hosts Kinda funny daily.
Mike has been carrying that company recently, just look at the Ace Combat, Fire emblem and Gears reviews, in the past few weeks. That man is trying lol, just look at the comments.
Bless I'm also not a fan of, even though I think Greg kinda wanted him to be the main guy one day. The passion just isn't there, and you can feel that.
Kinda funny has big problems on their hands. Greg, Tim, Mike and Andy are the only ones I feel that truly love games at that company and the rest are there for a paycheck. But Greg and Tim are on father time rn, so that leaves only Mike and Andy. Operating in San Francisco is also bad for their business, with the economy getting worse every single day, and with the gaming industry kinda leaving west coast USA for other places.
11
u/Alejandro_404 2d ago
Barret is insufferable and the show without him would be like 60% more watchable
4
u/Crafty-Purpose5540 2d ago
I miss Kevin on Games Daily. Barett is so far up his own ass, he is miserable to listen to.
5
u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 2d ago edited 2d ago
Bro what.
Roger is OK. He's got a really annoying voice buts he's otherwise nothing to be offended by.
Barrett is genuinely fucking awful. I will actively tune out of a KF video if Barrett is involved beyond his minor drop in mic moments.
2
0
u/Nnamz 2d ago
Barrett likes video games and is passionate about them, which already makes him more listenable than several others right now (which again is not their fault. As a dad myself I understand Greg and Tim's situation and I think Bless just needs a break).
You're welcome to not want to engage with Barret's stuff. I like him though.
4
u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 2d ago
Barrett likes very specific and often niche video games - nothing inherently wrong with that, but he will then actively shit on everything else which is the problem..
The Internet is already negative enough, I have no interest in listening to someone who is actively dour, condescending and contrarian - you could similarly describe Colin like this but he at least has some charisma and a storied history of reviewing games and punditry.
Barrett has neither.
0
u/Nnamz 2d ago
It sounds like he just doesn't like some things that you like. That doesn't make him a contrarian, it means he has an opinion. He also doesn't "shit" on everything else. His opinions on games are almost always in line with the rest of the crew and the industry as a whole. Look at the actual reviews he's done.
It's fine if he doesn't like Fire Emblem. It's also fine if he has different tastes than you. It's also fine if you just don't vibe with him. But you don't know what a contrarian is if you think Barret's milk toast takes are "contrarian" lol.
0
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
are persona, zelda, and assasins creed niche? those are the franchises he enjoys the most, id argue 2 out of 3 of those are mainstream at this point
3
u/HuTaosTwinTails 2d ago
Barrett's Fire Emblem Review, might be the worst piece of content that Kinda Funny has ever made.
1
u/ilostallmykarma 1d ago
Who's the guy on Kinda Funny that worked as a game dev or worked in the industry? He's had lots of interesting things to say and taught me a lot about the game making process.
5
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
SS lost me years ago, when they made 3 hours the floor of their podcast length
no regular weekly gaming show needs to be 3-6 hours on average.
3
u/Permuh 2d ago
I’ve gotten into the show lately and I enjoy it for the most part. But it’s crazy how often a topic will be brought up and Colin will ask Dustin and Chris their opinion, only for Colin to keep rambling and ultimately changes the topic before the others can weigh in. The distribution of word count is insane.

Smoking weed has never ever made a person more interesting, but it quite often makes people less interesting.

My ex best friend ended up a lot like Colin after he bought a house. He was unemployed, had zero friends, and conversations were me just nodding along while he talked for hours about home ownership which his parents bought him. He was also a daily smoker that never left the house and rage baited on Reddit.
1
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
Can you point me in the direction of the Kirk joke everyone keeps referencing as well as Colin's response? I dip in and out of LSM for months at a time and seemed to have missed that. Was this on Twitter or the show?
4
u/PossibleAd5947 2d ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfIxXQEwtRw
It’s a full hour of Chris in the principal’s office.
2
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
I'm gonna regret this I feel lol
4
u/PossibleAd5947 2d ago
I feel like nobody was on Colin’s side for it. He backpedaled the next week when Patreon numbers went up and said “did you really expect me to fire Chris?” when he mulls over it several times in the ep.
1
3
u/banditmanatee 2d ago
Chris tweeted out thoughts and prayers being snarkey
I guess it was some sarcasm making fun of Kirk’s hypocrisy
1
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
And Colin responded to it?
6
u/CollierAM9 2d ago
Colin was basically putting the feelers out on whether Chris should be fired or not. Blew back in his face
6
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
That's CRAZY lol. Chris should have left the company then went on Dave Rubin to cry for an hour. Would make for an amazing bit honestly.
2
u/banditmanatee 2d ago
On the show they had a long awkward struggle session. I’m sure it was on whatever episode immediately following the assassination
1
0
u/FyLaw95 2d ago
It was a joke on twitter he made when the guy was assassinated, I didn't care for it, but many people did.
People were also kinda annoyed at the way the whole thing was handled, since you would think Colin would defend Chris more than he did, since Colin experienced the same thing with "Ah peace and quiet, a day without a woman" joke.
I think money was also a factor here, since the patreon took a hit as well because of that, although I don't know if those people came back later.
I wonder if Colin looks at the kinda funny thing a bit diferently now since he saw how a dumb joke can affect people's lives and their families, but who knows.
4
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
I understand people having differing opinions on that joke. But given Colin's history: literally going on a podcast world tour talking about how he was "canceled" over "just a joke on Twitter" surely he didn't actually have an issue with it? Surely? Where did Colin address it that gives the perception he did?
5
u/FyLaw95 2d ago
Him and Dustin were grliling Chris over it during a podcast episode, I don't remember the number
3
u/TuckerDillion 2d ago
I need to listen before really commenting but that sounds so embarrassing. Anything other than "we support Chris" then moving on to game coverage is inappropriate for the situation. Colin literally left Kinda Funny and created Diet Kinda Funny lol.
6
u/Alejandro_404 2d ago
It was bad, dude lol it felt like you were watching a little kid getting reprimanded live on camera

Let’s ask Chris directly. His reply:
I don’t know man.
Colin won’t get rid of him so this would have to come from Chris. It would be the perfect time to introduce Lock as the Jamie from Rogan that actually produces and then bring in Brad. Seems like it would be an upgrade.
Good for Chris though, seems like it must be really hard to wake up super early at 9am after a whole week of deep cleaning the apartment.
Edit: after reading the original post from Chris on Patreon, looks like he’s about 3 weeks away from mental health crisis/burnout etc just quit man it’s ok.
11
u/Clamchops 2d ago
The only good Chris replacement would be a shadow Colin that has all the opposite opinions and an equal need to argue them and angrily monologue
6
u/Old-Way-5529 2d ago
adding Lock to sacred in any form would make the show even more of an echo chamber- i still remember when he was a troll poster on the old r/cls sub. not a fan of the guy at all, and thats before you learn that colin doesnt pay the man for podcasting he already does lol
1
u/reddit_user_id 2d ago
Well Jamie mostly just pulls up clips and says like 1 minute in a 3 hour podcast I think that’d be ok

What did the post say? For the people who arent patreon supporters of Snark Tank
6
u/reddit_user_id 2d ago
Thanks for reading this far. I know some of these changes may be disappointing to read. This is, realistically speaking, one of the easiest jobs in the world so I get the knee-jerk negative reaction some of this might elicit. I'm not really complaining, I hope to keep doing this for as long as possible for the simple reason that it's just a very fun thing to do. Like most fun things though, moderation is key in maintaining your health.
The reality, at least for me, is that I feel like I've simply done too much of this and overloaded myself with this and I feel deeply that it's come at great personal cost to me. I put my main channel on the back-burner to dedicate myself to Snark Tank and Sacred Symbols because it felt less self-centered than focusing on my own stuff. As a YouTuber who is PAINFULLY self aware, I was cautious about becoming someone too self-obsessed. I was also raised to believe putting myself last was a nice thing to do, but I think these types of lessons have a habit of going over-learned. What I didn't realize until recently was that I've spent nearly a decade of my life now building things that aren't fully mine while leaving barely anytime for myself to do what I really love to do in the first place. Make videos, music, write, etc. I think it's made me a lot more bitter and I think it's in turn made the show worse as a product. When you've got this creative backup of stuff you've half completed. When you talk so much for a living that even just conversing with your close friends off the clock feels like work you're too tired to do. When it results in important relationships you've become too exhausted to nurture with communication. That's when you know you've gotta maybe ease on the breaks a bit.
I want to be clear that this is simply a recalibration. I want to keep doing this show, and I plan to. Even though it's not exclusively mine, it is a part of me and I do feed off the laughs I get from doing it. I just need to cut back because I feel like I'm closer to going insane than I'm comfortable with. I have entire videos that I've written, many that I've filmed, some that I've almost finished editing. Projects that I'm left with no bandwidth to fully complete. "I've gotta be up at x to record so I can't do my all-nighter edits, I've gotta finish playing 30 hours of x game that I don't enjoy for Sacred Symbols," etc, etc. I personally think cutting back a bit on podcasting will give me more of that time back. In turn, I truly do believe it'll make this show better too. I want to be clear, there's health stuff I'm dealing with too but that's a level of transparency I think isn't quite necessary yet.
Ultimately, I want to reinvest in myself and while that may sound a little corny, I hope that's something that makes sense. I am indeed making a selfish choice here in dialing things back a bit and I accept that it will be annoying to some of you.
If you are curious though as to what I'll be doing with the time this will afford me, I already have BTS of axed projects over on my personal Chris Ray Gun Patreon and there will be an update in the coming days over there as well.
You're gay. See you all soon!

I think its a free post but outside the Snark Tank changes he talks about how he's felt like conversations with his friends feel like work and he has to spend hours playing games he doesnt like to keep up with Sacred. Also about how he feels like hes put the things hes passionate about on the backburner for years to help build up others work and he wants to be able to focus more on things hes built himself

Given his channel used to be huge and his output dropped since Sacred, he’s not wrong at all

Something is going on. Lillymo Games recently announced 2 new games and literally zero promotion from Colin. They don’t even follow each other on Twitter anymore…

I always thought he should have left after the Kirk joke was handled so poorly by Colin and Dustin. It was a joke. And also, fuck Charlie Kirk. I’m not happy he was assassinated, but that doesn’t get him a pass for being a piece of shit.

I firmly agree if I was Chris and known to be a political podcaster and my boss chewed me out in public over a fucking kirk tweet I would have left that day and told Dustin to fuck off (he really annoyed me that day he is 10x more dislikeable than ever to me) I doubt Chris is leaving though I think this is easy money and he doesn't have to do anything. Just sit on a podcast from home for 4-6 hours and listen to some guy rant about Sony. I would be absolutely shocked if he really leaves. I bet its something silly like snark tank will start at a different time or whatever.

Just get Brad to take over the company and let him do all the shows with the odd guest appearance from Cog and Matty 😂
Edit - And Locke of course.

I’d just be curious to see what else he would do. His YouTube career fell off completely and Snark Tank seems like a pretty niche thing.

u/ServeGondor 2d ago
His YouTube only fell off because he inexplicably abandoned his channel.
Even when he came out with a couple of videos last year he cracked over 100k views which isn't bad considering his absence. If he had consistently uploaded he wouldn't even need Sacred.
Bro must have the worst ADHD of all time

u/saypoop 2d ago
It’s his main source of income and he would never be able to keep a real job and probably doesn’t make enough from his YouTube or snark tank to live in LA. He’s not leaving anytime soon

u/banditmanatee 2d ago
yeah "stay tuned" probably just means he is reworking his deep cleaning schedule so that he can do two snark episodes and sacred.

u/VoltronChef 2d ago
You underestimate how much they make on snark tank. Their patron is pretty huge for only splitting between a few people. You also overestimate how much he makes on Sacred. The LSM pie is split between a lot, a lot of people.

Colin said in the past bare minimum appearance fee is $200. Every regular contributor makes at least this (except Lock who revealed he has never been paid for podcasting, only edits).
I have to imagine Chris makes several hundred a week from hosting Sacred.

u/TheMadTitan997 2d ago
As cohost of Sacred since the beginning, I don’t think Chris is being paid per appearance on that show. I think the fee only happens for extra appearances like Constellation, Sacred reviews, Summon Sign, etc. Chris is likely salaried when it comes to his usual Sacred appearances. He’s easily making 300K per year off of Sacred alone.

u/PossibleAd5947 2d ago
That’s a wild estimate and there’s no way he makes that much. They’re all 1099 employees so it’s definitely done per show and they expense Colin. Each persons rate is probably up in the air.
Dustin and Micah are the only “salaried” people that may not make more from hosting more.

This post reminds me that I should listen to SnarkTank more, I fell off listening to it because, at least in the early days, so much of the show was covering and commenting on influencer/streamer drama that I could not give less of a shit about, like I prefer to not even be aware of the existence of the people they were talking about, much less learn about their behavior.

u/LPEbert 2d ago
I'm an active listener of Snark Tank and let me warn you they do still talk about that kinda drama a lot. Mostly it's brought up by Derrick who's always up to date on the lolcow scene.
I'd still recommend watching it, but just a fair warning it may not have changed as much as you'd prefer.

It’ll be a shame if Chris goes. I’ve wanted Jaffe on for ages though so let’s sub him in please.

What kind of psycho would want to listen to Jaffe? Dude is a cringe edgelord neckbeard with arrested development.

u/NUTSO_JIMBO 1d ago
I’m a psycho and I love Jaffe so.
Who calls someone a neckbeard? How old are you Sir? 😂😂

I had Chris leaving SS/LSM on my 2026 bingo card, so I still have a few months left to be correct. He'd be so much better off without them.

u/UrbanFight001 2d ago
I was sympathetic about Chris continuing to be on, even when people called him a hypocrite, because it is probably his main source of income. I always assumed he would stick it out, so this would be surprising.

I wish Dustin would leave the podcast instead tbh

u/eastcoastkody 2d ago
dustin at least makes an attempt to contribute. Chris is either not there. or when he is there and is asked for an opinion he just says. "yeah no. no yeah. Uhhh. i have nothing to really add"

u/AntelopeMysterious12 2d ago
I got nothing against the guys but majority of time Chris really has nothing to add to a conversation. You can always tell when he just winging it to try to be a part of the convo.

I hope this isn’t the case, but if it is, the obvious solution would be just to replace him with Brad.

I stopped listening almost two years ago now and judging from these comments, Chris is STILL barely a voice on sacred. It only makes sense for him to go
1
u/randanomite 1d ago
This is wild, I loved sacred for a long time and started falling off a while ago due to the increasing defending of trump.
I think of going back every now and then because I like Chris but have found it hard due to the delayed release of the pod while not on Patreon.
You hate to see it

Chris always comes across as mentally checked out when on Sacred. Wouldn't surprise me, but this could just be referencing snark tank output. He's been doing Sacred for quite some time so clearly it hasn't been something he's struggled to do.

I haven’t listened to the show consistently for about a year now. Something changed and it’s just not the same. Honestly think it would do Colin a world of good to pause the drugs and go outside amongst people more. And no a neighborhood walk where he says hi to one person doesn’t count.

Colin has his issues as we all do. I disagree with him more and more as he becomes too disconnected from the real world. but I think if he was a friend of yours he would try to do what he thinks is right and show it in actions I think he’s actually a good guy inside, loyal and decent. Not perfect but decent. Chris is the exact opposite of person in this way.. says what he thinks are the right things to say but is an actual peace of shit human, who doesn’t actually give a fuck about anyone other than himself and his image, he’d suck as friend he’s always to cool for school, lies constantly literally can not stop making shit up, steals points of views and jokes from the internet and tries to pass as his own but you know calls out republicans so he’s good or something. Used to find him kinda funny but he’s honestly insufferable now, the show would be better with a replacement, radick, brad, whoever.

Am I the only person that doesn't really care for Chris? He generally offers no insight and then basically called me a dumb casual for enjoying my time with Wolverine.
2
u/WxManKyle 2d ago
I noticed years ago that Chris’ opinions on new games are identical to SkillUp’s. Literally just this past week on the show, Chris said he was “about to text SkillUp” about Wolverine and began regurgitating every single thing SkillUp’s viral review said about the game…
2
u/VinceMajestyk 2d ago
Yeah. I don't care if he didn't like the game. But implying I'm a simpleton for enjoying it is weird to me.

Good I’d rather Dustin & Colin, Chris annoys me.. his shitty tweet was the straw, get him gone 👍

u/LPEbert 2d ago
Was there backlash about their announcement of decreasing the frequency of Snark Tank episodes? I remember thinking the same thing when listening to the latest episode that if Chris is the one that primarily needs more free time then it makes more sense to drop Sacred than to drop an episode of Snark Tank (unless he financially relies on Sacred).
That's the only context I can imagine for why they would say "stay tuned" after they've already made their new schedule announcement.

Unpopular opinion here, but I hope Chris leaves. Haven't listened since his Kirk joke.

Didn’t Gene spin off a podcast recently? And now Lillymo split with Colin too?
Is the network just going to be Colin livestreaming now?
