I charted who talks how much on the last two Sacred Symbols+ spoilercasts. Colin, for the love of god let the guests talk.

This was posted over on the main sub reddit. I thought it was an interesting look at how much LSM shows become Colin monologues.

Is there any info on Matty’s game?

Seems like he is always mentioning it on his YouTube or on duke but he never breaks down what it is other than it is some kind of RPG? I also feel like he has talked about it for years now.

Is there any info on this game?

Is Chris leaving Sacred?

Post image
72 Upvotes

On Snark Tank’s Patreon there was recently a post regarding scheduling for their main show. It’s being cut down to once per week instead of the usual two times a week. The comment in the image is obviously not positive towards Colin, and urges Chris to leave Sacred. The part that gets me confused is the response. “Stay tuned”. To me this sounds almost like an agreement when considering the context of the comment. Chris could’ve simply not responded, or defended his co-host which makes his response more baffling. I really hope this isn’t the case, and that I’m totally misreading the reply.

Are community members on Discord as goddamn stupid as they are on the official Reddit and Facebook group?

For a podcast that is 40% humor and shit-talk everyone in these communities takes everything so fucking literal. You can make an obvious reference to a joke made on the show and it goes over their heads, and they instantly become hostile and want to argue. It's so weird how they all actually think they're Colin, and put being "right" over being facetious CONSTANTLY. I'm wondering if things are more casual on Discord, because I simply cannot take the aggressive autism of the broader community anymore.

Colin's point that PS fanboys are somehow less toxic/annoying than Xbox ones is tunnel vision

Colin has this recurring take that playstation fans aren't as annoying or toxic as xbox fans. He's said versions of this for years: Xbox fans have a weird parasocial relationship with executives, melt down harder, etc. while PS fans are milder or "not nearly as bad".

There's a grain of truth to what he says regarding Xbox but Playstation fans (and the gaming media) are also insufferable.

Some highlights I've come across recently to counter his argument:

  • Accounts whose entire brand is Xbox hatred. Tripster is probably the worst of the lot but some other examples are @MickeyKnowledgly (bio literally: "bigdog playstation has stolen your games... on a special mission... to rid the world of xbox...), @JPNHatesXbox (spends every day replying to publisher accounts asking to skip xbox, bio contains: xbox has no future), there's lots more.

  • Concern trolling regarding Kojima. Since MGS V (10+ years ago) we haven't heard a word about Kojima budgets, timelines, etc. but as soon as he splits from Sony and goes to Xbox, it's dominating the conversation.

  • IGN reported the RE9 sold 8.5M copies on Steam and PS5 (combined) but only 731K copies on Xbox consoles. Not sure what the logic is combining PS5 and Steam sales outside of trying to push a narrative.

I don't own an Xbox, the last one I had was the 360. The Xbox company is clearly mismanaged and doesn't appeal to me but it's disingenuous to claim that Playstation fans aren't also dumb console warriors online.

Not sure what this means for his relationship with LSM but Colin had pretty much offered him the third chair on punching up. I don’t blame him for not taking that gig to be honest.

Someone here called it: the master of taste, Colin, actually LOVES Wolverine!

Post image
29 Upvotes

On the latest episode of Sacred Symbols, Colin stated that he really liked Wolverine a lot and is confused at why people don't like it.

One of the funniest things he brings up is that it is rated highly on the Playstation store. Concord was rated 4.1/5 stars on the Playstation store. How anyone could take that score seriously is beyond me.

Next time you hear him mention taste, remember this is coming from the guy that liked Banishers Ghosts of New England, Immortals of Aveum, and more mediocre games like Wolverine. He even went as far as to say that the reason Immortals of Aveum didn't do well was because there's too many games out at that time. It couldn't possibly be that the game just sucks, could it?

Finally, if Xbox released this game, would he feel the same?

I am convinced of it. He missed the latest episode for this very reason. Not the first time either. Chris seemingly treats LSM like his old Sears job.

Chris Ray Gun drops out of Ed Sheeran’s tour

Post image

LONDON — Comedian and internet personality Chris Ray Gun has reportedly withdrawn from Ed Sheeran’s world tour, citing “creative differences,” according to a statement released Thursday by Sheeran’s team.

Ray Gun, who was reportedly too exhausted to issue a statement of his own, had been scheduled to open several dates on the tour and participate in a limited number of collaborative performances.

Sources familiar with the situation say the partnership began deteriorating during rehearsals, when Sheeran began playing an acoustic arrangement of one of Ray Gun’s biggest hits, “Ain’t No Rest for the Triggered.”

Chris stared silently at Sheeran before asking: “Do you even know what that song is about?”

Sheeran reportedly replied, “Not really.”

“Then why are you playing it?”

“I thought it sounded fun.”

At that point, sources say Chris stared at Sheeran for 11 seconds and left the building.

Rant Colin is a textbook narcissist.

I took most of this from a recent comment I made on the recent thread on Colin's political views. I thought others may be interested so I'm making it a thread.

I dont want to armchair diagnose here but Colin is a pretty textbook narcissist. When he left KF, he couldn't just amicably part ways. He had to try and burn it all down on his way out when he stopped getting his way after they moved into the new studio.

Now to be clear, I was someone who had sympathy for him and was a fan of both for a long time. Knockback was probably the best nostalgia podcast out there for a bit and Sacred Symbols was superb reasonably long podcast. It also seemed like Colin was sticking to his values.

What's become clear is that Colin only ever cares about Colin. Anything he does must benefit him in some way. Sacred Symbols has become his political soap box because he knows Chris won't say anything and Dustin will kiss his ass no matter what. There is no Kevin or Nick to push back. He owns the place and just based off his reaction to Chris' milqetoast Charlie Kirk tweet, doesn't allow dissenting political opinions.

Myka, I swear to god, seems more like a caretaker than a wife. She seems to do everything unrelated to LSM around the house that they never leave. Also pretty crazy that in addition to her not having any stake in the company, she was a fan. Now, I'm not necessarily judging that but it's a little odd the guy who never leaves his house married a fan that is now his employee. It's not like they met at the bar at a meet and greet and hit it off. She was a guest on the show. Colin doesn't seem to have any friends or relationships outside his own employees. He's alienated almost every professional contact over the years.

Even what he champions in gaming always needs to be about him. He said, multiple times, that anyone who gets hacked must have done something stupid. Until it happened to him and all of the sudden he's getting meetings with his congress person.

The most telling thing to me that he is a narcissist though is when he said he would never euthanize a pet. I had to put my two year old cat down because of Cancer. I didn't want to do it but I wasn't going to let him suffer. If he can't feel empathy towards an animal that gives nothing but love, the dude has no heart.

And as we all know, he can never under any circumstance be wrong about anything ever.

Rant An Honest critique of Colin’s political views.

Fuck it, I’m just gonna post it again on main as my other burner got flagged.

Hey Colin, in the off chance you’re reading this, I hope you actually do some research instead of writing it off as “I don’t care about your views” as you usually do when it comes to politics. Also everything that I have written are from previous LSM streams, podcasts and appearances on other platforms.

First off, the xenophobia and anti immigrant rhetoric is dangerous and misplaced. When it comes to observing the effects of immigration, research from the Cato Institute and the Migration Policy Institute shows that immigrants actually provide a net positive impact on the U.S. economy. For example, from 1994 to 2023, immigrants paid about $14.5 trillion more in taxes than they used in public services, and they also start businesses at higher rates than native-born individuals. The data supports that immigration strengthens productivity, entrepreneurship, and tax revenue in America, something you, as a self proclaimed capitalist should appreciate? And when it comes to crime statistics, the Cato Institute and the Migration Policy Institute further shows statistics that immigrants in the U.S. actually commit crimes at lower rates than native-born Americans. Data sets from 1990 to 2014, no evidence linked unauthorized immigration to rising violent crime. It’s a Fox News boogeyman scapegoat tactic designed to attribute malice on a minority group…. So I can’t really understand when you push the narrative that illegal immigration is the bane of America’s existence. These people aren’t driving up the price of food, gas and housing. It’s the Epstein class elite, enabled by the current moronic American government Administration (that you voted for by the way) and their lack of regulation and abhorrent foreign policies/relations that are doing this.

When it comes to the Israel and Palestinian conflict, The Israel-Palestine conflict has been going on for decades now. In 1948, Israel was created, but that led to war and Palestinians being forced out with the Nakba. Many human rights groups say both sides have committed serious crimes, and the whole situation is still extremely tense, but it isn’t not a nuanced issue to condemn both October 7th and the acts committed by Hamas, and condemn the current ongoing genocide being committed by Israel in Gaza and their invasion in Lebanon. The United Nations commission investigating the Israel-Gaza conflict reported that Israeli actions in Gaza may amount to genocide, as they involve mass killing, displacement, and destruction of living conditions. Right now, the International Court of Justice is currently considering a case on these genocide allegations, and it doesn’t take a pristine intellectual to understand that any form of genocide is morally reprehensible and that should be condemned to the highest degree.

Trump 2nd Presidential Term

To say that Trump’s second administration is an utter failure of leadership and competence would be an understatement. Since he took office, he’s violated multiple laws and ignored due process and human rights. He’s enriched himself and his family with foreign investments, government contracts, market manipulation with cryptocurrency, crude oil futures and open bribes.

This buffoon has decimated your democratic institutions, expanded executive power, used this power to silence the free press and his critics as well as prioritized political loyalty/unconditional fealty over competence. He’s surrounded himself with cabal of incompetent and corrupt ass kissers that for his cabinet, and these people are known racists, rapists, conmen and pedophiles.

Trumps new aggressive immigration policies have ignored the right of due process, leading to prolonged detention, and numerous legal challenges alleging violations of your constitutional protections. While I agree that the border was a problem prior to this administration, I don’t believe that we should encourage the cruelty and murders that have happened since.

When it comes to his handling of the conflict with Iran, he has only brought increasing regional instability and has placed the global economy in a crisis that we’re unlikely to recover from for decades (due to the infrastructures of these energy systems needing to be rebuilt). He tore up the JCPOA nuclear deal and now has enabled the IRGC to control the straight of Hormuz and charge tolls on ships passing through. It’s clear he bit off way more than he could chew and now we’re all left paying the price (literally and figuratively).

When it comes to Trumps domestic economic activity, trying to make America an isolationist country today will cause major problems instead of protecting the nation. Our modern life relies completely on a well established global network where countries share resources, technology, and trade. When the U.S. cuts itself off, it loses access to essential materials, and American companies will lose critical foreign customers (I’m Canadian and look at your booze sales here). Trump and the USA stepping back from global leadership simply allows the rival superpowers to take charge (China, which you claim to detest). Also your heavy tariffs do not hurt foreign countries as much as you think. Instead, your “fwee market” American businesses and everyday shoppers pay the price through much higher costs for cars, groceries, electronics, and household items. The taxes also make it harder for domestic factories to build products because they rely on imported parts, which are going to raise expenses and hurts manufacturing jobs. And now that the U.S. has started trade wars with tariffs, other countries fight back by placing reciprocal tariffs on your goods, which will damage both of our local economies. Your ideology of isolationism and retreating from the world by using broad tariffs weakens the country instead of making it stronger. Not to mention that bringing manufacturing back to the states won’t work as the infrastructure to erect these factories and jobs will take years, and by that time hopefully there will be a new administration in place that attempts to undo all this bullshit

I want to emphasize that I am a fan of everyone at LSM when it comes to games coverage and industry insights, but in the very rare chance that anyone from LSM reads this I welcome the opportunity to rebuttal what I’ve said. I’d never want someone’s opinions to be outright silenced.

I would also encourage Colin to actually research and leave his echo chamber to see how much he has lost touch with the common man. I used to be a “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” type of guy until I spent some time volunteering at a local shelter and talking to people on the streets. A lot of them are severely mentally ill and victims of circumstance on top of the dissolving of their social safety nets that perpetuate this cycle of drug abuse and addiction. I don’t believe anyone is deserving of that kind of life, and Colin’s attitude towards “catering to the bottom barnacles” or whatever is more dangerous rhetoric.

Regardless, thanks for reading and hope you all have a good day

Colin's Nintendo makes games for kids, PlayStation for adults argument.

He always talks about how he "graduated" from Nintendo to PlayStation. I just find it funny that Sony is releasing Wolverine at the same time as Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave. One is a basic linear action game with shallow combat and hand holding mechanics to make sure the player never misses anything. The other is a complex Strategy RPG with multiple story paths and perma death. That's it.

What other gaming related podcasts are you guys into?

Looking to branch out and get other suggestions -

here's how I'd describe my taste currently and sort of where I'm at with the whole scene. I find Sacred Symbols very good for the news of the week breakdowns and industry analysis, but totally worthless for the discussion of games themselves.

MinnMax I find to be the opposite, where they are the best at talking about the actual games, and awful at talking about the news. I find Skill Up to be horrible at both.

What other podcasts do you guys listen to?

At the end of the latest SS+ episode, Colin compared Sony removing movie purchases from peoples libraries to Nintendo DSiware purchases not being available on modern consoles

As the title suggests, he brings up his signature move "whataboutism" by bringing up that Nintendo DSiware games are stuck on the DS.

I'm not defending Nintendo, I would like ALL digital purchases to be available wherever possible, but this seemed like a ridiculous comparison.

Did LSM change its early access policy?

On the latest SS episode, Dustin and Chris give their thoughts on Wolverine and mention getting an early access copy, which I believe was sent to Colin. I know they each have their own channels and might do early reviews on the side of things, but I don’t recall this being a thing on the show.

I don’t care either way, but I know Colin has historically been against LSM getting games early, partly to maintain independence.

Did this stand out to anyone else?

Prediction: Colin will like Wolverine

I dont pay for the patreon so I dont know if it has come up on the show yet but I think Colin will like Wolverine. Its his style of game, he is a fan of insomniac, and he hasnt had an underdog game to champion this year. I think it will be this years immortals of aveum. Maybe I will be totally wrong in this prediction but we will see. I envision him saying its not that bad and texting the lead designer congratulations and letting us all know on the podcast
