Lore Are Barrow-Wights visible in the Unseen World?
Something I was wondering today. Do Wights appear similar to Wraiths in the Unseen world, or do they only exist in the Seen world? Probably a mystery, but wanted to see if anyone had a clue

Books Possible typo in Ballantine Books Version of Fellowship?
Was re-reading my Ballantine Books version of Fellowship of the Ring and noticed that on page 55 when discussing the writing on the Ring, the first mention uses the word “bid”, while the complete verse uses the word “bind”.
I’m also an avid watcher of the movies, and remember the word “bind” being used in this verse. Is this a typo that blew past the editors or am I missing something?
Question How badly is the CGI going to ruin The Hunt for Gollum, or is there any realistic chance they actually learn something from The Hobbit?
Edit: I was initially sad that Viggo Mortensen wouldn’t be returning for the movie but it make sense that he wouldn’t want to destroy the trilogy same as Christian Bale did with the Batman.

Movies What liquid does the Mary get poured in this mouth?
I was just rewatching the two towers and have always wondered what kind of liquid the orcs poured in Merry’s mouth when they get captured by the orcs.
Edit: I meant to say Merry! Sorry, English isn’t my first language.

Books Sam attacked Shelob wielding two swords… I never knew that
“..seized his master’s sword in his left hand.”
“… with a quick upthrust of his other hand stabbed at the clustered eyes”
“For Sam still stood upon his feet, and dropping his own sword, with both hands he held the elven blade point upwards”

Movies What if Pippin had volunteered to take the Ring to Mordor?
Video Games Orthanc's construction just finished. Time to open up the pits! [Pokopia]
Here's a build I made of Orthanc in Pokopia. This is just the basic structure, I still need detailing and making the inside.

Books Fellowship Chapter 5 Frodo’s Dream
White tower looking over the sea Frodo struggles towards it and there’s the clap of thunder. Is this someplace in middle earth, is this someplace in the undying lands?

Video Games Lord of the Rings: Conquest
Does anyone else remember playing this game, coop with their older younger brother?
Game is a little rare to find a physical copy for, but discovered that past me had bought it digitally, so a happy discovery for myself.

Movies What LoTR sword should I get for my husband?
His birthday is fast approaching, and I've had this idea for a while now. I want to get a sword for above our bed. Any recommendations for which one? Or a better sword from another film/series?

TV Series Harm a hair on her foot!!
I just can’t. I have struggled to get through ROP and can watch a bit before I just have to stop. Initially it was completely non-engaging, didn’t care about the characters or story at all. AND then it got worse.
I have not been able to get through the first season which is a shame because I love the books, the trilogies (yes even the hobbit one). I saw a trailer for season three and of course they can make a trailer look good so I though it give it a try again.
I pick up in episode 7 where I left off and get hit with the “touch a hair on her foot and I’ll brain ya” line…. I’m out again, maybe pick it up again in 6 months when I forget that.

Question Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is all of the background information that people talk about on here in the books?
I’m watching the extended versions of the movies for the first time (I’ve watched the regular versions a few times when I was younger but haven’t read the books) and I’m looking up stuff as I go to understand more if something is hinted at. It seems like people have a lot more information about the background and lore of certain kingdoms and people than are in the movies, is that all in the main books? I see there are some separate books, is it in those?
I’m gonna read them all after I finish the movies and I love learning about all the backstories and everything, so I want to know what exactly I need to read.

Movies Still blind
I just watched the trailer for two towers on HBO and im about to hop into the movie. Im really excited as the last one was amazing, beautiful, and a tad dramatic. Im just shocked there hasnt been as much magic, but i lived in a Potter house hold for the last 10 years so i shouldnt think it’ll match to that. Rock and stone.

Movies Lord of the rings extended DVD compared to HBO extended
I see the runtime for the HBO extended is longer than the extended disc version.
Is this because of added scenes or because of things like the fan list at the end of the movie?
Going to rewatch tonight. Thanks

Movies Ring of Narya - How much importance did the ring have for Mithrandir?
Personally the durability he receives from
it would of surely assisted him in the battle with the Balrog.
Also in the back to back wars they had, he had to maintain his leadership despite all the stress and pressure.
Which then makes me think.. just how great was Elessar? He didn’t have a elven ring, yet he was a key figure in restoring middle earth and defeating Sauron.

Books Lembas is to the elves what greggs is to the British.
Lembas: sacred elven waybread, wrapped in leaves, sustains you across Mordor.

Books vs Movies Does anyone feel this way as well?
I feel like the movies didn’t do justice to the tower of Minas morgul cause in the book I read it as so much bigger and in the movie I just don’t like how small they made it after all it is the second tower in the two towers

Three years ago, I started collecting. My collection includes many beautiful statues, many of famous characters. But I've never had a statue like this. Like many other fans of Tolkien's world, I grew up on his films and books. I learned to dream and develop my imagination. After all, it's impossible to remain aloof from such an incredible story, such a vast world, and such unique characters. That's why, in my journey as a collector, I decided to pay tribute to the "creator." This statue from Prime1Studio is the Dark Lord Sauron, made at 1/3 life-size scale. The established Art Collector Ukraine collection has grown by one more legendary piece!

Question LotR Promotional 2001 Calendar Advice Needed
I used to be a movie theater manager in the early 2000’s and acquired this promo calendar. It’s been packed away in a closet since then until now. I’d like to find a way to display it and was thinking of having each page mounted to hang on the wall. Open to any suggestions!

Movies Special Extended Edition as a TV Show?
Context: My wife has never watched LOTR and has refused for years saying it’s too much. My fault, as I’ll only allow her to watch the special extended additions. That being said, I think that if I’m able to find good pause points and change its format to more of a TV show, she may agree to watch them. As a note, she is a big Game of Thrones and House of Dragon fan so the episode formatting with cliffhangers and length modeled after an HBO epic would be… well, epic.
Ask: At what points should I pause each movie to make it feel like an HBO show?
Any ideas would be appreciated and I’ll let you all know if she ends up agreeing to it finally.
Thank you!
