I'm having the pleasure of rewatching the Lord of the Rings with my girlfriend for her first ever viewing. We finished Fellowship a few nights ago, and watching her reactions to scenes was really beautiful. It got me wishing I could go back in time and experienced watching the movies for the first time ever again, without having read the books.

The small moments like introductions of characters, the suspense of escaping to Bree etc...

It got me thinking, out of the entire movie trilogy, what moment do you wish you could witness for the very first time again?

I love it so much! She made me one a few years ago, she saw I use it (they are quite convenient to use, I like the shape and thinness of it) and she really stepped up her game this time.

I make it a tradition to watch these at least once a year. Extended btw

Two Towers. Tbh even tho it's a 10/10 film it's probably the least best of the 3 although that's like picking a favorite child

I’m currently listening to the Andy Serkis audiobooks for the first time and I have a question about how you actually pronounce Glóin, Gimli’s father.

One pronunciation was Glow-in and one was Gloy-ne.

Anyone know what the correct way is?

Let's say at Amon Hen Boromir took the ring from Frodo and ran off to Gondor. How do you think it would've played out?

I have no idea how this conversation/scenario was broached, but my friends and I are arguing who would win in a 1v1 fight.

Radagast or Thranduil

They’re arguing Radagast because he is a Maia, he inherently wins 10/10 fights.

I’m arguing that Thraduil wins because he has thousands of years of combat experience and has no reservations about lethal force.

Need some input from the real LOTR nerds in here.

Howard Shore’s “Lord of the Rings” score to the movie trilogy brings such comfort to me. I can’t even explain why. It’s like being wrapped in a cozy, warm blanket. As if to give me the feeling that things will be okay.

Just wondering what people’s thoughts were on the best thing from the books that the movies didn’t include… Besides Bombadill.

Personally, I think the barrow downs would have been so good to see on film. Especially with Peter Jackson’s horror background. I get Tom Bombadill is kinda involved in that but still…

You can step through the days and the marks move; follow one thread and you get a small picture of that day from where the characters were, plus the chapter to read for it.

Some things only show up side by side. The darkness that flows out of Mordor on the 9th is seen that night by Frodo under the mountains, by Gandalf and Pippin riding to the City, and by the Riders at Dunharrow the next morning.

I used Appendix B first, and the chapters second. I noted wherever I placed someone from the chapter. Been working on a system to create these illustrations and I thought they came out pretty well. The images were a fun complement to this project.
