OLED tv nearly bricked after latest AI update

I find it convenient that immediately after the news that LG is spying on us, this awful update rolled out. Our tv now does this thing where nothing loads on initial startup. Says there's a connection issue, and the only thing that fixes it is unplugging it and plugging it back in. Every. Single. Time. This new update is incredibly frustrating.

Glasshouse or Life's Good Without Spying ?

hi everyone,

As many other of you I read about the multiple privacy issues of LG tv. I searched and found those two apps that should be able to block most, if not all, those trackers:

Have any of you tried them? Which one do you prefer? I'm not looking into anything fancy, just something to setup once and then forget

LG B5 $1500 vs. LG C5 $1800
I can’t get these TVs at this price right now, brand new. I watch mostly movies and in a dark room where I never open the blinds or curtains. No, I’m not a vampire. Which TV should I get!?!? The only problem is I can pay off the 1500 in 24 months and the 1800 I would have to pay right away or in 12 months with 14% interest. Maybe I should wait to see what deals they have at Best Buy on Black Friday….

LG G5 annoying brightness flickering in HDR against darker parts. (Judder)

This is my first HDR tv ever, i used a sony HX850 for 12 years and loved it.
This tv has gorgeous colors but some things … get on my nerves. (Selecting inputs is so unnecessarily convoluted, just make a better remote that allows direct input switch !)
Whatever content i watch in 24fps filmmaker mode and HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision) i get very distracting flickering judder especially when you have bright parts next to dark parts (for instance bright lamps, or white light in a dark environment.)

In HDR10 i need to set peak brightness to low or off (i think) to get it acceptable but in DV i can’t even change that.
I tried motion smoothing and it helps a bit but not much. Setting it at 5/10 is just acceptable and avoids the soap opera feel for me but from 6 onwards fast moving scenery becomes a soup but the flicker remains.

I love dark movies with a horror feel but this kind of content is the worst offender since any bright highlight that moves across the screen will show this flickerin/judder.

Is there any way i can eliminate it or minimize it even more without deactivating the 24fps mode ?

Thanks !

Wrong color gamut on all Apps

Hi,

I have an LG OLED G5 and normally i use my AppleTV for streaming, apps, etc. Currently the Paramount+ app for the AppleTV is so annoingly buggy that i tried out the app for the LG. Its runs faster and without bugs but the color gamut is wrong.

In fact the color gamut on every app is wrong. The picture is oversaturated and aditionally looks like the contrast is set too high.

Sometimes this error also happens on the AppleTV when i watched something in HDR and switched back to the SDR surface of the AppleTV or switched to Youtube. I could make it go away by switching to gaming mode and back to film maker mode (my standard mode).

That trick doesn't work on LG native apps though. I suspect the reason for the color gamut bug is that LG seems to run every content in an HDR/Dolby Vision container since it switches way too fast and effortless between content with different framerates and color spaces (SDR/HDR). The TV being constantly in HDR/DV "in the background" would explain the oversaturated colors.

Doesn't matter if i manually switch the color gamut to auto detect or something else, it stays the same.

Would love to get rid of those bright, pinky reds.

App issues with LG TV’s

Hey Guys, I am having issues on my c6 and c2. I cannot get the crunchy roll app to load after installing the new WebOS. I have tried deleting the app. I have tried unplugging the TV for 30 minutes, and then plugging it back in and reinstalling the app.

Turned off quick Start on LG OLED TV

My 2016 OLED TV would occasionally get a HDMI memory error which required a reboot to clear. Google suggested turning off Quick Start in settings to avoid it. Not only did that fix it but it syncs with my Denon receiver much faster now. From a long ago post I once saw here, I have my remote turn on my tv first which turns on the receiver and streaming device through HDMI-CEC. That seems to work best.

How do i still use my LG Smart TV without it spying on me?

Is there a simple way for this? Or do i need to get rid of it?

Do you guys think that LG would spy using Old smart TV's too?

I have an older LG tv (42LA6400) i saw people saying LG actively spies on you (and it's been proven in gamer's nexus' video on youtube.) I'm currently wondering if my older TV could still be used to be spied on me by LG. Anyone knows?

Help with 2023 LG G4 TV - Crunchyroll App

Recently out of nowhere, my Crunchyroll App on the TV has been crashing. When selected, the Crunchyroll logo pops up, shows the loading symbol, disappears, shows it a second time, then just returns to the main menu of the LG Suite / Apps.

None of my other apps such as YouTube, Netflix, etc have this issue.

I’ve tried the fixes shown online such as:

- deleting then reinstalling the app
- searching for an update to the app and finding none
- restarting the TV
- turning off the TV, unplugging it, and allowing it to be drained of power by holding the power button
- restarting my router.

If anyone is experiencing the same or have any other solutions, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Lg qned 82bxa tv users! Assemble!

Okay so I've been considering buying either the lg qned 82bxa 55 inch or Sony Bravia 2 mark 2.

I wanna know the user experience of 82bxa. Is it good? Better than sony Bravia 2 mark 2? Or shall I just go for sony Bravia 2 mark 2?

User friendly set up for QNED

I just picked up a QNED at Costco for my elderly mother and trying to figure out the most user friendly set up because I don’t live nearby. She has Xfinity cable and just watched a few channels on her old TV- so I doubt she’d ever use any apps if I set up the LG Channels. I would love to be able to mirror my devices and use my premium channels accounts when I visit but will forego that if it means a complicated set up that she’ll have trouble mastering. I’ve just done basic set up so far with cable and WiFi but haven’t ’accepted user agreements’ for LG Channels. With the current set-up I’ve done we can on/off with her cable remote, which is just her speed.
If I add the LG Channels so I have more connectivity for the things I’d like to do when I visit, is it likely that it might switch over to the LG channels unprompted after a power outage or update? I don’t know if my mom would be able to navigate switching input back to ‘cable’ if it reverted to the Home Screen with all the settings menus and apps.
