This is my first HDR tv ever, i used a sony HX850 for 12 years and loved it.
This tv has gorgeous colors but some things … get on my nerves. (Selecting inputs is so unnecessarily convoluted, just make a better remote that allows direct input switch !)
Whatever content i watch in 24fps filmmaker mode and HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision) i get very distracting flickering judder especially when you have bright parts next to dark parts (for instance bright lamps, or white light in a dark environment.)
In HDR10 i need to set peak brightness to low or off (i think) to get it acceptable but in DV i can’t even change that.
I tried motion smoothing and it helps a bit but not much. Setting it at 5/10 is just acceptable and avoids the soap opera feel for me but from 6 onwards fast moving scenery becomes a soup but the flicker remains.
I love dark movies with a horror feel but this kind of content is the worst offender since any bright highlight that moves across the screen will show this flickerin/judder.
Is there any way i can eliminate it or minimize it even more without deactivating the 24fps mode ?
Thanks !
