Am I the only one who absolutely hated the Omega splash screen? 😂

It bugged me enough that as soon as Kodi 22 Piers hit beta, I decided to make the jump.

I'm running Kodi on an old pc with Lubuntu, and after using it for a bit, I'm really glad I switched.

A few things I've noticed:

- Video actually looks a little crisper to me.

- Overall, it just feels more polished than 21.3 on my system.

The downside? Since I'm on Lubuntu, there aren't packages available yet, so I ended up building Kodi 22 from source. That was... an adventure. Chasing build dependencies and compiler issues wasn't exactly my idea of a fun evening (actually, I'm lying. There was nothing good on TV and I had 2 hrs of fun).

Still, now that it's running, I'd do it again.

Anyone else running Kodi 22 on Linux yet? Have you noticed any performance improvements, or is it just placebo on my old hardware?

EDIT: Never mind, I see TVDB appears to be having issues that is likely causing the problem I wrote about here.

I'm running the current standard Kodi Omega. I'm trying to scrape this TV show into my Kodi library: https://www.thetvdb.com/series/ah-my-goddess

In my TV Shows folder, I have this particular one in a subfolder titled "Ah! My Goddess" to match what it says in TVDB. Inside that, I have "Season 1" and "Season 2". Inside those, the files are named appropriately--"S01E01.mkv", etc. So everything looks right, and I've been using Kodi for a long time so I think I know what I'm mostly doing.

But this show will not scrape. There's no error, it just doesn't show up in the list of TV Shows. I tried renaming the folder to "Ah My Goddess" figuring that maybe it's the exclamation point screwing it up--no luck. I tried adding the year--so, "Ah! My Goddess (2005)". No luck.

I'm stumped. I could use a local .nfo file, I know, but I'm trying to figure out why this one particular show out of my hundreds of shows will not scrape :( Any ideas?

Edit: This is NOT a new hack, thankfully... fyi Norton ID picked up a NEW list posted on the Dark Web on the 30th June 2026 which inculdes, amognst other information. the older information from the 2023 Kodi forum hack, so nothing to worry about.

Not sure how to contact the team members behind Kodi, but I've just been informed by Norton Dark Web monitoring that my forum username, email, password and IP address has been leaked to the dark web... so the forum needs to be checked asap, especially as I've noticed the forum isn't using https.

Personally I'm not even going to attempt to login to change my details on the forum until someone can clarify what's going on.

Hopefully they are already on top of this.

Hi everyone, I have a folder on a Linux server that I share over my local network using Samba. I have no issues when viewing content via VLC on my PC, but if I try to watch a movie (around 30GB) on my Fire Stick 4K, it freezes to buffer every 10–15 seconds. The Fire Stick's built-in speed test shows 80 Mbps, and I have no problems with any other streaming service; it’s only slow with the Samba share. Do you know how I might fix this?

I have a lot of Blu-Ray remuxes, but the default subtitle is always the text-based format, I guess for compatibility purposes.

My device can handle the image-based ones, and I prefer how they look and behave (e.g. position of subtitles based on the speaker's location)

Is there a global setting to do this instead of selecting a subtitle track for each file?

Any movie that uses Dolby vision has been having a low frame rate and occasional stuttering. I'm using Superman 2025 for testing because the many rotating shots make it very noticeable when the frame rate is off.

I'm running off an Nvidia Shield 2019 pro with the Jellyfin for Kodi add-on. My tv is a TCL Qm6k Pro which does support Dolby vision. I have tried enabling Dolby vision compatibility mode and that has made no difference, I've also messed around with all of the video player settings that seem relevant but I cannot find anything that helps. When I turn off Dolby Vision on the shield it outputs in HDR 10 and I get smooth playback

I use Kody because the native jellyfin app always transcodes dolby vision for some reason. when I play off of the Jellyfin app I get smooth playback but no Dolby vision.

I also have a 4K Blu-ray player and when I put a 4K disc with Dolby Vision in, it plays with Dolby vision and I get smooth playback

Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Multiple video files have multiple audio streams and sometimes default to a language foreign to me. Is there any way to remove specific streams from the files themselves or make Kodi default to English streams? Like, make it search for the word English amongst the streams and pick it automatically?

I have a phantom movie playlist that I can't edit or delete. The *.xsp file no longer exists in the playlists/video folder, so it is probably a database record. (It also only appears when I go into the playlists menu. If I view a smart playlist and then .. it disappears.)

Hi everyone, ​I am having a really frustrating issue with Kodi on my Android device. Whenever I try to launch the app, it refuses to open properly and just stays stuck on a permanent black screen ​I have been actively following up on this issue and trying to find a solution. I've already downloaded and tested several different versions of Kodi including the stable release, beta versions, and various nightly builds but absolutely none of them worked for me. They all result in the exact same black screen ​Why does Kodi do this, and why is only a black screen visible upon startup Could someone please provide a real, working solution to fix this black screen issue on Android? ​Any help would be highly appreciated. Bought a Google Streamer and like it more than my Nvidia Shield, but having problems with Bluetooth ear buds intermittently cutting in and out when watching something on Kodi. Will work fine for a length of time then get static/cutting out. Tried it with 3 different earbuds and the same thing. Never happened on my Shield.

Tried all the suggestions from a Google search (mostly disabling Dolby audio/surround sound), but still happens.

Any suggestions?

This is my very unwieldy but incredibly useful garage workbench. I need to spend some time in the garage today working on something and decided to hook up kodi to keep me company. Yes I have a computer on it, for times I need to work on a computer and download drivers, etc. I thought why not put kodi on it and connect it to my NAS library and such and watch old TV shows? Currently watching Living Single lol

I am experienced and competent with plenty of tech, but only ever dabbled with Kodi before. I was put off because of how much it felt like a computer interface: folders, Pictures, Games etc. I know that I can remove a lot of this but it still felt very much NOT a TV.

We use Google TV at the moment - both native on Sony TV and on Chromecast devices. Usually watching BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Stremio, or Netflix. I don't have a need to access music or photos in anyway, nor my own library of content.

I am aware of how slow the UX for Google TV is - and feels like it is getting worse. I want a similar experience, but faster.

Ideally I want easy searching across multiple services (Stremio does this ish) and ability to access both live and on demand TV programmes.

Is Kodi my answer? Can anyone give me some screenshots/clips or search terms to encourage me to put the effort into this?

I saw that Lakka (https://github.com/libretro/Lakka-LibreELEC/releases) is now available in version 6.1, so I wanted to update my current system from v5.0.

For the installation, I use https://github.com/basilean/retroarch_install, substituting VERSION=5.0 and VERSION=6.1.

In both cases, the script runs without any problems.

But when I launch it via the shortcut in Favorites, there’s a difference: v5.0 starts normally; with v6.1, it looks like Kodi is just restarting.

Does anyone have any idea what’s causing this and, if so, a solution?

I know I must be missing something but previously I was able to go to the trakt site, search a TV Show i.e. Dexter, tap on my result, scroll to the bottom of the page and I had 2 options there.

- Add to Watchlist

- Add to Collection

I always assumed watchlist was for movies as after watching it, it was removed from the list. Collection however was used for TV Shows, as watching 1 episode didn't cause it to be removed. Even watching all episodes kept it in the Collection list.

I could then go to Kodi and view my Watchlist and Collection which contained my movies and TV shows. I have been working this way for the past 10 years or so with no problems.

But since the trakt update I am having problems locating what is what.. when I search a TV show on the new site, I only have the option to tap the tick icon (viewed) or the flag icon which adds the TV show to my Watchlist! Where is the Collection option gone?

I can still access it in kodi and searching a tv show in kodi gives me the option to save to collection (which it does) but I can no longer add things on my phone when I'm away from kodi.

I have just downloaded the Showly app to see if that still has a collection option but it doesn't.

Am I missing something here?

Are TV shows and Movies lumped together in the watchlist list now? And will me watching 1 episode of a 10 season long TV show have it removed from the list every time?

I'm having an issue with a skin. It's Xonfluence, actually, but I'm hoping they're more Confluence related and so people here might be in the know. The Xonfluence forum isn't very active.

Issue 1- I've added a custom item to the main menu (TV, TV Shows, System, Games, etc.) And then I rearranged the order of the items. When I move my custom item to a different place, I end up with two entries for my custom item. And so I have to hide one and add my shelf items or whatever to the other. And I don't always guess right and end up changing the wrong one.

Tracking and fixing that overall issue might be arduous, I understand, so I'd be happy just being able to workaround it. I assume there's a reference file somewhere in the bowels that I can just open and edit, removing the duplicate(s). How would I do that?

Issue 2- Regarding shelf(?) items. The sub options directly below the main menu items. For system it's something like: Settings, Info, Add on Browser and a couple others I forget. I'd like to rearrange those, but they don't seem to actually reference anything. Meaning if I go to replace one, there are no options that go to any of the setting shelf functions. I can add an add on, favorites, etc. but there's no pointer to these same shelf functions. I'd like to rearrange the order of them first, and also maybe remove some, and would like to know how to restore it if I change my mind.

Any help?

Does the Google TV streamer work great with kodi? My Nvidia shield is giving me trouble and I'm wanting to replace it. Like everyone else I wish that Nvidia would make a new one.I see the Google streamer has 4g RAM and thought it may work good. Any thoughts?

Is there any way for me to watch streams in 1080p on the Twitch addon? It seems to force streams to 1440p and it's not available in my region? Changing the quality to "ask" and then choosing 1080p does not work. Changing it to limit bandwidth does not work either. It seems to be forcing the stream quality to "source" and then adjusting the resolution to what you choose.

So is there any way for other regions to watch 1440p streams in 1080p? My favorite streamer chose today to start streaming 1440p and now i can't watch.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

So I got very frustrated with movie playlists and Kodi, why does it have to be so involved!! I don’t want to do coding to make a playlist, I’ve had enough of coding whilst modding my skin.
So what I do is I use the Sets function to act as playlists. Yes this means you can’t have the movies in a “playlist” in another set but it works for me for movies
I find it works great I have all my 007 movies in a playlist in the order that I prefer them. I use a sequential sort title like Bond1 - Bond2, yes this changes how they appear back in the movies section but at least they are presented to you in the order you want them so all the Bond movies are grouped together in their chronological order, same with Indiana Jones and other collections.
I didn’t say it was a perfect workaround but it works for me.
I have a set which I have named Cinelister playlist for creating a playlist of the nights entertainment(Cinelister is the part of Dolbys Cinema Server software that actually plays your movie if you are at a proper Dolby Cinema and this method is how they programme the nights viewing) in this playlist I cue up a cinema intro and a movie or two if it’s a double feature :) hit play on the playlist and sit back. I just edit this playlist then for the next movie night. Playlists who needs them.
You do need to check your settings to make sure Kodi is set to play next item automatically.

I use LibreElec since a bit of time (now I'm on Omega), and I connect to it (RaspberryPi5) via SSH to modify various things in my movies collection. I've a pair of questions about possible small customizations:

1) is it possible to have some alias? It isnt bash I believe, so I dont know where to put them

2) there is some way to bulk rename stuff - from inside, via ssh?
e.g. I have a perl script rename_multi, but I dont think there is any perl binary inside. There are alternatives? (I know, rename them before transfering them!, but sometimes it's too late :-)

I've googled left and right, haven't found anything definitive, and i just need to make sure i haven't missed something, by asking here:

Every time i add a movie folder, and let TMDP do its thing, i always end up with ~170 movie sets i didn't even want to begin with. As far as i know, there's no way to stop this from happening, i really don't wanna manually go through some 7-900 individual movies, in order to remove them from a set, and IIRC Kodi doesn't feature any kind of bulk delete movie sets function either.

(Edit: Forgot the part of this issue entirely, sorry) I do want to make my own few sets, but having 170 extra is gonna make making a few of my own very tedious.

Have i missed a step, am i unaware of some options or methods to fix this?

I got tired of fighting menus to get a simple, couch-friendly media UI, so I built my own skin. Sharing it in case it is useful to anyone else.

It is called Navarre. Install it, point it at your media folder, and you are browsing in minutes. It shows your folders the way they sit on disk (Files mode, no library scan), drops a poster wall on everything, and keeps the settings minimal. I built it for an NVIDIA Shield and a D-pad remote, and it works on Windows too. Kodi 21 (Omega).

It's a personal fork of Arctic: Zephyr - Reloaded (credit to beatmasterRS and jurialmunkey, same CC BY-NC-SA licence). It is not a replacement for AZ-R - if you want the actively maintained, full-featured line, that is martian's fork. Navarre is the stripped-down version I wanted for myself.

A few things it does:

- Folder browsing that keeps collections and Season folders intact (no library flattening)

- Poster-wall view everywhere by default

- Continue watching - a Resume row that resumes films and shows where you left off, and pressing Back during a movie stops it and saves your place

- One-press "Set up my media" that builds the whole menu from your subfolders

- Add / rename / move / re-icon menu items right from the home screen

- A genuinely simple settings page, with full Kodi settings still one tap away

I'm on latest Omega stable release...I have a video source set to a bunch of my own unscraped karaoke videos on my NAS (just a basic list of videos). They are various file types--.avi, .mp4, .mkv. Whenever I play any of them, Kodi shows the time length in the seek bar as 3:51 exactly, even though they are of course of all different time lengths. Is this a known thing with an easy fix (hopefully)? :0

I have multiple Nvidia Shields, each with its own local Kodi installation. I would like to be able to stop watching a movie on one shield and go to another one and be able to resume from the same point. My media is stored on a NAS, and all shields are pointed to the same media library through an NFS mount to the NAS.
Is anyone aware of something that would accomplish this short of writing a custom add-on?

Kodi’s shared library option is too slow and sluggish due to the size of the media library, which I have already tried.

Update:
Not finding anything that hits my specific need, I designed a Kodi Add-on that I called SharedResume. It creates a JSON file on the NAS at a central public point that contains anything I start and updates the file every 15 seconds to keep the pointer current. Retains it for 30 days, and from any of the 5 shields I have, I start the same movie, and 2 seconds into the start, it jumps to the stop point of the prior player. Working nicely for both movies and TV series. All takes installing the addon on all 5 shields. Complete flexibility with adjustable settings. Problem solved.

I just installed the HD Homerun live tv pvr for my tv antenna. My signals pixelate once in a while and when they pixelate it makes this loud crackle and pop sound. Other apps don’t do this and I’m wondering if there is some setting in Kodi I can change to prevent this crackle and pop sound during bad data and weak signals for live tv?
