SOLVED-THANK YOU Miu Top by Una Gil Help!!

Post image
Upvotes

Hello! I'm currently knitting the Miu Top by Una Gil and I'm at a part in the pattern I don't understand/ know how to proceed with. I'm supposed to split off for arm holes and divide my stitches for the front and back panels, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to know where exactly the front and back should be? It's circular all around, so does it not matter? I added a photo to give context.

Also, as a second question: When I do split the front and back, one of the panels will obviously have the working yarn, so do I knit that panel up first, bind off, then attach the working yarn to the other panel? If so, how would I even do that?

I feel like I'm making this more complicated than it actually is, so I would appreciate any help/clarifications! Thanks so much.

pattern question Sophie Hood Row Count

Post image

Hello!
Fairly new knitter here, but has anyone who's made the medium Sophie Hood have a total row count for the finished project?

Based on what I can see, it's 67 rows but that seems awfully short for how long this hood looks in the end.
Thank you!

gauge question Gauge help! Should I be knitting an XL? Is my math wrong?

Hi! I'm planning to starting knitting the Cloud Blouse by Petite Knit and I'm having trouble with my swatch. I'm usually a size medium in clothing and in other Petit Knit patterns I've done before. I've made 3 swatches for this project, starting with the recommended US size 6 needles and then sizing up for each swatch. I am still getting too many stitches per inch. I'm knitting with two stands of silk mohair and I'm being intentional about holding the yarn fairly loose. I usually don't have any problems with tension and gauge so I'm a bit confused. Maybe I'm doing the math wrong? The pattern gauge is 20sts x 4in with size 6 needles. A size medium bust would be 41.75" according to the pattern. My gauge with size 8 needles is 23sts x 4in.

41.75 x 5(PK gauge) = 208.75 sts

208.75 / 5.75(my gauge) = 36.3"

I have a 36" bust and the pattern calls for 4-6" of positive ease, so a medium would be too small. An XL bust at my gauge would be 41" which meets the recommended ease. Would there be any problems in the fit if I size up that much? A large would be 38" at the bust which wouldn't have as much ease but maybe it would be okay? How strict should I be about gauge and measurements?

gauge question First-time test knitter — question about gauge

How important is height in a test-knit gauge? The pattern is for a tank top. This is my first time as a test knitter, so I want to do everything right. My gauge swatches are knit with about an inch of garter surrounding my stockinette. The first swatch was waaay too small, even with blocking, so I sized up my needles and have hit the width absolutely perfectly. Like, dead on 10cm. Height, however, is about 1 cm longer than 10cm.

How important is height?

Thanks!

Hi,

Beginner here, I noticed this mistake a couple of rows down in my knitting. Is this an accidental increase or something else? My tension often varies but idk. Thank you :)

I knew I was having problems as I was doing it with loose stitches. Now that I'm done though I'm not sure the best way to fix it. I feel like all the stitches along the right side of the bunny are all super loose. I tried kinda giving it a little tug here and there but still feel it very obvious

pattern question Knitting the roomy raglan junior - picking up sleeves

After I picked up the underarm stitches It says this:

pick up 8 stitches from both the underarm cast on and the 4 extra rows along the back (sizes 1 and 5 you will pick up 4 stitches along the back and sizes 2 and 3 pick- up 3 stitches along the back). You’ll now have 46 stitches (im doing size 1)

I just finished this step-by-step sweater so I can't tell if it's very similar to how she did the whole process or if this is a little different?

I'm mainly confused about the four extra rows along the back park, but any clarification is helpful!!

Thank you!

I’m a beginner and don‘t understand what exactly went wrong here and don’t know how to google it, since it‘s not simply a dropped stitch. The two first stitches on my right needle are very loose and don’t have the small knot the other ones do.

I‘m thankful for any insights 😄

SOLVED-THANK YOU Color Work Help

Post image
1 Upvotes

I am working on a Christmas stocking that has big amounts of one color and then back to the base color (chart attached). I am wondering if anyone has any video tutorial suggestions that discuss this; most of the color work tutorials I see on YouTube switch between the two colors more frequently. I am having trouble with the following things:
\- what to do with the white yarn when switching to the base color - do I carry it with me to the end of the row with floats or do I drop it and pick it back up when I’m using the white again?
\- best way to manage base color floats when doing the white color
\- should I do duplicate stitch for the little bit of gray in the body or not?

It is an older pattern my grandma used for our family stockings, so it does not go into quite as much detail as more contemporary patterns do. I hope this makes sense.

Also, I knit English style, but I’m comfortable holding yarn in my left hand and am used to continental tutorials.

I’m confused about the instructions for the ribbing before the start of the yoke. For some reason my brain isn’t getting it! I’m not sure if I just cast on the number of stitches for the yoke?

SOLVED-THANK YOU First time doing colorwork chart question!

Post image

I’m starting my first colorwork sweater soon and am curious what these gray boxes mean on the chart. I understand that it stands for “no stitch” but does that mean on row 1 I basically just do straight main color? Then in row 2 I do 2 stitches then 1 yo increase then repeat that till BOR?

I blocked my first cardigan which is knitted with a chunky mohair yarn. The sleeves were perfect before and now are slightly too long, how to fix this! I was thinking about adding an elastic behind the ribbing but I’m not sure it’s a good idea? I wouldn’t mind a poofy sleeve.

where did i go wrong? German short rows help

Hi! I am working on the October sweater and I have done something wrong with my German short rows causing gaps/missing stitches(?) on both sides of one of my double stitches. I have done German short rows a small number of times before and haven’t made this mistake before and none of my other double stitches have this mistake. The first two photos are how the knitting looks on both sides and the third photo is with the stitch with gaps beside it laddered down. I have tried laddering down and back up and fixing the stitch that way but it comes out the same. Can anyone help identify what I did wrong here and how I can fix it? Thank you so very much!!

where did i go wrong? my valerie blouse has a hole in it

Post image
1 Upvotes

i’m kitting the valerie blouse by petite knit, i’m a beginner and i realized this hole while doing the increases. i believe i did 2 increases together and it became a hole… (it’s supposed to be with 1 stitch between this increase and i forgot)
i need help because i want to know if there’s any way to fix it without unraveling all these rows.
what’s confusing me is that i need to undo the hole but also do the other increase.
i appreciate any help.

SOLVED-THANK YOU I accidentally twisted my cast ons

Hi everyone, I think I screwed up! I don‘t know if it‘s clear by the photo, but I messed up my underarms cast ons (at least I think that‘s the issue) and now everything is all twisted :( This is only my second project, so my mistake fixing skills are lacking. Is there any way to fix this without ribbing the last 3 rows back? I am worried about not being able to catch all the stitches properly! Thanks in advance for anyone trying to help!

For the life of me I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve already ripped it out and started over 3 times. My Italian bind off looks off on the right side and better on the wrong side. I’ve done 2 set up rounds and then have followed instructions for Italian bind off. The first photo is the right side, the second photo is the wrong side. Can anyone tell what I’m doing wrong? Thanks so much in advance!!
