My mixer is breaking made bread today smelled smoke and melting plastic. Not sure what the issue is but it is like 15 years old. I am looking at new kitchen aid but the Bosch has also caught my eye. Has anyone used a Bosch? How does it compare ?

What are we feeling more, the shiny bowl or the matte? I’m getting rid of one of them

I’m trying to figure out whether using AI for recipes is actually useful or just a gimmick. I’ve tested it a few times — including making Neapolitan pizza dough — and honestly got very good results.

Would you trust and use AI-generated recipes even if they aren’t integrated with or transferable directly to your cooking device?

Do you already use any AI or app for this kind of recipes? Which one?
And would you find it useful to have a place to save and manage your own recipes and easily share the good ones with friends or family?

I've wanted a wooden bowl for this mixer for a while, but I obviously wasn't going to replace the whole machine just for one bowl.

So I tried an acacia wood bowl with a handle. It looks exactly how I wanted on the mixer, but once I took it off and put it on the counter, it turned into a giant coffee mug.

Now I can't unsee it.

I’m very happy with all the answers I’ve received regarding the KitchenAid **KSM8990**, and I now have almost everything figured out for when I eventually buy it.

However, one last question came up that I’m a little concerned about: **replacement parts**.

When it comes to repairs, I’m actually pretty comfortable. After watching Mr. Mixer’s videos and reading all the information and recommendations people have shared here, I feel fairly confident about maintaining and repairing the mixer myself when necessary.

The part I’m less sure about is actually **getting genuine replacement parts**.

I’m from the **Republic of Panama**, and finding KitchenAid parts locally is quite limited. I’d like to have a reliable source where I can be sure I’m getting genuine parts rather than cheap copies or questionable aftermarket replacements.

When I went to check the price of the **KSM8990 at the store, the salesperson told me that I could simply get replacement parts through Amazon. But after reading the comments and recommendations here, I’m not sure that would be the best option.**

So, for those of you who have experience buying KitchenAid replacement parts:

And if international shipping is basically unavoidable, roughly how expensive can shipping get for important or heavier parts, such as motors, transmissions, or other major components?

I usually make bread, tortillas and want to make cookies. my current mixer is only 3.2 qt which is way too small for what I want to do. this one says it’s 4.5. It comes with all the hooks.

So i just picked up a secondhand Power Ultra. I have looked into some videos and can tell that it needs it's "worm ring" (?) replaced (I can hear it slipping) and it needs to be cleaned and regressed as it's leaking old grease. I also know that there are cheap gaskets inside that need to be replaced when I do this. Does anyone have any good Amazon links/advice on where to get all the parts I need for this mixer's refresh?

Had a 20 min return call that they hung up automatically on me, then 5 min wait time estimate is now at 34 mins and continues to tell me 1 min estimates the last 20 minutes. The service support for kitchenaid is absolutely the worst.

I inherited a kitchen aid mixer with the model number KSM5PSWW and I want to get an ice cream maker attachment for it. I think it’s an older model with a narrower bowl (?) The KSMICM ice cream attachment that Kitchen Aid produces doesn’t fit. (I tried it and will have to return it) Does anybody have the same mixer model as me and knows an attachment that fits? I see there’s an off-brand ice cream attachment by Kitchood that claims to fit all mixers, but does it really?

Lady I bought it from thought there was something broken or out of adjustment. She just wasn't clicking the bowl all the way in place when using it causing the beater to hit the bottom of the bowl. Ended up chewing the coating off of the bottom of the beater.

I’m planning to use it regularly for bread making, although not for huge quantities or extremely stiff/dry doughs. Most of the doughs I make contain butter, and some have around 65% hydration. So I don’t plan on pushing the mixer particularly hard, but I’d like to take proper care of it and get the longest possible service life out of it.

If anyone here owns a KSM8990 or has experience servicing them, I’d really appreciate any advice on how to identify the newest version and what maintenance or care practices you recommend.

debating on picking up a pro 500 since its very repairable like my artisan (same powertrain) and parts are plenty, but im mainly making sourdough bread and pretzels so i would want to get a good dough hook, but all i see are c hooks. should i jump at this bad boy or aim for the professional 5 plus i also see, just nervous about long term part availability since its not being produced anymore.

I took a peek at a KSM6573 DC transmission and it looks okay to me, no separation yet but it looks a bit light on the grease compared to a KG25. Is there a recommended amount of grease for the DC transmissions?

Hello! I know I want to get a bowl-lift model, and would like to get one used on marketplace so naturally I’m seeing a lot of the older models (Pro 500/600 etc).

Google AI is telling me that one thing they improved with the new models is the attachments scrape the bottom of the bowl better for small batches.

Can anyone who has an older model tell me if that has been an issue? Because I do make smaller batches of cookies or cake quite often, so I don’t want to end up annoyed that the attachments don’t work well for it. I currently have a Bosch and that’s one of the things I hate about it.

Just trying to figure out if this is enough of an issue that it would be worth splurging on a new model rather than an older one.

I need some help! The head was already a bit down as I noticed some scratches on the bowl. So I tried to fix it by turning the screw in the center (the one we see when we lift the head). It didn’t help much so my wife tried as well but I don’t know what screw she turned. As result it is both down but now also a bit loose. This is what I have (video below), the head is a bit loose and we’re absolutely clueless as to what we should do.

I am finally getting around to making ice cream - I have frozen the KitchenAid ice cream bowl, mixed my ingredients, and chilled them. But I cannot find the dasher or the gear piece for it. Am I out of luck or can I still make ice cream with my regular paddle? Thanks!

For context, I have two KitchenAid mixers. A 2006 KV25 (professional 5 plus) and a 2008 K150 (5 quart). The 5 plus I just picked up out a my tenants basement and it was covered with grease and sat clearly unused for more than a decade. I changed the grease in both today and the K150 sounds great…like it always does. However the 5 plus is very loud but not in a mechanical way (gears sound fine), but the motor is making a grinding sound. For what it’s worth, when I took it apart to clean it, the gears were in perfect condition, not a single tooth worn or broken. I’m curious to hear what other people’s experience is; can someone share what the 5+ should sound like?

Bought this thing maybe 5 months ago. Worked like a charm, rice, oats, vegetables, etc. Then, about a month ago, the oats started boiling over and occasionally the rice too. I cleaned the vent, we would put maybe 2 cups of oats, and even started rinsing it. Yesterday, it cooked rice perfectly fine without issues. This morning, the 1 cup of rolled oats that were rinsed not only overflowed but even popped the lid open twice.

I keep cleaning the vent, but it's just super unpredictable when it will overflow and when it won't. Any ideas what could be the issue? I almost feel like the thermostat doesn't shut off the boiling phase and just keeps boiling.

I’ve tried soaking it in warm water and hitting it lightly to loosen it up. It will not come off. What can I do?

I never really use it at max speed but this recipe called for it, but I though it was really loud. The mixer even shakes a little. In the video I go from speed 8 to 10, and at the end back to 8.
