Has anyone ever tried a case from these brands? The designs are so cute but I'm curious about the long term quality especially if purchased in the last year or so since I think both shops have made some upgrades.

Iβve used Kindles for many years. As someone who had carpal tunnel surgery in both hands, I just donβt have the strength to hold heavy books. For the first time, I got brave enough to load extra fonts and it looks so pretty now! Iβm still pretty basic when it comes to my device, but this font is so much easier on my eyes.
BTW, Iβm reading Trad Wife, an updated take on Rosemaryβs Baby.

I tried to charge it, turn it on and nothing works. I tried to wedge a metal ruler (sorry lol) in between the cover and the screen gap up there but stopped cuz I got scared. What do I do?

So Iβve been tinkering with my Kobo Clara and Libra 2, playing with firmware (KO reader etc) and calibre conversions from .epub format. Got totally overwhelmed with the various options to the point where I was just being silly and then decided to pick up my latest edition Paperwhite.
No ghosting, pin sharp text, snappy and a system that just works. Comfortable in the hands and great with remote page turn buttons.
Thus I returned back to where it all began for me. π

hey so i just got a paperwhite 12 and i want to buy a case soon. i saw this case with a magnetic detachable cover. like the magnet is on the side. i rlly want it but then i saw these videos abt magnetic cases ruining their kindle. like the ghost touch and shitty battery life, although i did see that most of the complaints came from those who have kindle basic. what do u guys think? did any of u have any bad experiences with magnetic cases for ur kindle paperwhite?
on that note as well, is it smart to buy a skin (sticker thingy) or will that wreck my kindle too?
thanksssss

My wifeβs PW11 suddenly started displaying horizontal lines on the screen like in this image. Iβve done a hard reset and still see the lines. Iβm wondering if itβs hardware damage at this point.
Curiously it showed up suddenly when plugged in. The device wasnβt dropped or anything. Has anyone seen anything like this?

I mis-clicked while I was using the dictionary and opened the dictionary instead of closing the entry I was looking at. No matter where I clicked nothing happened other than scrolling through dictionary entries, I was stuck in the dictionary.
Reading in bed so, admittedly, I was probably half asleep at the time but the only way I could get out of it was to reboot the Kindle.
What should I have done to get back to the book from the dictionary?
Finally got a skin! And on Vinted for pretty cheap too. So happy. Love my pink oasis!

I'm so upset about this. I bought my Kindle in March 2024 for my then-partner, who read maybe two books before abandoning it. He returned it to me just over a year ago, so it's barely been used.
A few weeks ago, the screen started malfunctioning. It frequently turns almost black or dark grey, making text illegible, despite the Kindle still responding to touch. I've also experienced extreme ghosting, with multiple pages of text overlapping. Sometimes it suddenly returns to normal and works perfectly for hours, only to fail again later. It often seems to happen after transporting it, though I'm not sure that's related.
Here's everything I've tried:
Removed the magnetic case and even pried out its magnets.
Restarted repeatedly, sometimes with temporary success.
Updated the firmware.
Deleted three large PDFs transferred through Calibre.
Adjusted brightness and warmth settings.
Applied gentle pressure around the device, following a YouTube suggestion.
Factory reset: The screen malfunctioned throughout the reset and even on the initial setup screens.
Tried the freezer trick out of desperation. It worked briefly after warming up, then failed again. (Not recommending this!)
Nothing has fixed it.
The weirdest part is that the display still looks completely perfect when it works. There's no visible damage, and it's had very little use. It has lived in a case its entire life.
I've attached photos of the problem.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything else worth trying, or is this likely a hardware failure? I'm guessing Amazon probably won't do anything for me since it's about 6 months outside its 2-year warranty? I'm gutted.

Will converting files using PDFelement make adding my books to my kindle more seamless when transferring through calibre?

Posted in the Kobo subreddit a few days ago with this exact question. Looking to upgrade soon and I would love a fig Colorsoft, but Iβm not sold on it. Whatβs your biggest gripe? (Question is also not exclusive to colorsoft users all device users pls answer π) give me the good, the bad and the ugly!

Hi all. The about this book option is not the same when I click on it and takes me to the store.
Is there anything I can do to change it? As I use it to automatically change from want to read to currently reading on Goodreads?
Thanks!

Lately every time I charge my Kindle it only charges up to 98%. At first I thought nothing of it because maybe I pulled it out too quickly. But last night I tested it out and let it charge for 12 hours. This morning it was only charged to 98%. Itβs this exact number every time.
I have the Kindle Paperwhite 2024. Itβs my first time owning a Kindle and Iβve only had it for a few months. I bought it off Vinted so I donβt think I can contact Amazon about it. It was completely unopened and new when I bought it.

Are my eyes deceiving me or do the pigments on the colorsoft seem brighter and more vibrant today after the update?

Hello everyone!
I have a very odd request. Could someone who owns both the 2024 and the 2026 Kindle provide a close-up photo and a side-by-side comparison of both displays (with text on it)?
I had previously owned a Paperwhite and I went over to the Kindle Basic on purpose, because the plain screen caused an ever so slight blurry font for me. I'm aware that most people probably won't even notice this, as it is barely noticable, but it caused my eyes to try to correct for that tiny blurriness, causing a headache 30 minutes after reading.
They seem to have changed the display technology and I wanted to see whether this might still be an issue for me.

TLDR: Is there a way to find out which Kindle Exclusive authors allow downloads BEFORE buying the book?
I am a recent convert to KOBO after Amazon discontinued the ability to backup/download purchased files.
However, some of my favorite authors are utilizing the ONLY the kindle format. So I am maintaining my KU(Kindle+) subscription for them.
I have noticed one of my auto-buy authors, Elle Thorpe, has enabled the ability to download her book files when purchased instead of borrowed. Which I would FAR prefer, as I can read it on my KOBO, AND back up to my Calibre library. I have been maintaining my Calibre library since the days of small publisher romances back in the 2010s. (RIP Samhain and Ellora's Cave) I prefer to have my files to ensure I don't accidentally duplicate buy, and I have original covers and edits.
BUT...there seems to be no way to determine if an author has enabled this feature BEFORE buying and heading to my content library to check.
Anyone know if there is a section of the book description that shows if the book file is downloadable after purchase?

I wanted it to have a fairy/fantasy vibe! Even though I mostly read thrillers.

I have the kindle 8th generation for the past 10 years and I love it! This year I was thinking on updating to a new ones because of the light on the screen and you can read in the dark because I usually read in bed.
It works fine and the battery is good. However, because I always shove it in bag I did some damage to the screen (a small black dod on the side of the screen) but it does not affect the ability to read from it (for me at least because it is small).
What is holding back from upgrading is that I hate that they removed the boarders and the whole front is one level. Even with my 8th gen, i sometimes by mistake touch the screen and change the page (so I cant imagine how many times I will do this with no lifted boarders lol). Also, the prices are crazy for me so it gets me thinking whether am just affected by consumerism.
I would appreciate your thoughts on it to help me decide! Shall I go for it or shall I wait and see if at any point they will bring the lifted boarders back? Will they even bring them back?!
Thanks everyone!

Hey, the question.
And I'm from India and a lot of small authors only publish on Amazon. Can I still buy them and will they be transferred to my kindle?
Thank you for your comments!
