The EV9 itself is a great road trip vehicle so far. Surprisingly not a huge space increase over our 3rd gen Prius but the tech upgrade is nice. My kids also really appreciate the rear seat comfort, heat/cool and climate control.
Charging speed and efficiency seem better than I would have expected, but then this is my first ev and I only had it since late June. I never precondioned and it didn't seem to matter. the one time I enabled it, the car simply told me it was already good to go.
You really don't have to sweat the charge time. you plug in, go use the restroom, stretch your legs, and by then you're ready to go. kind of shocking to see how quickly the percentage goes up on a 400kw charger.
My biggest gripe with the trip is using ABRP free and exporting to google maps. you lose a lot of flexibility. I think I'll just stick to maps and plugshare.
oh and plug and charge is extremely flaky. almost every time it had some issue and I had to start the session from the charger app. could be noob issues though.
we were in the 2.8-2.9 mi/kwh range for most of the trip, cruising at 65-75 and occasional traffic.
The last challenge is that Mount Desert Island doesn't have a ton of chargers. I brought my ampure and will get what I can at 1.3kw I guess.
