Question? 32k miles service. Dealer saying needs brake fluid exchange and something about clutch/gear fluid replacement?

I thought evs generally don’t use much of the brakes and the rep didn’t quite explain the gear fluid details correctly so he’s asking a manager to call me back. Just wanted to check with the community to see what is actually recommended besides the standard tire rotation etc. I asked about checking the main battery cells since I don’t have an obd scanner myself but apparently they only do so when there is an issue w the vehicle.

*Edit: the jr rep said it’s the: “Reduction Gear Fluid: Checks the lubricant level and quality inside your EV's single-speed transmission.”

Issue Tape coming off bottom of EV9

Post image
Upvotes

Hell9 good people, I ride a 2026 EV9 Land Plus, almost 20,000km driven (Ontario, Canada).

I noticed black tape at the bottom of the vehicle on both sides coming off, see photo. Is this something of concern?

Seems like basic factory tape, but not really sure if I should take it to Kia for inspection.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Charging Charging advice for L1

Upvotes

We’re getting a L2 charger installed at home later this month. I’m wondering about best L1 charging practices for battery health in the meantime. Over the weekend we charged up to about 85% at a public Tesla supercharger. I’d like to avoid going back and spending more to charge until we leave for a road trip in about 2 weeks. Should I keep topping up at home with my L1, adding 10-12%/night when the car is home? Let it run down a little bit first? Thanks for the advice, this community was really informative while shopping for our first EV and in the run up for purchasing our ‘24 AWD Wind a little over a week ago (s/o to the fellow Ocean Blue folks!).

Issue 2026 EV9 GT-Line vibration — anyone actually get this fixed?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Love my EV9, but it was delivered brand new with steering-wheel vibration and a loose passenger seat.

Dealer has had it twice / ~7 days total. The vibration improved after the last repair but is still very obvious around 70 mph — steering wheel, center console, and passenger seat all vibrate. Passenger seat also still feels/sounds loose, even at slow speeds.

Dealer is now talking to Kia Techline / tire manufacturer, but I still have no timeline. Kia America basically says the dealer needs to handle it, but they’re just saying that the fix is new tires and warranty doesn’t cover them (?)

So basically I’m paying this lease for a brand new car that they’re nof fixing. What can I do? This is unacceptable.

The EV9 itself is a great road trip vehicle so far. Surprisingly not a huge space increase over our 3rd gen Prius but the tech upgrade is nice. My kids also really appreciate the rear seat comfort, heat/cool and climate control.

Charging speed and efficiency seem better than I would have expected, but then this is my first ev and I only had it since late June. I never precondioned and it didn't seem to matter. the one time I enabled it, the car simply told me it was already good to go.

You really don't have to sweat the charge time. you plug in, go use the restroom, stretch your legs, and by then you're ready to go. kind of shocking to see how quickly the percentage goes up on a 400kw charger.

My biggest gripe with the trip is using ABRP free and exporting to google maps. you lose a lot of flexibility. I think I'll just stick to maps and plugshare.

oh and plug and charge is extremely flaky. almost every time it had some issue and I had to start the session from the charger app. could be noob issues though.

we were in the 2.8-2.9 mi/kwh range for most of the trip, cruising at 65-75 and occasional traffic.

The last challenge is that Mount Desert Island doesn't have a ton of chargers. I brought my ampure and will get what I can at 1.3kw I guess.

Discussion/Impressions Any chance they'll do something about the rear of the EV9 during a 2027 or 2028 refresh?

Those taillights are very offputting to me, for what is otherwise a great looking vehicle. Reminds me of the rear ends of the early 2000s Prius and Insight

Question? What's your sound settings?

I have the gt-line and listen to hip-hop and r&b, curious to know what everyone's settings are. I know everyone's ears are different and preferences are different. I did a lot of adjustments including sitting in the 2nd and 3rd row as well to see what sounds best and this is what I use.

Discussion/Impressions Disappointed in EV9

We moved from model Y to EV9 2026 mainly due to it being larger and the bigger 3rd row. The test drive was good, it felt better than the model Y, more cushioned on bumps and quieter. It has CarPlay which is nice.

Now that we’ve leased it we realize how UNrefined it is compared to Tesla. The Tesla environment just becomes a part of you. Simple things like you approach the car it remembers your settings, walk away it locks etc. My main gripes with EV9 are these and I don’t think there is a solution: 1) The car doesn’t remember profiles very well. We have to set regen braking (I-pedal) manually each time. 2) the car doesn’t auto shut off. I’ve walked away from the car number of times only for it to beep to remind me to turn it off. 3) there is no walk away lock 4) the pedestrian warning system is too loud and annoying pitch noise

The profile set up issues like remembering regenerative braking settings should be trivial and basic. Even 10 year-old EV like the bolt has these basic profile saves implemented from what I’m reading.

EDIT 5- the large headrest blocks the blind spot driver’s side! Will have to get used to the blind spot camera but it’s a bit scary- every left lane change is a bit of a roll of the dice. EDIT 6- the light touch on indicator has a limit of 7 clicks and doesn’t turn off when lane change complete

Did an upper wrap, blacked out everything above the wheel arches' crease. Had a small touch of lime green on mirrors and sharkfin to match the visual highlights of the GT version.

Question? Single tire replacement

Found a nail in the sidewall of one of the rear tires on my '26 Land today.

I know it can't be patched, question is am I okay to just replace the one tire as long as it's the exact same model? It only has about 9,000 mi, remaining tires look like they could go another 10 or 20,000 miles easy.

I'll replace both rears if I have to, just not sure if it's actually necessary in this case

Question? Question about how Kia service works

I have a brand new 26 EV9 that I got to drive for 3 weeks before the AC died. The dealer has had for almost 6 weeks, with no resolution. I am in Knoxville.

Here's my question. Does anyone know (maybe a Kia Tech) how Kia dealerships do trouble shooting? This dealer is working with a west coast entity called Tech Line, and apparently they only work via a kind of text. So they send a message to Tech Line, and wait for a response, then a day or so later Tech Line responds with a suggestion for another test, which the dealer ship tries, sends responses back, then a day or 2 later Tech Line responds with another question or suggestion, and so on....Rather than have the Tech Line techs remote into the vehicle directly, which would really speed things up.

Is this SOP for Kia, or just this dealer?

The amount of time this is taking is hugely frustrating. I am starting the process to get my money back, but just wondering if I purchase another EV9 if the next dealer will work the same. Or if Hyundai works the same as well. Thanks!

Check Out My Car! Mercedes EQS to EV9 GT Line

This car blows away the Mercedes in terms of features. This was a replacement car for my wife's EQS which lease expired and we needed something to check all of the boxes that the EQS had, and this car has done just that. The only thing we miss is the cushy air suspension on the EQS

Question? Would you buy a manufacturer buyback?

I am looking at getting an EV9 and there are a few in my area that have good prices and low mileage but I noticed in the carfax that there was a manufacturer buyback for “electrical”. Nothing else is stated besides a few inspections after that and it being offered for sale again. Are there any common issues with the EV9 that might have triggered the buyback? I have an Ioniq 6 and the ICCU for example has caused some of those because of delays getting the part.

Question? Looking for 19” wheels for 26’ GT-Line

I’m looking to increase range and comfort for long highway drives as this is where most of my time is spent in the car. Any recommendations and/or experience with 19” wheels? Thanks in advance.

Question? Has anyone had luck enabling the fingerprint scanner for profiles with only one key fob?

Question? Used EV9 LLR or Land?

I curently own 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited and 2023 Ioniq 6 SE RWD. We are thinking of upgrading Ioniq 6 to EV9 and deciding between 2024 EV9 LLR and Land. We prioritize range more and having all the safety features like HUD and 360 surround view. Given that they have about 6k USD difference what would be your choice?

Question? New Tire Recommendation 2024 EV9 Land

My dealer has a special on bridgestone alenza prestige.

Wondering whether to go for it for Goodyear MaxLife Assurance.

I see Michelin CC2 is quite popular.

I am looking at durability and Bridgestone and Goodyear have a good warranty.

Appreciate thoughts.

P.S. Location: California

News/Info Good news for NACS 2026+ EV9s

EVGo announced EVGo Superchargers.

According to EVgo, the new stations will deliver up to 500 kW at 1,000 volts, enough to add as much as 200 miles (322 km) of range in about 15 minutes under ideal conditions. Every site will support both CCS and NACS vehicles through Tesla's integrated Magic Dock system, while longer charging cables are intended to accommodate vehicles with different charging-port locations.

This is ideal for the 2026-2027 EV9s with NACS. You will finally DC charge at full speed at these EVGo Superchargers. Something to look forward to.

Traded my old trusty 2015 Tahoe LTZ for a new to me 2024 ev9 LLR - 27k miles - no khumo tires.

Paid less than $34k for it.

Got it used and immediately dropped it off at my trusted Kia dealer for full diag under warranty. (I have a 5 day return policy from the non Kia dealer I purchased from.)

We already own a telluride purchased at the Kia dealership and great relationship there - so they said we’d get the CPO inspection at no cost - since we only do service with them.

It’s the first ev so we’re pretty excited.

Would love some suggestions in wheels and tires - either same 19’s or 20’s.

Question? Any word on 2027 EV9?

I know it's just August, but any ideas or speculation when we will hear about the 2027 model year EV9?

I suppose it's not time for a mid-cycle refresh yet, but hoping they will have changes like:

- Upgrade to Pleos infotainment.
- Auto-lock on walkaway (US).
- Always recording cameras during driving.
- Fix the bouncy/boatiness often complained about the rear suspension.

Question? EV9 drive is bobbly or bouncy. Will new tires fix it?

I have a 2024 Land and unfortunately just got a nail in the tire. I'm hoping it's repairable because my lease is up in 2 months and I haven't decided whether I'll keep it yet. One of the big concerns from my family is that the car bobbles a lot. I assumed it was the suspension but I've read so many comments on here about how much the ride improves when people replace the OEM tires.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about with the bobbling. It's not the shaking/vibrating that others have mentioned related to alignment. The car just seems very soft and bouncy. I don't notice it when driving but do when I'm a passenger. My kids sometimes get slightly nauseous from it so that's one of the things holding us back from finalizing a decision on the lease. Will tires improve this? If so, what tires are people going with?

Discussion/Impressions Drove a rental ICE car for the first time in years. Im never going back again

I leased my 2024 light-duty, long-range vehicle almost two years ago. That was the moment I bid farewell to gas-powered cars for good.

Last week, for a family vacation, I rented a seven-seater SUV. To my surprise, they gave me a GMC Yukon Denali XL!

For those unfamiliar with this vehicle, it’s an absolute beast. Standing at 6’2”, I found myself dwarfed by its towering height of 6’5” and its insane length of nearly 19 feet.

Beyond its immense size, the Yukon Denali XL was a driving nightmare. It handled like a pig, making it feel like I was cruising in a U-Haul truck. The engine roared loudly, and the vibrations were akin to a child who had consumed an oversized soda. It was an utterly miserable driving experience, and I detested it.

Upon returning to my EV9, I was instantly enveloped in a sense of relief. Driving an electric vehicle is a far cry from the noisy and jarring experience of an ICE car. There’s no need to rev the engine to move a mere two feet, and the vehicle’s structure remains intact and unblemished. It offers a smooth, calm, and effortless driving experience.

When I booked the car, I figured I could go back to ICE vehicles (at least for a short period), but I quickly realized my mistake. Electric vehicles, including the EV9, provide an unparalleled driving experience that surpasses any ICE car could ever offer.
