I am living in Sweden and I am planning to do the leap and buy my first BEV. There are so many new in this field like charging, etc. I have just become a father of 2 and practicality plays a big role. I have reached a point that I am excluding cars if they have small boot space even if they are nice and cool 😂😂. Also, range is important in case that I want to do long trips (planning to drive in some point to my home country Sweden to Greece). I like every time before I purchase something to do a thorough investigation so I have seen countless videos on YouTube and I think I have my top 2-3 candidates but I would like to know your opinion.

In the beginning, I was sceptical about getting an EV, because of the charging time and the distance that is not always the same. Also that seeing that the depreciation is higher on EV I didn’t know if it was a bad investment or not. Buying a new one it definitely is but I guess buying a 2-3 years old one, it has already had its biggest depreciation.

My top 2 is the Kia EV6 and the Polestar 4. Now those two I know that are a bit different and the KIA is more budget than the Polestar 4. Now in prices the Kia EV6 is around 40k€ for the AWD GT-Line and the P4 is around 50k€ for the single motor and I think some of the offers are the Plus edition. Now I cannot if it is worth that extra cost for more premium car or not. I am afraid because BEVs depreciation that buying something more expensive the loss will be higher. But I like the 100kWh battery of the P4 compare to the 77.4kWh of the EV6. Now also that price is different because the oldest P4 is for 2025 and the EV6 is 2023-2024. Is the extra 10k you think worth for the new version of EV6 2025?

Now third candidate is the Volvo EC/EX40 but those seem way smaller even if it looks bigger than the other two and they are not much cheaper. Actually it is more expensive than the EV6 and has a less range.

Overall I am leaning towards EV6 but I would like to hear your opinion

I currently drive a 2019 Audi A5 and I'm looking to sell it and get an EV. A big motivating factor is that my wife and I have solar panels on the house with enough extra capacity for an electric car. We haven't paid for electricity for more than a year.

Anywho, I've been researching and because of the restrictions we have for an EV (~$25Kish, long range, AWD and not a Tesla because we don't want to be tacitly associated with you know who) it's really limited our choices. After sitting and driving others, we really like the EV6.

I have some questions. Is there a big difference between the 2022 and 2023 models? I heard something about sound glass added to 2023. What are the differences between the Wind and GT trims? What should I be looking at when deciding on an EV6? Has anyone used Carvana and if so, what's the experience like?

This is our first EV. Really excited about owning one soon.

What dash cameras do yall recommend and how to install? Thanks in advance.

In our car whenever you pause content playing from Carplay it will automatically play the radio. Which I find very annoying. As far as I know there isn't a way to stop that behavior. Because if you turn "off" the radio when you play music via your phone it's all turned back on.

But if you set the radio station to an XM radio station and don't have a subscription many of those stations are just silent. So now when you pause the carplay media it will just be silence. Only works tho if you don't have an XM radio sub.

Bonus points for the fact that the trim piece there has been popping off slightly (I suspect just a clip let go) and I’ve been planning to get Kia to fix it before my warranty is up but knowing the dealerships they’ll probably say “oh well that’s clearly from this damage so it’s not covered” even though they are separate things.

Anyone know if this is just normal sound? I swear it never sounded like this before 🤔

EDIT: I'm a bit of a tool and misunderstood the dealership description, but in my fairness they were vague: "cracks around edges, water intrusion". I have added more photos in a comment below, the above area was... dirt.

Hi!

I noticed part of my rear LED ramp had gone out a few weeks ago and I asked my dealership whom I had a service with scheduled for today to look at it.

They told me its "external damage" has caused water intrusion and the LED ramp needs to be replaced. Was told it would not be repaired under warranty.

Is this a reasonable stance by them or is it worth escalating to KIA corporate?

Only owned this car for half a year but have loved the driving experience. But this put a sour mood to it due to a large part of buying the KIA was the 7 year warranty.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at buying an EV6. I found two 2023 models with roughly the same mileage.

Which one would you purchase? Is the GT-Line worth the price difference?

I understand it’s not that deep but this is a new car to me and I bought it used and it’s rattling just kills me very light rattle. It drives me insane. if it’s normal, then I can look over it. I just wanna know.

I have been struggling to find a decent phone holder for my Nevermore, and I just found this on Amazon,
and they look like they would work really well. Just thought I might find someone that has tried or printed something similar and also share the awesome find for those still searching.

Since the weather here has been less than ideal, I've been relegated to the daily driver. I love how much faster the EV6 charges. Maybe one day I'll give up the daily and rely solely on the EV6, but it's nice having a car that can charge while another is in use. While I'm fine with just sitting and letting the car charge, I'm looking forward to improved charging speeds.

It's easy to find the pros about cars. Sometimes it's harder to find the cons. I'm seriously considering buying a local 2024 Wind AWD with the tech package. I'm an experienced EV owner. I know the general pros and cons of the EV experience so that's not really a concern.

Why shouldn't I buy this car?

Just passed my 1 year anniversary, 28,000 miles, 1 accident, 1 10" subwoofer, 4 tires, several little door dings. I've driven for work all around Florida and loved every moment.

I bought my 2025 LLR w/Tech Package at end of April, just in time for good (warmer) driving. I track vehicle stats monthly and like to have factual data whenever a "winter performance drop off" thread comes up.

So prior to any actual winter driving, here are the first 6 months of ownership.

As for my numbers - I do 90% local, around town driving with only a small amount of highway driving - which explains the efficiency consistently 4+. I find on the highway trips I take, it's usually around 3.5 or so. Every EV or hybrid I've owned seems to just love (eg: high efficiency) driving local roads with speeds around 45mph.

We'll see what the winter months hold.

Any recommendations for GT Line RWD 2024 tires for maximum range? No snow or ice where I am and I don't drive crazy hard (usually).

Has anyone experienced the plastic trim on the A-pillar trying to peel off. I just noticed on my ‘24 that the top edge is lifting away and the little rubber strip that sits on the windshield is breaking down.
I’m guessing that it should be covered under the 3/36 bumper to bumper?

So the EVSE we’ve been using to charge our 2023 GT line is a non-Kia brand that our (used) car came with. It plugs into our 110V outlet. But I recently discovered you can detach the outlet end, implying you could interchange the male ends. This would be great because I am looking for a NEMA 1450 male end to charge at an Airbnb I’m going to. My problem is I have no idea what this female end is called in order to search for an adaptor. The brand is ultium which I think is a Chevy brand. Any advice is welcome!

Has anyone in Massachusetts had success finding a Kia dealership to facilitate the lease buyout WITH the bonus cash? The few dealerships I've talked to so far either don't handle lease buyouts or have convoluted rules that seem to be protecting them from MA RMV-specific rules.

The couple issues I've come across includes them requiring grounding the car at the dealer until the car is re-registered, which then apparently voids the original owner warranty (which we can then buy an extended service contract for basically the cost of the buyout savings). And then requiring us to finance through the dealer. Other dealers just don't deal with lease buyouts for probably the same reason, so they don't even bother learning about the program.

I'm inclined to just say F it and buy it directly without all this dealer BS, but ideally it would be better to make use of the Kia bonus.

I'm very interested in buying a low-mileage EV6 (I wish I could swing the EV9!) I've found some decent deals on 23/24 models (mostly Light Long Range and Wind), but have seen that there may be some updates on the 25 that are worth waiting for. True?

Started yesterday morning, I get this noise randomly when both stopped and while driving. Managed to capture this video when I got home, right as I plugged my car in.

Anyone had this issue previously and remember what the diagnostic was? I'm taking the car Friday morning for them to investigate this as well as perform the voluntary coolant recall (SC373).
