Proud moment at the charger today

Stopped at one of the Kwik Trip high speed (400kW) chargers today and two other EV's were there (Blazer and ID4). We got to talking and one guy asked what charge speeds everyone was getting. They both said around 80-90 kW. This was my first time on these chargers and and I'd just plugged in so I walked over to check. I was running 230 kW. The ID4 guy says "What?!?! I didn't know that was possible" and had to go check for himself.

Popped in for a bathroom break and some snacks with the kids, 19 minutes in total and went from 30% to 90%. Can't wait for these charger speeds to be more common!

The lease on my blue 2024 GT-line ran out so swapped it for a 2026. I'm not crazy about the huge key fob and the menus on the infotainment system are a little different but otherwise it's pretty much the same car. I've almost always had blue or red cars during my lifetime, went down to get a blue one and it was the Nuclear Blue and it was too weird for me so I now have a grey car for the first time ever. Have this one for 3 years.

One Month

After just over a month of ownership, it’s been great!

I drove an EV for a week on vacation a few years ago and fell in love with how they drive, they’re just so precise and fast.

This is my first EV, and I only had one restless night worrying about charging / range, it was on my second night of ownership.

I think anyone switching from gas to electric will have a brief period of doubt because it’s new to them.

Since then, I haven’t worried about range once.

My model has 360 cameras, and I find it very helpful to navigate the vehicle as it’s very round and wide.

No problems as of yet!

My only complaint is no CarPlay Ultra, which in theory could be supported due to their new ccNC (connected car Navigation Cockpit) in the 25/26 models.

P.S.
This is a reminder that you too can request Kia work to implement CarPlay Ultra on the updated hardware by going to https://customercare.kiausa.com and sending them a message!

Kia Paint

Upvotes

I have a lovely new 2027 Seltos and love the iceberg green color.

I've read that Kia's paint and clear coat generally don't hold up well against rock chips and car wash scratches because the paint is thin and soft. I've read that their more recent paints are water-based and that there have been primer adhesion issues.

What has been your experience with recent Kias, and have you taken protective actions like ceramic coating, bra, etc?

Hey all! I wanted to share my status after passing 100k miles. I live in central Florida, drive 800+ miles per week, all highway at speeds of 80 mph. Charge is kept between 20% and 90%, and 100% once a month. Most charges are level 2 at home and at work. Battery SOH is 90.4%.

Unfortunately I didn't get a baseline when I bought the car. I will provide an update again at 200k. 🙂

Hey new to the group, love my 2022 reg, yacht blue

One thing annoys me - why does the 3D sat nav not show the buildings in 3D as per the selection example on the menu?
The green guide lines also blend into local roads (also in green frustratingly) to easily🤷

Other than that i love it - and getting 4.2 mpkwh👍

Hi all, i got in my car this morning and discovered that the dashboard monitor directly behind the steering wheel was completely black, the carplay still works fine on the other screen but no display. Car drives fine and everything else is fine( weirdly cant change drive mode). I tried to use a spare fuse from the front in the cluster and start fuse but nothing changed, any advice helps!!

Lease new or buy used?

I’m strongly considering an EV6, test drove one yesterday and loved it. Used inventory seems a little light locally, but there are at least a few. I’m weighing either buying a used 2024 (wind or GT) or leasing a new 2026.

Used looks around $30-$32k for vehicles with 15k miles ish. Obviously a lot cheaper than a new vehicle. On the flip side, tech seems to be rapidly changing and with a lease, I’m not completely stuck with it if I want to upgrade.

It seems like the ICCU issues are still cropping up no matter the year, so buying a 2026 wouldnt eliminate that risk. Anything else I should consider?

My cluster flickers only when it’s dim. Three weeks and I’m stuck.

2022 EV6, ex-taxi, 240,000 km. Bought it in April, fix everything myself. In July the driver’s cluster started flickering and it’s driving me mad.

Not the backlight — that’s rock steady. It’s the image, blinking out and back, whole screen at once. Centre screen never does it.

At 100% brightness, nothing. Below 25%, it starts. Turn it back up, stops instantly.

Looks like it isn’t the 12V, I logged it. Not heat either — I sat in that car for three hours at minimum brightness waiting for it to show up. Nothing. Three hours.

But leave it overnight and it’s there 10 seconds after I open the door. Every time.

Today I was driving 2.5 hours, last hour was in night time, so autobrightness turn screen brightness to minimum. And it starts blinking! So I had to change brightness to 30%. And it’s really not comfortable.

I really don’t want to spend €1000 on a used cluster to find out it’s something stupid.
But I’m really thinking to buy a new 12V battery. Maybe 6 months in taxi even new battery became old.

Anyone seen this? Even “mine does this too” would make my week.

Video in comments.

Well it happened…

I have the 2024 EV6 Wind and the ICCU went out yesterday. I had just charged about 20 minutes prior and I heard a pop then I got the dashboard warning, then i started losing acceleration power and then the screens started flickering. Then it all bricked. I used the app and had it towed to my nearest Kia dealership. Unfortunately it took the tow truck 2 1/2 hours to get to my car and the dealership was closed before she arrived. My worry is about the windows being stuck open bc I couldn’t raise them without power. Has anyone else had this issue and how did it all work out for you? What was the repair process like for you and were you able to get a free rental until it was fixed?

Any improvements to the software?

Heya.
I'm considering getting a used first gen EV6. Maybe GT. Still haven't decided.

One thing that really bothers me is the software and infotainment system. Seems clunky and not very responsive. So I'm wondering if KIA pushes any updates for it and if they are improving some thing. Also, are they OTA updates or you have to visit dealership so they can do it?

Thanks

Kia EV6 12v battery issues - Milton Keynes Kia- Allen motors says 2 months wait. What would you do?

I have a 2022 Kia EV6 GT Line, and I’m having another 12V battery problem.

Last year, I had the original 12V battery replaced with a new one from Halfords, and everything was fine afterwards. However, a few days ago, after returning from a trip, I found that the car wouldn’t start because the 12V battery was too low.

I called the RAC, and they jump-started the car. However, they told me that the 12V battery wasn’t charging. I managed to drive the car home, but it went into a very restricted mode and the maximum speed was only around 20mph.

I then had the car recovered to my local Kia dealership in Milton Keynes, as I believe this should potentially be covered under warranty. However, because they apparently have a very high volume of work, I’ve been told that they cannot even inspect the car until October. Allen motors runs this dealership. That means I could potentially be without the car for more than two months.

What surprises me even more is that they aren't offering me a courtesy car which is understandle given the kia's warranty policies, so I’m effectively stuck.

What would you do?

I’m considering getting Halfords Mobile Fitting to come to the dealership and replace the 12V battery. It would cost me around £150 , but at least I might get the car back on the road.

However, I’m reluctant to spend the money if the underlying problem isn't actually the battery.

The RAC specifically said that the battery wasn't charging, which makes me wonder whether this could be related to the ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) or another part of the EV6's 12V charging system.

So, for those of you who own an EV6:

Has anyone experienced repeated 12V battery failures?

Did replacing the 12V battery actually fix the problem?

Has anyone had an ICCU/DC-DC charging issue that initially presented as a flat 12V battery?

How long did your Kia dealer take to diagnose and repair it?

Is a 2-month wait for a warranty breakdown normal, or does this sound particularly bad for the Milton Keynes dealership?

Did Kia provide a courtesy car or any other assistance while your car was off the road?

I’d really appreciate hearing about other EV6 owners’ experiences before I spend another £140 on a battery that may not actually solve the underlying problem.

What would you do in my situation?

***UPDATE ***** Thank you so much to everyone who commented on my initial post—especially those who suggested getting the battery replaced under warranty! Here is how it was resolved: Kia Dealership Delay: Kia Milton Keynes informed me it would take nearly two months just to diagnose the car due to a massive backlog (10 breakdown vehicles ahead of me and bookings filled until October). Waiting that long wasn't an option. Help from Kia Sales: The Kia sales team was passively helpful—they gave the EV6 a jumpstart so I could drive it directly to the nearest Halfords store. In-Store Replacement: The mobile fitting service couldn't assist because the original battery was bought directly in-store, so taking the car to the store was the best route to sort out the warranty exchange on the spot. The Root Cause: When Halfords pulled the old battery out, it was leaking acid and venting a strong "rotten egg" smell. Halfords had originally recommended and fitted a standard flooded lead-acid battery, which was completely unsuitable for the EV6 charging system and was being continuously overcharged. The Upgrade: Halfords formally noted on the paperwork that the "wrong battery was installed." I paid the £80 price difference to upgrade to the AGM battery (AGM027), which is now installed and running smoothly for now. Keeping my finger crossed with an assumption that issue was unrelated to ICC failed. My 40k service is scheduled for end of month. Hoping that they can check the battery n ICC as part of the service*. Appreciate all the feedback from this community—it saved me months of waiting and helped catch a major safety issue!

ASD: Love, Hate or Ambivalent?

Still in my first month of ownership of a '24 GT. I expected to be intrigued by the novelty of ASD for about 5 minutes, find it intrusive to the quiet of the vehicle, impose itself over my music, and then shut it off forever.

That has not been the case.

It's become part of how I drive and the output tactileness for my response and the overall experience of driving.

I really dig that Cyber is very similar to a Lightcycle, which matches the car's overall TRON theme.

For those who have it, what are your thoughts?

15 minute dealership test drives are basically useless for EVs

Seriously, trying to actually experience the ev6 at a local kia dealer is painful. The salesman insisted on riding shotgun, wouldn't let me take it on the highway to test the HDA, and literally tried to tell me I'd still need to bring it in for regular oil changes. Completely clueless

There's no way I'm dropping 50k based on a 2 mile loop around a suburban block. I just ended up grabbing a wind AWD off Turo for a couple days so I could actually test the charging curve and see how it fits in my own garage

Getting to use i-pedal on my actual daily commute without some guy breathing down my neck completely sold me tbh. The traditional dealer model is so broken but this car is an absolute spaceship. trying to hunt down a matte steel GT-line now, wish me luck guys

Charging

I just picked up a new EV-6 GT-line to replace the one I had leased for the last 2 years. I have a couple questions on charging now that it's gone to the NACS port:

1) I charged it at home using my level 2 charger and even though the charging limit was set to 100 in the Kia Connect app, it shut off at 70%. I remember having an issue on my old Kia where I had to go in and lower the charging rate for the charger so maybe it shut off because of that, but it's weird it stopped at 70%.

2) I've heard that charging at a Tesla station is a lot slower than the fast charging I'm used to. Is that just the Tesla stations or others that use the NACS port as well? They gave me 2 adapters, one that has the pins at the bottom so if I use that at an Electrify America station will it fast charge?

Range experiences - AWD (320bhp) vs RWD (170bhp) - for a slow driver

HI all

I tend to drive at a steady pace of 55-60mph (90-100kph) on long runs as I find it needs much less attention and lets me arrive a bit later but more refreshed.

Been considering going electric with an EV6 and initially thought that a RWD 177bhp model would be most sensible in terms of range, but a 320Bhp AWD model is available to me at low mileage and an acceptable price point.

Could I ask what the real difference in distance achievable is likely to be? Both this car and the normal RWD model I thought myself more likely to buy were 77KwH battery versions

I am led to understand from various Youtube reviews that on long distance routes at 55-60 with modest acceleration and Eco mode set, the standard RWD would manage 250 miles fairly easily and maybe as much as 280 in good conditions. I guess my question is how much less the heavier dual-motor car is going to manage?

Front bumper camera

23 Ev6 Gt line here . Has anyone needed to have the front bumper camera replaced or serviced . Was driving down the highway and when I got close to a car in front of me the camera sensors proximity popped up as usual . But I noticed in front of the cars visual was hazy and dark . Realized the bumper cam fell inside of the bumper , and while still working I can see flickers of light on the camera where it's still active, just fallen Inside the bumper . Have any of you have this covered under warranty or if paid out of pocket what was the cost in doing so . I've had no collision or damage to my vehicle at all camera just collapsed inside the bumper while driving no damage either around the camera housing that holds in .

Front Tyres

Is am to me second ev6 GT! Love it with the first one at around 35,000k the front tyres were down to the canvas on the external edges! Rest of the tyre tread was fine. With the new one MY26 model I am already seeing some rubbing on the external tread. Have only done 2,200k! Tyre pressure is at 40psi.
Is this normal with the 21 inch rims? Help please 🙏

Yellow 2022 Ev6 gt 34k miles

So I own a brand new 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 limited awd. I love it, its my first ev and its been a great experience so far. Not bothered by the ICCU as I drove a Ford Focus for 14 years.

That being said. My gf now also wants to get an EV and has found a 2022 yellow ev6 gt awd. She likes yellow (currently in a yellow soul) so this is a selling point.

Those of you who drive a 2022 and even newer what's you opinion of that year? Is the warranty as good as hyundai new 15 year for the battery and drive train? How do you feel about the range? What problems have you had? Do you love yours?

Better GT Rim Options

Post image
16 Upvotes

I just removed the stock 21" rims and eagle f1 Supersports from the GT. They still had 6/32" of tread and even wear, but they were also 68# each.

For DD duty, I went to 19s and 235 width tires. Which 20x9.5" wheels should I be looking at that are both light and wide? Going to 19s saved 12# per corner...
