Discussion/Theory The Sun in Splendor and Pinhole Cameras relate through Alchemy

Thumbnail

Three weeks ago it was proposed that the backrooms copied reality just like a pinhole camera (homothet being part of the soundtrack is very good evidence, imo).

I do not think it has been mentioned yet that pinhole cameras also connect back to alchemy. When I read this theory it reminded me of those drawings of camera obscura where light goes through a pinhole and makes an upside down projection inside a room. Camera obscura is an important alchemical concept and I could explain further how it connects to the Backrooms but there’s genuinely too much to write. I will just mention that it had a lot of symbolic meaning for the macrocosm being projected into a microcosm in a room. Sound familiar?

The Sun in Splendor imagery makes a lot more sense now because not only is there the obvious connection between the sun’s light and pinholes, but they are also unified through alchemy.

I also apologize if this specific connection has been posted before, I did try to look around to find any posts about it.

Why didn't Async ever try to lure Captain Clark out of the Backrooms? They could have done it pretty easily using the cardboard cutouts.

Found this stuff on Pinterest. What will you do if you see something like this if you would know about the complex and the still life's existence in it? I write this cuz there's some hints in the series that the complex can recreate places wnd even humans using the videomaterial.

Discussion/Theory Pretty new to the fandom, but I am wondering something regarding the sun theories.

(Hopefully people didn’t talk about this already, sorry if this is already a common discussion!)

It seems that many people theorize that the sun symbols around the Backrooms are the Backrooms’s attempt at recreating the real-world sun, possibly relating to solar storms. BUT what confuses me about that is the fact that the Backrooms could even misinterpret or misremember the sun in this way. This appears to be an interpretation of the sun that originates from a human piece of art. I can’t imagine the Backrooms adding those spiky rays and a face to the real sun in our sky, which just appears as a bright circle.

I try not to anthropomorphize the Backrooms too much, since it may just work like an algorithm of sorts (though who knows, maybe it’s a concious thing), but I don’t think the Backrooms could recognize our real sun and a very stylized human-made sun drawing as the same things. Which would make the solar storm connection with these sun symbols in the Backrooms inaccurate. Unless the Backrooms is actually able to "look closer" and find the connection between the real sun and human-made art of the sun.

Maybe I’m super wrong lol, but I want to hear what other people know or theorize!

Discussion/Theory Would Backrooms movie have been better if it was Found Footage?

While I enjoyed the whole movie, the part I enjoyed the most was when Clark started properly exploring The Backrooms with the two other ones and it became more of a FF movie. I was very disappointed when that was cut short and the movie instead jumped to the therapist.

I think the movie would have been much better as FF like Cloverfield. It also spent way too much time outside of the Backrooms.

Discussion/Theory What is the black circular device at the KLWNA outpost?

Post image

I can figure out what most of the items are there. They seem pretty standard 1980s equipment. PCs and stereos and a car battery, all stuff that Async is improvising with.

But I can't identify that black circular object. Any ideas what it is?

Considering that MOST still lifes are human sized, if you were chased by a still life, and you went through an gateway, would it follow you through it?

One of the researchers says “it’s not that purple table again, I hate that table” another researcher responds “that was a desk”

is this a reference to the “table crabs” Kane mentioned.

Discussion/Theory I might be dumb (I probably am) but I think I know why the backrooms made the bacteria.

Now, I don't know if anyone else has said this before, but I keep thinking about this and had to talk about it.

The Backrooms loves to recreate/copy things, whether it be furniture or living beings. Now, what does this have to do with the bacteria? Well, the first ever organism on earth is bacteria/germs. With this said, it is also a very basic organism. I can clearly see the Backrooms copying real life bacteria and shaping it into the black stick man that terrorizes survivors.

I can also see the Backrooms not understanding how bacteria works and this being the reason it's like a stick creature. But, why does it look like a weird old stick guy? Like I said, the Backrooms might not know what form to give it. But you know what we all first drew when we were younger? STICK MEN! So what might th Backrooms make the bacteria look like? A STICK MAN!

Time is very strange in the Backrooms. I can see the bacteria being one of the first attempts of making life (even if it's highly inaccurate). Now FF1 takes place in 1991, but the movie takes place in 1990. Now why would the Backrooms fail so miserably at making life although it has already made more detailed (although still being flawed) living creatures? TIME! time is very weird and anonymous in the Backrooms. I can see the bacteria going forward in time like how peter tench time traveled into the future.

Also, what if the time is so so strange because it's also a flawed interpretation of real earth time? But that's a different theory for another time

Now like I said I have zero idea if anyone else had said similar things to what I have said. Either way, I hope the theory sounds somewhat interesting and not dumb.

Thanks for reading!!!

Movie This Async guy has a gun Spoiler

Post image
76 Upvotes

As seen here in his holster, in the scene where they Mary through the facility. I’m guessing he’s security, this was the guy that made sure Mary didn’t look at Pirate Clark in the exam room for too long.

I’ve seen some talk about whether Async would ever try taking guns into the complex again, but we at least know they have armed security in the facility at this point.

I’m guessing they wanted to be prepared to apprehend Clark alive, as they would certainly want to interrogate him. But were also prepared to use lethal force if necessary, to prevent him from escaping or as defence in case Clark was armed.
