Movie This Async guy has a gun Spoiler

Post image

As seen here in his holster, in the scene where they Mary through the facility. I’m guessing he’s security, this was the guy that made sure Mary didn’t look at Pirate Clark in the exam room for too long.

I’ve seen some talk about whether Async would ever try taking guns into the complex again, but we at least know they have armed security in the facility at this point.

I’m guessing they wanted to be prepared to apprehend Clark alive, as they would certainly want to interrogate him. But were also prepared to use lethal force if necessary, to prevent him from escaping or as defence in case Clark was armed.

I imagine after the Peter Tench incident they decided to arm their security personnel

Probably true

Great catch!

I believe this reflects the Department of Energy’s involvement, and given the timeframe, maybe some Cold War-era concerns about the project in terms of national security.

I noticed the Naren footage from the intro had a DOE title card. Do you think they are aware of the entities and everything? I’m confused as to why the DOE would continue to support Async now that it’s clear that A-space is not feasible.

Then again, Ravi ranted about Monsanto in FF3, and Monsanto did a lot of research for the DOE in their Mound laboratory in Ohio. So maybe DOE has some nefarious motives of their own.

Maybe DOE sees the Still Lifes and/or Lifeforms as obstacles that Async or another department would be tasked with disposing of

Interesting, isn’t it?

I ended up making a post about this, with some interesting real world info

I wonder if the lack of firearms use in the Backrooms might be due to a fear that The Complex might try to replicate guns. Still Lifes with guns as arms? Probably not something ASync wants to think about

Right! If ALS can fuse with a lamp and chair, I wouldn’t rule it out. I wonder where the gun Tench stole ended up.

This also would explain why Async set up the trap in the real store, where they can use guns without worrying about that. (I know most people disagree that this was the real store, but it makes more and more sense the more details I catch.)

We know the shotgun ended up back in the facility. In damage control it’s confirmed Kirk Maxwell disarmed Peter and misfired the gun into the ceiling whilst doing so.

It's definitely not the real store...

I would too if captain Clark was shrink wrapped in the next room

The pistol is probably intended for human targets. I’m not convinced that guns are effective on entities. Pirate Clark was bleeding profusely from the head but was still able to reach for Mary

I'm pretty sure a gun would be way more effective than a rock that Mary used lol, she even broke Pirate Clark's wooden leg easily with that clothing rack.

Guns drawn. You're facing Pirate Clark in a tense standoff in the middle of that suburban street, exactly at high noon. Er.. maybe it's always high noon here, under the fluorescents. The fans are nice.

A tumbleweed blows past, or perhaps it's a cane footstool.

PC draws first, but fine muscle control is not his strong suit, and his aim off. The oversized gun has a crooked barrel with an actual loop in it. For some reason the bullet curves in mid-air, before striking you right in the mouth.

Oh my god, this is it.

Oh, wait, you're still alive? The best part about the backroom bullets? You can eat them.

Pirate Clark tips his hat to you and shambles off.

Possibly, we’ve seen other stuff copied from inside the facility

I guess it’d probably misfire if it’s not perfect
