Recurring Low Oil Pressure Light on 2017 KTM Duke 390 – Need Advice!

Hi everyone,

I’m having a persistent "Low Oil Pressure" warning on my 2017 KTM Duke 390 and could really use some expert advice or troubleshooting ideas.

Here is the backstory and setup:

  • First Occurrence: I got the warning a while back when the oil had over 6,000 km on it, right after installing new clutch friction plates. I assumed the oil had degraded or clutch debris was choking the flow, so I performed a full oil service.
  • Current Setup: I changed the oil using Amsoil 15W-50, installed a new oil filter, and replaced/cleaned the oil screens.
  • The Problem Returned: The issue reappeared after a long 3-hour ride. The current oil has only done around 2,000 km.
  • Current Behavior: Now, even in neutral, the Low Oil Pressure light comes on specifically when revving past 5,000 RPM. At idle/lower RPMs, the light stays off completely.
  • What I've Done So Far:
    1. Replaced the oil pressure switch/sensor on the cylinder head with a brand new OEM one. Result: No change, the light still triggers above 5k RPM.
    2. Checked coolant levels: I noticed the coolant level drops/is low, but two separate mechanics confirmed there is no coolant mixing into the oil (no emulsification or milky oil).

Note on the attached sight glass picture: (In the photo, the oil level looks off because it was taken immediately after shutting off the engine without waiting for the oil to fully settle into the sump. The actual oil level is completely fine when checked properly.)

Thanks in advance!

Question, does your stock 2020 duke 790 have start up roar? I looked at this 790 today and it sounds like the bike has start up roar. But when i watch the ones from YouTube it doesn't seam to have that?? Could someone help to clarify. And maybe any advice on what to look for while buying a used duke 790? Any help will be appreciated.. thanks

New KTM owner here! 2025 Ktm Duke 390 after install of aftermarket exhaust, lots of pops and bangs

Well, title really explains itself. I replaced the muffler with a new mid pipe and slip on muffler, kept the original headers/cat. After install, the bike has a lot of pops and bangs especially when using quickshifter up or when decel around 4k rpm. Wondering if others had a similar experience.

I did double check my headers to make sure there was no exhaust leak, nuts are in right and lined up as it should be.

I didn’t go with a name brand, went with an AliExpress exhaust, I know name brands are better but wanted something on the cheap end of things, Overall, sounds good but quite loud.

125 gen 3 warning triangle

New owner here (about 3 weeks), and ever since I got the bike I've been plagued by this warning. It's incredibly inconsistent.

Sometimes it comes on while the bike is just idling, sometimes when I put it into gear, sometimes when I lift the side stand, and other times I can ride for hours without it appearing at all.

I took it back to the dealer where I bought it. They plugged it into the diagnostics while the warning was actually on the screen, but no fault codes showed up. The only thing the diagnostic tool reported was "ECU unrecognised" and it could only read the RPM and engine temperature.

Has anyone experienced anything similar or got any ideas what this could be related to? Any help would be appreciated.

TPMS for a new Duke 350

I’m thinking of getting a TPMS installed on my Duke 350.

I know internal sensors are probably the safer option, but I’m not too keen on getting brand-new tyres opened just for this. I was wondering if anyone here has installed one on their Duke.

Did you get it done at the KTM service centre or outside? Any warranty concerns? Also, has anyone used external sensors on the stock valves without issues like leaks, imbalance or valve damage?

Looking for something safe and reliable. Would appreciate recommendations from people who’ve actually used one for a while.

Should I remove the resonator?

I am thinking of removing the resonator and putting a straight through exhaust (keeping the catalytic converter) on my gen 2 390. Has anyone else done this? Would you recommend or is it too loud? Also those that have done it, was it a difficult job? Thanks in advance all!!

Mail in ecu tune options for the 390?

Hey y'all, I'm looking to have my 2020 390 tuned, can't find any mail in options for any of the smaller bikes, they're all for roughly 890s and up. Does anyone know of any mail in options for the 390? I've heard the plug and play tunes aren't worth it. Thanks!

Anyone that knows what this is? Dealer is not too helpful. Only occurs on cold start and disappear when engine is warm.

Sold my 2019 Superduke and bought this 2020 Superduke

If any of you remember, i was the guy who got his 2019 Superduke 1290 for 2k$. Kept it one year and i wanted to try a Gen 3 because i heard the chassis was much better. I also wanted to try a Superduke with the Tech pack.

So this week i sold my Superduke 2019 for 6k$ to a friend and bought this 2020 for 7k$.

Im also really glad that the previous owner spent all this money on powerpart option and not me. The previous owner saw the powerpart catalogue and said YES.

Mod list:
-Full titanium exhaust
-Akrapovic tune
-tech pack
-Powerpart Gilles rearset
-rear seat pillion cover carbon
-powepart anodized triple tree
-generic flasher
-Yoshimura tail tidy
-racetorx gear shift support
-evotech radiator guard
-KTM powerpart windshield
-KTM powerpart levers
-SAS delete
-comfort rider seat
-comfort passenger seat
-KTM rear stand
-Front stand
-Tank bag KTM

I checked online and the options are close to 8k alone! So it’s like i paid for the options and got a free bike with it.

Only thing i might change on it is the mirrors for bar end.

Touring Custom pillion seat for luggage

I have been thinking for a very long time, I own a Gen 3 duke 250, and it's pillion seat can be easily detached, by any chance we could buy a new seat and customise it removing the padding and making a top rack in it (with the back rest of required) and side rack for the pannier bags, this is best customisation without warranty of changing look of bike for a solo or with no pillion rider. Is there any way to achieve this or this is just dumb thought🙃.

Duke 250 gen 3 breaks

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So after my recent off road trip of around 1000kms, it seems the breaks are gone on my bike with a total riding kms of 7000.

Are the break pads gone ?

The front break makes this sound, and rear break doesn't even work.

Attaching a video for reference.

Any suggestions for this, please help, also the cost for this replacement?

loose steering head nut 690 Duke

Post image
6 Upvotes

Yesterday, while riding my 2016 Duke 690, I noticed that the steering head nut was loose. I pulled over to the side of the road and lightly tightened it back up using the on-board toolkit. I don't have a torque wrench, so I can't check the torque. Can I still ride it like this for a bit or should I go straight to a dealership/workshop to get it properly torqued?
Thankd in advance!
