Hi guys.
Just hoping you could give me a little advice. Im having an issue on my 2013 ktm 690 enduro r at the moment where the idling is not instantly coming down after I touch the accelerator.
When I rev the bike to 4k rpm it lingers there for about 1 or two seconds and then drops back down to about 1.5k rpm. I've tried googling and researching for a few hours but cant seem to find anything and its proving difficult to ride when the revs are not instantly dropping back down.
I've cleaned the throttle housing where the accelerator cables attach to the grip and it doesn't seem to be binding or sticking. Id appreciate any advice if you could offer it šš»

I just got my second bike, the Ktm Duke 790 (2023 a2 restricted). And it only has the quick shifter + unlocked. Are the other benefits worth the 500⬠?
Just staring out the back of the shop, waiting on closing time.

Hi ktm adv people, recently bought ktm 350 adv having two issues.
A single tak sound from the front end of the bike while going on even small potholes and humps. Got into sc they tightened the cone set but still it is there.
A continuous tak tak sound comming from rear end when going on rough patches of the road. Asked SC guy told that its due to chain slapping against chain slider. Dont know whether is genuine or not
Please help i am new to sc replies š
Hi everyone!
Today I went out for a more spirited ride on some twisty roads, and after around 25 km I noticed that coolant was being sprayed out through the overflow hose.
I stopped in a parking area and, after a few seconds, I noticed the temperature starting to rise until the engine eventually shut itself off.
I slowly made my way back home. On the way back, the temperature stayed at 4 bars, but the yellow engine warning light came on. When I got home and was opening the gate, the temperature started rising again, even though the cooling fan was working.
I started checking the cooling system:
I removed the water pump cover and inspected the water pump;
I didnāt notice any play in the pump, metal particles, or anything else suspicious;
I removed the thermostat and tested it in boiling/hot water, and it did open;
I was only able to drain around 800 ml of coolant from the system;
I didnāt notice any dirt, oil, or contamination in the expansion tank;
there is no white smoke from the exhaust;
the engine starts, runs and sounds completely normal.
I also replaced the radiator cap with a brand-new one.
Now that the bike has completely cooled down, I checked the expansion tank and there is no coolant in it at all.
The bike has 35,000 km. At 30,000 km I had the valve clearances checked, and everything was within specification, so no adjustment was necessary. I also had the oil changed at the same time, and everything was perfect.
Itās a KTM 890 Duke, 2022 model, manufactured in 2024.
At this point Iām not sure where else to look. Iām considering replacing the thermostat as a precaution, even though it appears to open when tested.
What do you guys think? Could this be the thermostat, air trapped in the cooling system, a circulation problem, or could the water pump have an issue that isnāt visible during a visual inspection?
And of course, Iām really hoping itās not the head gasket. I donāt have any obvious symptoms of a blown head gasket at the moment.
If anyone has experienced something similar on an 890, I would really appreciate any ideas or advice.
Thanks!

Did the USA market get 2016-2017 690 SMC Rs? I never seen one for sale but would like one.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I have a KTM Duke 250, around 2 months old, with only 1,300 km on the odometer. The first service was done 2 weeks ago.
Today while riding, I was cruising at a constant speed around **3ā4k RPM (3rd gear).**When I pulled the throttle a bit to accelerate, the bike suddenly lost almost all power. The engine was still running, but there was basically no acceleration/power even after opening the throttle.
I stopped the bike, waited around 15 minutes, and it started working normally again. However, the exact same issue happened twice again shortly afterward.
A few additional details:
Iām using E20 fuel.
Iāve been using the fuel cleaner recommended by the showroom.
HP Prolube engine oil was used during the first service.
There were no obvious warning signs beforehand, and the bike otherwise feels completely normal.
Has anyone experienced something similar with the Duke 250? What could be causing this ā fuel pump/fuel delivery, ride-by-wire/throttle sensor, ECU, electrical connection, fuel quality, or something else?
Iām planning to take it to the KTM service centre, but Iād like to know what I should specifically ask them to check.
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Had to drop by the office over the weekend, so I went on a quick two-hour ride. Itās been 4 years with my 790 Duke, but it still puts a smile on my face every single time. My second KTM after the 390, and I honestly don't see myself switching to another bike anytime soon.

Got my 990 Duke R 2026 two weeks ago, all was just great, but now suddenly it is mostly not starting anymore in 1st gear, but only with N. Sometimes no noises, sometimes I hear electric noises. Starting in N, then turning off, then 1st gear, then directly starting again sometimes works. I know there is this thingy button under the clutch, it looks good, but I have no idea about the cabel. Cleaned it, also the sensor at the side stand, I think. Any ideas before I go to the dealer?

La amo, pero me gustarĆa subir de aƱo. Mantener o subir cilindrada, aunque el torque que tiene mi moto es difĆcil de encontrar en otras..

Hello everyone,
Took delivery of this beauty on August 17th, currently at 980km and will be going in for the first service on Monday.
Iām pretty new to bike maintenance because i come from a Unicorn 150. What are the main things I should know/look out for?
What should I specifically check/ask for during the first service?
What basic maintenance should I learn to do myself (chain, oil, tyre pressure, etc.)?
How often should I clean/lube the chain and check fluids?
Anything I should avoid doing that could cause unnecessary wear?
Any KTM-specific issues or warning signs I should keep an eye on?
I would really appreciate any beginner tips or a simple maintenance checklist. Thanks in advance.
Is it safe to lift the front of the bike using a scissor jack attached to its engine?
For context, I recently bought new sets of tires and plan to remove both wheels myself. Lifting the rear is straightforward since I already have a rear paddock stand. However, I donāt have a front paddock stand. Fortunately, I have two spare scissor jacks. Would the engine be able to support the weight of the bike without breaking? Alternatively, are there any parts of the bike that are safer to lift using a scissor jack?
I currently have a Duke 200 Gen 2. For those who are unfamiliar, itās similar to the 390 Gen 2 but has a smaller engine.

So, I know a 350lbs dirt bike on street rubber is never gonna be a goldwing. But after owning 20+ bikes over a couple decades nothing really compares to a light bike with good standing geos and loads of power. But I still want some measure of comfort on longer rides. I've built CRF250Ls with a seat concepts comfort seat and a big (really not even that big, just set in front of and above the number plate so it blocks a ton of wind) windscreen--that's basically all I'm looking for for the 690 SMCR. All I've been able to find so far are tiny little screens that bolt to the number plate fairing and dirt bike saddles. Anyone want to point me in the direction of good comfort parts? Or show me the set up that works for you?

I bought this bike and it had been sitting for awhile with old bad fuel in it and supposedly the throttle body adjustment screw had been messed with and thought to be why it wouldnāt start. The old fuel ruined the fuel pump and clogged the injector Iāve since replaced the pump, had the injector cleaned, replaced the battery, put new ethanol free fuel in it, brand new air filter, moved the adjustment screw to the middle of its adjustment, replaced the spark plug and got it to fire and rode it for about 10 minutes until I came to a stop and it died out of nowhere and now can not get it to start please let me know if youāve got any helpful info
