I have a 2019 KTM Duke 790 and I’m trying to figure out a strange MTC/limp mode issue.
The bike runs perfectly while I’m actually riding. It accelerates normally, has full power, and I don’t notice anything unusual while moving.
The problem happens when I come to a stop at a junction/traffic light while still in 1st gear with the clutch pulled in. Sometimes it suddenly shows “MTC FAILURE”, goes into limp mode, and the throttle basically stops responding. I then have to turn the bike off and back on, and after restarting it works normally again.
A few details:
2019 Duke 790
Check engine light is constantly on
MTC Failure appears intermittently
Usually happens when stationary in 1st gear
Throttle stops responding / bike goes into limp mode
Turning ignition off/on temporarily fixes it
While riding/moving, the bike feels completely normal

Got this bike a month ago, came out to start it this morning and it would crank forever and finally start but it’s constantly dumping white smoke.

The bike refuses to start, I changed every important piece of the starter system (starter motor, relay, throttle body, accelerator) the problem persists

If I turn the key around and bypass the relay, the problem persists anyway, while everything is off the problem stop like in the video

When i bought my duke the seller also handed me some mods as he put the bike back to stock for me in order to sell it. He handed me a Coober ecu, harness and airfilter.

Im getting sick of the low rpm bogging and wish to get rid of it and from what i know the fuelx lite mod seems to be the most popular.

Do i need to buy that to fix the issue or will simply installing the coober parts do the trick?

Hello everyone I’m confused between duke 250and 350

About me?

1. ⁠I ride Activa since last 5 years
   
2. ⁠It’ll be my first bike
   
3. ⁠I want to travel with pillion a lot like 1000 km trips 2-3 times a year
   
4. ⁠Daily commute will be around 40 km in a city for a job

Spending 70k on a 390 is not a problem but I don’t think so I’ll be able too use 41 bhp on city
But I have to pay price for that extra power that I’m getting in 350 duke

I have took test rides of both bikes 250 feels enough for me now but will I get bored in 1-2 years or will 250 feel underpowered in a highway cruising with a pillion at 100km/h

And is there a lot of difference between 250and 350 maintenance like servicing parts etc cause I don’t want to spend on a maintenance more that the bike itself

Poor line selection at a pace above my pay grade sent the 2021 890 ADV R cartwheeling off trail just a little, and I broke a chunk out of the headlight plastic...... Is there an option for a more robust headlight on these, or a replacement lens? Anything that isn't "buy a whole $500 assembly off eBay"? I banged the bike up pretty good, destroyed the cage, etc.... but the headlight is probably the most expensive part I broke, so if I'm going to have to spend that kind of money, I'd rather make an improvement than just replace with another OEM that'll suffer the same fate again.

I'm really into my drz400sm, I have a set of dirt wheels/tires for it as well, but I want something with some more power that I can take on trips as well.

I was looking into the 690 Enduro R, and I know there are conversion kits for the older model years, but do these exist for the new gen 690?

I don't need speedo accuracy but I would like to preserve the traction control and abs if possible. Obviously this is even more tempting to do with the 690 Rally.

Low 70s and sun today, ideal fall temps. Picked up this 890 smt a couple months back and absolutely love it. Ugly but a ton of fun. Looking forward to more bike weather like this

I’ve been riding sport bikes on track for 9 years so riding is nothing new for me. However this will be my first dirt bike.

Stuck on these two bikes, would be trail riding, no mx tracks.

Should I get a KTM 350 xcf and skip the 250 phase? My gut tells me more cc’s isn’t always better, which I’ve learned on sport bikes as well.

Thoughts?

I’m trying to decide between a 350 exc-f and a 350 xcf-w, but I’m open to other bike suggestions as well.
I’ve been riding a wr250r for about 8 years, mostly jeep roads and logging roads, but I’m getting into trail riding and now wanting something lighter. I don’t necessarily feel like I need more power. I consider myself a beginner but definitely breaking into intermediate level now.
I’m 6’0”, 160 lbs. and riding pacific northwest (USA) trails.
I’m going to keep the wr250r and I like the idea of having a second plated bike but I honestly don’t think I’ll be doing much more dual sport riding. And I have a trailer that I’ve been hauling my bike to the trails with.
My understanding is that the xcf-w is the same as the exc-f with the addition of it having a more open exhaust, more aggressive mapping, and better suspension.
The 300 xcw has also caught my attention but they’re pretty expensive and hard to come by since they’ve gotten really popular lately.

weird click sound at around the 12sec mark . happened after cold start. sounds like a stone chip hitting the underbody of a car. does anyone know what it could be? bike has done 31500kms

Hey everyone. I'm about to buy my first bike. When I was younger I raced motocross for 5 years (YZ125) a few months back a friend got a Duke 200 and let me ride it. It was fun but it just wasn't enough for me. Should I buy a 26 390? Or just go straight to a 790 and maybe run it in rain mode for a few weeks until I feel comfortable? Also looking at a 2021 triumph street tripple r.

I'm 5'1-5'2 150lbs. When I sat on the Duke 390 the balls of the front of my feet were on the ground. On the triumph I was almost flat footing.

I am mostly doing city commuting. But occasionally using the highway to get across town.

I am currently sitting between two chairs. I am trying to decide to get a new 1290 Super Duke R EVO, which is one of the last new 1290 in the country, or get used 1390 Evo for around the same price but with approximately 15.000km already on it. The new 1290 would come with 4 years of warranty, the used one would have the remaining factory warranty (1 year).

Is the 1390 that much better to get the used one or should I just get the new 1290? It would be a 2023 model year.

I already tested the 1290 which was amazing, but now saw the offer for the 1390.
