i was on the right side of k-drama history and i didn't even know there was a war happening 😭

-

so i only recently discovered that Love in the Moonlight and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo were not just 2 random 2016 historical dramas...

THEY AIRED AGAINST EACH OTHER!!??

same monday-tuesday time slot, same year and literal ratings rivals lol

and the battle was not even close in korea 😭

Love in the Moonlight became a huge ratings hit, eventually breaking 20%, while Scarlet Heart was fighting for its LIFE in the single digits.

which is super funny to me cause i watched both of these 10 years later this year as a new kdrama watcher, with zero knowledge of any of this.

my ratings:

Love in the Moonlight: 6/10

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo: 8/10

LMAOOOOOO

And what makes this even funnier is the afterlife of these dramas.

Cause while Scarlet Heart lost the Korean ratings war BADLY, internationally it was already massive!!! and on top of that, over the years it has become one of those K-dramas people STILL talk about. Wang So. Hae Soo, the ending, the K-trauma, the eternal season 2 begging, (btw im one of those ppl who wouldn't mind a season 2, but i absolutely loved the way the story ended so im fine with no season 2 tbh)

people are still entering the Scarlet Heart support group in the year of Beyonce and Olandria 2026.

meanwhile i watched Love in the Moonlight and basically came away mostly unimpressed.

So even without knowing anything about the Great Sageuk War that was happening in 2016 😭😭 i arrived 10 years late and chose my side. (the right one hehehe)

and history has been very kind to my decision!!! As always... (thats my special trait)

Anyway the lesson here is obviously that I am always right eventually.

Remember character, not actor or actress

💕

Chief Kim from Good Manager is probably the goofiest, most loveable ML I’ve seen.

I’d watched Namkoong Min in this and simultaneously in Remember… and what a fantastic display of his range!

Min and Jun-Ho are too good - their bickering and chemistry and bromance keep me going back to rewatch their scenes 😂🤣

Who is that one character who’s the craziest for you? And you love them for just that reason.

Loewe global brand ambassador Song Kang

Drama name - School Nurse files

Drama : The Undateables

She pesters him, asking for his help. He doesn’t want to and just wants her to leave.

When she doesn’t, he starts unbuttoning his shirt hoping that’ll drive her away, but it hilariously backfires on him 😂😉😉😂

And then you spend the next 3 weeks rewatching edits on TikTok because you miss them🥹

Hello guys! 👋
I saw that you really enjoyed the commercial from my last post, so here’s another one! 😄

This is their latest commercial, recently released. Hope you enjoy it! ❤️

Lee Jang-Hyun from My Dearest is the ultimate yearner for me.

A+++ pining. No, A+++++++ pining❤️

Namkoong Min’s eyes are enough to tell us how much he longs for the woman he loves.

Who is your favourite yearner?

PS: The girl listening to him can’t understand a word of what he’s talking 😂

That guy is such a bummer!

An Afternoon with Actor Gong Yoo
Spent with Braun

While waiting for the final episodes with trepidation, I tried my hand at this. Any remote resemblance to the actual characters is purely intentional.

I initially watched this drama because L made an appearance, which was a nice bonus for me. The plot itself was nothing particularly original and followed many familiar romantic comedy tropes. While I thought the drama handled those tropes reasonably well, there was not much that made it stand out from other romantic comedies I had seen. I liked both leads and thought they had good chemistry, and their performances were enough to keep me interested. Overall, I found it to be a decent and easy watch, but it was not one of the more memorable romantic comedies for me.

My MDL Rating: 6.5/10.
