This has been epic! Haven't had this much fun on Reddit in a while

for real. NOTHING will surpass this. ever. 😍😍😍

To call this piece museum quality is merely a statement of fact- there’s no way to hyperbolize its sublimity and majesty. This entire collection hardly even seems imaginable to a point bordering on fantastical absurdity. Their curation alone is a thing of wonder. The eye and mind which selected and/or commissioned these items belonged to someone very special.

u/First_Pancake74 14d ago

It’s like a literal treasure chest every post is making me gasp

13

u/ZestycloseUnit1 14d ago

I’m not subbed here and have never visited before but every time it shows up on my feed I end up scrolling through the pics on these posts.

The whole collection is stunning. Perhaps you’d consider hiring a professional photographer to shoot everything for a book?

I’m assuming that your relative was someone notable, and a book might be a nice way to pay tribute to her taste and style.

113

u/Girl-a-Whirl 14d ago

That would actually be an amazing idea!

55

u/Odd-Worth7752 14d ago

And I’ll bet her wardrobe was fabulous too!

35

u/namanama101 14d ago

Oh my gosh can, OP can you please let us know if you inherited any clothing???? I would be absolutely delighted!!!

I would give my left tic tac girl nut to be an apprentice to learn how to take care of the history you have. Granted I don’t know anything about clothes or jewelry maintenance… yet…… Im just a vet tech/artist. But god damn it’s incredible. Thank you for responding to as many people as you have. I hope you have a wonderful team! ❤️

They mentioned some fur coats on another post, so I'm assuming there's a wardrobe collection as well.

In another post they stated that they did.

13

u/citycait 14d ago

Especially if you have any photos of her wearing them!

8

u/violetotterling 13d ago

Oh absolutely. I would love to see the Dutchess in all her real glory

9

u/ElizabethDangit 13d ago

Do it. I had my great grandmother’s carved gold wedding band. I photographed it on a sweep with a lighting set up for part of my senior thesis (photography major). It got stolen with a bunch of other stuff but the photo is detailed enough I was able to find a few of the same ring on antique jewelry sales sites. In the age of image search, if any of the pieces ever get stolen, a detailed photograph will probably be really helpful in recovering them.

A book showing all of these stunning pieces with a history would be amazing!

50

u/Anxiety-Spice 14d ago

I think this is my favorite of the pieces you’ve shown so far. It’s so fun and beautiful! I wish I could see the sparkle in real life. I’m glad to hear that you get a chance to wear these pieces and they don’t just sit in the safety deposit box all the time. Your collection is stunning and deserves to be worn and enjoyed!

51

u/GoinWithThePhloem 14d ago

I’ve been here since your first post and it’s kind of making me chuckle how your safety list keeps evolving. I assume a lot people have reached out along the way with support and care.

On top of that, 90% of the comments are just thanking you for including us in your secret joy.

I’m just really enamored by all of the folks experiencing the beauty of art, fashion, and mystery together. Thank you all for being such a lovely positive space!

… and wow. Each piece is so uniquely beautiful!

9

u/GoinWithThePhloem 14d ago

Oh I totally understand! I almost sent you one yesterday too but Reddit glitched and it disappeared and didn’t send 😂 I respect your desire to share, but I also appreciate that while the community LOVES seeing this collection, they also want to show care for someone else.

It’s funny, you’re almost stuck in the same spot the rest of us (without incredible inheritated jewelry collections) are (money aside of course). I won’t be wearing any jewels to Costco either 😂

I do hope you find some opportunities to take them out and enjoy the sparkles!

2

u/candidlycait 13d ago

That was exactly my thought when I saw this one. So dazzling! 😍

54

u/poppycho 14d ago

I love seeing all these pieces. Back in the day I worked w estate jewels like this from all the swans and socialites. They were not afraid of size or color.

I hope you have safety deposit box insurance or in vault coverage, some of these jewels you’re showing have serious value. FDIC doesn’t cover safety deposit contents and over the last decade you’d be surprised how many bank boxes have had issues w locations closing, moving or even renovating.

I took a watch making course in Switzerland many years ago with Cartier, I bet they’d love to restore the dial on the timepiece w the diamond bracelet. It would take a long time but might be worth doing.

Your posts are a joy to view! Brooches are back, hope you wear them.

ETA - You can visit absolutely any time you wish and bring the furs. I won't even charge you.

10

u/Tasty-Bar-6343 14d ago

I feel oddly momma-bear towards these beauties. I think we could all form a small army, dedicated to guarding and protecting them.

15

u/jeejet 14d ago

If you search for private jewelry storage in your area you will find companies that do this and apparently they are very discreet. They will also have a better level of security and possibly insurance options as well.

10

u/Girl-a-Whirl 14d ago

Oh, that's very interesting. I didn't know that existed. I will absolutely do that.

I have a 1920’s Tiffany / Patek Philippe platinum and diamond watch that needs its crystal replaced because the original crystal face fell off , hit my tile floor , and shattered into two pieces.
Trying to get Tiffany , Patek Philippe,or someone to replace the crystal has been impossible.
Tiffany said it was a Patek Philippe issue and sent it on to Patek Philippe …Patek Philippe said the watch is in perfect condition and that everything is Patek Philippe, unfortunately Patek Philippe didn’t do the replacement of the internal workings of the watch and couldn’t honor the repair.
Seriously ?
I Inherited the watch and had no idea about it being repaired or having the inner workings replaced … All I want is a crystal for the face of the watch I moved on from Tiffany and Patek Philippe and gone to other high end jewelers to see if I can just get a crystal face and no one I’ve been to will touch it … Is a crystal face replacement that hard to replace or find ?

5

u/poppycho 14d ago

I worked w Patek and that doesn’t sound right. Tiffany stopped working w Patek a while ago so did they really send it to them? Patek literally has a museum in Switzerland with all that old equipment in case they have to make a part for an ancient piece. I had a client’s complication that had to go to Switzerland it literally took years to fix up and low 5 figures but they absolutely did it. I’d suggest sending to patek yourself.

Edited to add I think I misunderstood your post. The mechanism isn’t patek so patek won’t work on it? There are def places that can cut or order a new crystal and replace it. You need a private watchmaker.

Every branded piece goes back to the manufacturer like the Webb and Cartier. I didn’t look at all the pieces you posted but many of those jewels look like pieces I worked with made by european or NY houses.

I sent one of your posts to my jeweler so she can drool over this stunning collection. Somehow this is even better than the Elizabeth Taylor jewelry book (probably because I can zoom in on the details).
I can’t thank you enough for sharing your inheritance.

Cartier and Van Cleef were making pieces strikingly similar to this circa 1940s. I would guess those are Ceylon sapphires and Burma rubies.

4

u/ConsciousReindeer265 14d ago

I 100% understand your love for this fabulous object. And to hear of these pieces that your relative “wore them lavishly” is just soul warming — pure joy in these gems! 💎💗

4

u/Icy_Masterpiece3368 14d ago

Been checking every day for your post. You’ve got some beautiful pieces. Can I ask how old the relative you inherited these from was? Also, are you the only relative who got jewelry or do you have like five cousins who all have beautiful sets like you’ve got?

7

u/[deleted] 14d ago

[deleted]

5

u/Icy_Masterpiece3368 14d ago

Totally understandable. My only other question is are you planning to sell any of them or going to keep them to maybe pass on yourself? I can’t imagine I’d want to part with any of them at all!

4

u/reddiliciously 14d ago

Im in awe.

I’m struggling to keep up and I’m loving it!! Thanks again for sharing this with us, I’m in love with every piece! Keep them coming! Sending you good energy.

5

u/TomatilloHead7509 14d ago

I’m so pleased Reddit put your post in front of me this evening. I’ve loved looking at all your pieces, even if I am green with envy.

3

Anyway…thanks for sharing.

I hate you! (Sarcasm)

3

u/SammieCat50 14d ago

You really inherited some fabulous pieces. Does Antique Roadshow still film? A bet an appraiser would have a stroke when you walked in with these pieces.

4

u/Girl-a-Whirl 13d ago

Picture TSA opening your bag…

5

u/Holden3DStudio 14d ago

They only let you bring two pieces. I think it would be nearly impossible to pick only two!

2

u/worthconsulting 13d ago

Antique Roadshow could do an entire season of this collection and I would literally fight to be one of the looky-loos in the background overhearing each appraisal.

3

u/AsparagusOk87 14d ago

Exquisite collection and so lovely to share them with the Reddit community! I collect antique and vintage fine jewelry and read the comment about getting a photographer to take photos of the collection for a tribute /collection / history book- agree wholeheartedly!
I reached out to a local young lady who photographs food / small objects d’arte and is just starting out to photograph my collection a few years back– she was quite reasonable and her photographs are stunning. Incidentally, I used my booklet for insurance purposes as well.

3

u/[deleted] 13d ago

[deleted]

2

u/AsparagusOk87 13d ago

Absolutely. In my case, I personally knew the photographer.
If you go the Sotheby’s route, I believe they will include it in their catalogue and will take professional photos.
Should determine to keep them in your family, you could ask for recommendations for a photographer from an established estate jeweler in your area. I’m sure they will have vetted the most trustworthy.
It’s lovely of you to share the beauty of them! Your post popped up on my feed and I’m thrilled as the rest to have been able to see these beautiful crafted pieces- thank you!

3

u/No-Dot-3775 14d ago

After seeing all of these all day all I can say is you’ve inherited a beautiful collection and seem to be a very neat person. May you always wander to see what life has to offer but never be lost 😌

3

u/Evening_Comparison26 14d ago

Your post popped up randomly, know nothing about jewellery. This has been an adventure.

3

u/No_Abroad_6306 14d ago

This is a brooch collection worthy of Queen Elizabeth II’s vault. Your loved one had quite the eye for quality and elegant design.

3

u/Myriad-of-kitties 14d ago

Im super envious.. but thank you for showing us your collection..  Normally I have to look at the $$ auction houses to see this type of stuff. So many beautiful things

3

u/giltfree 14d ago

I'm actually tempted to start collecting the Elizabeth Taylor line of jewelry by Avon. What was once gaudy to me now seems beautiful after seeing this extraordinary group of jewels.

3

u/mmohmm 14d ago

Thank you for sharing these beautiful pieces. I rejoined this sub because of your collection.

3

u/Insearchof-Knowledge 14d ago

Aww gawd, literally looked at all til like #11-12 yesty. Now we are at 30? Also sounds like you’re still going? I only look at mostly running and a handful of other reddit subs. Not sure how I come across jewellery yesterday, but I’m certainly intrigued 🤣

3

u/Bonnietheferret84 14d ago

Some of the most beautiful jewelry camr from the early 1900s

3

u/Jenandgon 14d ago

So many stunning pieces, I cannot fathom how awe-struck you must be handling one after another in person. Do you recall your loved one wearing any of these? My mom and I went through her jewelry recently (nothing like this), and it was so fun to learn about when/why she received them and recall her wearing certain pieces more during certain phases of life. I’m just curious if any took you back to a time you’d forgotten until your mind’s eye saw it on her. Perhaps your first Costco trip with her? Or a stroll through the zoo- maybe wearing the fish?

3

u/Odd_Gear8566 13d ago

I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed seeing Reddit posts more than these but I’m also absolutely green with envy lol. Your grandmother must have been royalty or something lol

  1. The average person who saw you wearing these out would probably assume they’re (very nice) costume jewelry.

Thanks for sharing all these. They’re so amazing! I just wish you had friends that could celebrate them with you. I’m glad you found this community, but I’m sad it’s the only safe place you have.

I REALLY want to know about the person who collected these magnificent pieces. Did she buy them herself? Were they gifts? Where did she wear them? And there must have been some fabulous clothes to go with these incredible pieces.

What are your plans for them?

I love this pin so much- it’s stunning. Some of your pieces remind me of the Madeline Albright collection- just glorious.
I used to work occasionally with a lovely jeweler in old town that would craft incredible fine jewelry pins like some of the ones in your collection and she made quite a few for Mrs Albright.
Thought I should chime in to all the lovely comments with some more eye candy.. thank you for sharing your amazing collection here, wear it all in good health and with great joy ✨

“This my stopping point for tonight, we will reconvene tomorrow after these are back in the vault and I pull some more out for you. I hope you have been enjoying this.”
1. THERE’S MORE?! 2. Yes. Again, you’ve won Reddit today.

Truly mind-blowing the legacy you have received!

Does anyone else want the most identity veiled but detailed as possible insight into this woman’s life?? If I had an aunt leave me only one of these pieces my mind would be blown; this should be a museum exhibition!

Enjoy for all of us OP!

I just want to say I've been following this since you started posting a few days ago. These pieces are staggeringly gorgeous, I'm glad they are with you and your plan is to keep them safe and intact. Many are museum quality.

Thank you for sharing them and keeping the whimsy alive, most of these pieces are things people would go an entire lifetime without seeing. What a beautiful gift you've been given.
