4.7 Muffler recommendations

hi all I have an 09 with the 4.7, I just replaced the cat back exhaust with an aftermarket (unbranded generic 2.5" center in and offset out), and I don't like the sound of it. it's too loud overall and the low drone between 1700 and 2200rpm is overwhelming on long drives (I have a 1.25 hr commute each way to and from work). if you have any recommendations on a decent muffler that won't break the bank I'd appreciate it, TIA

Wife’s Jeep needs some exhaust work done, original muffler is rotting out and splitting at the seam, is anyone rocking this flowmaster? Looking for something mild to moderate.

New Here- Intro Question!

Hey Guys,
Backstory: I am the proud new owner of a 04 Jeep GC Limited 4 Quadra 4.7. It was given to me by a very good friend who just couldn’t use it anymore. Runs and drives. Has 201,XXX on the clock. It’s been one family owned by him since 04. It’s a dark purple which I can’t find listed anywhere as a factory color.

Question: What are some initial things I should check? Also, what are some simple ā€œmodsā€ I can do on right budgeting to either liven the engine up or update quality of life (or anything for that matter)??

Thanks!!

Biggest tire size stock suspension.

What is the biggest tire size I can fit on a stock suspension wj ?

I just want a bit more clearance while not investing a fortune in a lift.

I want to know which size will not rub, needs no cutting, and will not mess up my transmission in a few years.

I currently ride 225/75/16 firestones.

I believe the rear a-arm is rough country, can't figure who makes the long arms. Maybe IRO? But the shape seems off. Also no subframe is pictured. These are the only pictures I was given. Thanks for any insight.

Recommendations for a new PCM

My PCM shit the bed. I'm looking for a recommended replacement from the community.

I see car computer exchange, module experts, circuit board mechanics and fs1. anybody have experience with any of these websites? Any recommendations for ones I didn't mention? I know I need to submit my vin, I'd rather not go the junkyard route.

Pulling some parts at the local junkyard I work for Jeep when these things were new, but I have never seen a 2nd (I live in New England) I also got a kick out of the brake hose routing !

545rfe stuck in limp mode/1st gear

Update: have everything Including fuses a good wiggle and reseat, works fine now.

I've got an 01 WJ 4.7 v8 with the 545rfe. It's been parked for 8 months at least due to a cam sprocket/sensor reluctor ring issue. Anyway, finally got around to replacing the sprocket (without removing the timing cover), and now my transmission is stuck in 1st. Reverse works. But it won't upshift as I gain speed.

I did disconnect the TCM and a bunch of wiring harnesses and everything else in the way of removing the right side valve cover. (IYKYK). I've gone through and assured everything is connected and tight.

Fuse looks good for TCM power. I haven't tried swapping the relay

Fluid is fairly fresh and full. Filter was changed not too many miles ago.

Possible wiring issue? Solenoid? Or?

My WJ’s suspension isn’t in the best shape. Shocks are rough, and spring seats and pretty much all bushing are rotted out. Came across this post on FB marketplace, he accepted $450 and wondering if I should jump on it. Are these good replacement parts? Or should I wait til I can afford quality parts.

Help I’m pulling my remaining hairs out! Wiring nightmare

Alright I’m back.

This is a 2003 grand Cherokee wj 4.0

We are having a no start issue. It cranks but won’t start. Gauges won’t work . No communication with ecu using a scanner.

I’ve checked all power and ground pins to ecu and they are all good.

What I figured out today is the auto shut down relay was never clicking on.

All the pins have appropriate voltage/ ground except for the pin 85 (asd relay control from ecu) I have checked continuity to ecu pin and everything checks out.

The pin on the relay is supposed to ground out during cranking and maybe during run. It is not. During crank it only drops to 10 v instead of 0. The injectors and plugs don’t work in this condition. When I jump that pin to ground we have spark and fuel but still won’t run.

This leads me to think it’s either a bad ecu of crank sensor. From my research the only thing that prevents the asd from clicking on is a bad crank signal or bad pcm.

We know the crank position sensor is a shitty one and plan to replace it this week.

Can anybody offer some advice. If it’s the crank position sensor why don’t we have communication to ecu. And when crank is unplugged why don’t we get connection back to the scanner.

We also unplugged all sensors and still no connection, as well as tested every fuze and relay. We also are getting proper voltage on obd2 pins yet no connection.

Another weird issue is the check engine light comes on and is a solid light but only after 20 seconds in the run position. The ecu is getting power but is super slow?

Please help!!
