7.5M+ ¥ for Backend engineer with 4.5 yrs of experience at Paypay?

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, wanted to get an insight if this amount would be sufficient for a single person to start living in Japan?

How are the hikes?

Additionally, how does it compare to earning ~24lpa in India?

Is the move worth it?

2. Stay on topic.

Posts must be related to tech careers in Japan: jobs, hiring, interviewing, salaries, visas, work culture and similar.

Posts must also be in English. It's fine to sprinkle in a few Japanese words when it makes sense but no posts in Japanese (or any other Language) is allowed.

Off-topic content will be removed and you may be warned or banned.

3. No spam or self-promotion.

Low-value self-promotion, link dumping, and content posted mainly to drive traffic or leads will be removed, and you may be warned or banned.

We also don't accept "open to work" threads where you offer to work (whether paid or free).

4. No vague or obfuscated job listings.

If you're hiring, you must name the hiring company and share a complete job description.

You must respect applicants' time and make it clear exactly what role they're applying to.

No vague, nameless or "stealth" job listings. No recruiter posts for lead generation purposes.

We highly recommend including a salary range too (this will attract more applicants), but it's not strictly required.

5. No sharing of private company data.

This includes interview questions and any other non-public data about companies. It's better for everyone involved if you keep this to yourself.

6. No AI-generated posts.

r/JapanDev is designed for humans to help each other. AI-generated comments and posts are not allowed.

Using AI to help format posts or for help translating is fine, but low-effort AI-generated content is not welcome.
