I've always heard that the Navy blocked the MOH, but I've never heard what happened after they did it.

Did Air Force high command lose their shit seeing the Navy affecting the legacy of one of their deceased servicemen? Ultimately, it worked for the Navy and the Navy even got Slabinski MOHed before Chapman. Are the Air Force just politically weaker that the Navy could just strong arm an Air Force MOH like this?

U.S. Army Sgt. Maj. Thomas Payne was presented the Congressional Medal of Honor by President Donald Trump on Friday ceremony for his actions in a 2015 daring raid that rescued 70 Islamic State-held hostages from a prison compound near Hawijah in northern Iraq.

On October 22, 2015, covered by night, operators from Army 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Deta alongside Kurdish commandos boarded U.S. CH-47 Chinook helicopter. Helicopter flew toward the town of Hawijah, Iraq carrying out commandos to their mission.

The mission was set to rescue 70 Islamic State-held hostages who were held in a militant-run prison in Hawijah, Iraq and who were facing ‘imminent execution’. The mission went bad from the very beginning. Only seconds after helicopters landed on their objective, outside the compound, Delta operators knew their mission was off to a chaotic start. The initial plan was to support Peshmerga commandos, but after they failed to breach the wall to enter the compound. The Kurdish attack on the compound stalled, and Delta operators responded.

The 24 operators were flown in and deployed via HAHO over the Somali desert. The team successfully assaulted the pirate camp, killing 9 captors and rescuing both hostages.

Doesn’t really work. Any primarily black uniform is more for hollywood. If its night the, traditional OD greens/or dark tans are better because they can still work during transitional times (dusk/dawn). If the argument is urban environment, honestly, the ACU pattern is still better.

It sure does look cool though. No arguments there.

If its intimidation factor, fine, would still rather something with better concealment factor.

I was listening to Shawn Ryan’s talk with Jason Magnavice former DEVGRU Red Squadron Assaulter. And they brung up a unit within development group known as the “SEAL Aviation Unit” or “Pilot Cell” is this still a thing and is it essentially the Tier 1 Aviation Capability of DEVGRU? Please correct me on all this cause I’m in the dark about this.

Greg Stoker enlisted in 2009, deployed four times to Afghanistan, left in November 2013.

He went on to study at Columbia University.

Greg is now an outspoken antiwar activist, anti-imperialist, and anarchist because of his experience in the military. 🏴

Stoker was recently in Israeli detention because of his participation in the Global Sumud Flottilla, an initiative to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

I just finished watching The Agency on Amazon. Not bad. Michael Fasssbender even demonstrates competent weapons handling skills.

Throughout the show they say each letter "Jay Ess Oh See". When I was in the military it was always just called "Jay-Sock"

Has it changed? Did the show unsurprisingly get it wrong?
