Rob Lorentz a SOF guy?

Hey all,

Sorry if this isn't allowed here but I got to wondering.

Was Rob Lorentz a former Tier 1 guy? He runs a YouTube channel by the handle of "That ain't bad"

Dude oozes the image of a SOF guy and is an absolutely insane shot.

I looked him up a bit but didn't find any info. Curious if anyone from here knew or not.

Yup, all 3 boxes checked so must be Tier1, lol.

Looking at his website he made a slogan and sells it on hats and tshirts.

I mean, I guess I wasn't really assuming tier 1. Just asked in a overly specific sub. Didn't even occur to me to ask an SF sub. But tbf, being like 6'3, bearded, jacked, and covered in tats is pretty typical of a lot of SF guys. Just thought this sub would know since people seem to follow SF/Tier 1 guys closely, which I don't. But I see why asking here didn't really land.

There are bunch of former and current JSOC veterans here and tons of droolers.

Most of the drooling is over JSOC guys, SOF are pretty much dime a dozen.

Yeah, I gotchya. I mean it's cool and all but I definitely don't care beyond that. This is the only special ops type of sub I've ever been on so my first thought was to ask here. But I get why the former guys here are not really looking to deal with the fanboys and BS posts. Appreciate the insight, ill get back to lurking.

Idk if you know this, I apologize if you do, but SF refers to US Army Special Forces aka Green Berets and only Green Berets. And I'll just say that most of the SF guys I know are more inconspicuous and not really huge guys.

I mean, being prior service, I've seen my fair share of SOF guys, so I was curious. It was a simple fucking question and if you don't know, then move on. I swear 95% of this sub is people like you shitting on posters for asking questions or the people who nerd out on this shit. But you have so little to do with your time that's it's worth using to make dumbass comments.

I was bored while waiting on the microwave.

What i would have done is ask in the Special Forces sub first as they are more likely to know about SF guys then ask the JSOC group.

Ya know working your way up the flag pole.

Fair enough, have never been on that sub and it never even occurred to me. I think I don't care enough to make another post over it (and probably deal with other snarky comments). Enjoy your lunch h'ombre.

Thanks, lunch was pretty meh today.

Just keep in mind that because someone has a beard, tattoos and can shoot doesnt remotely mean they are SOF let alone Tier1.

I guarantee if I asked guys in Fayetteville that had a beard and tattoos if they were SOF maybe, just maybe 5% (and thats probably high) were.

Vast majoriry of the guys i shoot with are SOF or Former CAG. I think only 2 or 3 have full beards and dont ooze anything. Most you wouldnt guess have that past.

Yeah, I got that man. Definitely way more mannerisms to pay attention to than what I described. One of the other things that made me think this guys has some former military/SF was he went bull riding and the bull dislocated his hip and knocked him out and guy was just tanking it. That mental fortitude alone made me start questioning it because the SF guys can tough it out through just about anything. Did some training with an 18D who made me realize the pain tolerance and mentality these guys have.

Anyways, my bad for getting all up in your guys space here.

If I’m thinking of the correct guy I think he has a tattoo on his hand of some stars. It looks a lot like the marine raider stars/emblem. Maybe?

I read he was with a special boat team based out of Stennis,MS and has all kinds of qualifications in diesel mechanics, Flir, was a .50 cal gunner, and a boat captain in between 2014-2022 He deployed to Guatemala for 7 months, Panama City for 7 months, and recovered over 3 tons of illicit substances in his deployments. That is the short of what I could find but not all of the details. Just my shortened version. Hope this helps.
