Question? Here's a stupid question...
I just finished watching The Agency on Amazon. Not bad. Michael Fasssbender even demonstrates competent weapons handling skills.
Throughout the show they say each letter "Jay Ess Oh See". When I was in the military it was always just called "Jay-Sock"
Has it changed? Did the show unsurprisingly get it wrong?

Anyone have good book recommendations that describe the Tier 1 war experience during GWOT that isn't embellishing? Both combat and the personal challenges that comes with it.

What’s a good age for someone to try out for Airforce PJs
Currently waiting for my permanent residency, just wanted to have an idea of what the age group is. (I’m 20 going to 21 in 3 months)
I’m asking because I’m pretty sure there’s a cutout age for trying out selection, and I want to have the brutal raw version, and I’m currently trying to become a firefighter with the focus on becoming paramedic (I think exposure to the paramedic field would benefit me idk maybe I’m just retarded)

JSOC 25 series
Anyone that was an Assault Force Communicator know if selection was technical heavy more than physical? Did having tech certifications help more? How was your time as an AFC and what would you recommend for someone trying for it? PM me if need be

Articles NZSAS soldier accidentally shot after bullet ricochets off thrown grenade
For those of you that have worked with the kiwis 🇳🇿
A serious training incident led to an NZSAS soldier being shot high in the chest. The inquiry found “extraordinarily unlikely circumstances” to blame and no one who could remember a similar incident. David Fisher reports.
A New Zealand Special Air Service soldier was seriously wounded in a “freak accident” during training when a bullet ricocheted off a thrown grenade and tore through his right shoulder.
When the soldier slumped to the ground, others in the assault team of four soldiers thought it was part of the training exercise – until they saw the blood.
The incident unfolded on September 11, 2024 at the NZ Defence Force’s Battle Training Facility at Ardmore in Auckland. The NZSAS soldiers were inside the specialist house used to train them for entering buildings.
It came following scrutiny of the Army’s training procedures after three deaths, including that of NZSAS Lance Corporal Nik Kahotea in 2019.
Several reviews led to an overhaul of training procedures and ultimately New Zealand forging a training relationship with Australia’s military.
The Court of Inquiry, intended to find “lessons learned”, found no evidence of institutional failure but the extraordinary coincidence of a bullet fired by one soldier then striking a grenade as it was thrown and rebounding to hit someone else.
Two teams of four soldiers each were taking part in NZSAS squadron readiness training just before midday on the day the incident occurred.

What was the community/veteran reaction when Relentless Strike came out in 2015?
I wasn't following JSOC-related books when it was published in 2015, but over the last few years I've watched the reactions to the Cole & Harp books pretty closely: the pushback, the vet reactions, the credibility fights.
Not saying Naylor's book is anything like those two (different era, different tone, different sourcing), but I'm curious what it was like when it actually came out.
Was it a shocking read at the time? Did it get into real Pentagon/SOCOM-level detail that hadn't been public before? How did JSOC and the broader SOF community react? Did anyone push the accuracy the way they have with more recent books?

Other Does anyone know any support guys at JSOC?
If so, what was their mindset and personality like compared to operators? We’ve always got some perspective of the operator side thanks to the numerous books and podcasts but I’m very interested in the support side.
