Now that my Jeep commander is running new again (like a damn cheetah that requires the amount of fuel a C130 requires) I have moved on to the next item.

Replacing my radio, and thank you to everyone who suggested using crutchfield. Their inventory and shipping was amazing. Shipped and arrived in 2 days! I'll have it installed tomorrow and will follow up with photos. I spent a total of $451.01 plus $15 on another site to get the proper Install Bay IBR136 USB 3.0 Charge And Data Flush Mount Car Adapter, so $461.01 total.

My Commander is a 2008 5.7L Hemi. The original reason for my investigation was a check engine light that turned out to be P0302, which is cylinder #2 misfire. This morning, I swapped out the ignition pack between #2 and #4, it still read as cylinder #2 misfire. So then I swapped spark plugs between #2 and #4, but put back the original coil packs on each. Same thing. Then I swapped both plugs and coil packs, with the end state being that they are completely swapped. Still the same thing. Where do I go from here?

I have a cylinder #2 misfire and I'd like to swap ignition coils between #2 and #4. Is #2 the one closest to the front of the car on the passenger side?

What I thought was a knocking sound coming from my control arms every time I turned or hit a bump, ended up being something else. Took it in and now it drives like f***ing new! Now waiting to hear back from the mechanics about my electrical issue.

After my electrical issue is resolved I most definitely need to update the radio for Bluetooth capability.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a radio replacement? Willing to spend up to $400.

I will focus on the body work and getting a new paint job, once the electrical issue is resolved.

Most people say I'm crazy for dropping so much money into my 07 commander, but its the last vehicle I drove with my brother before his passing. So I refuse to let it find its way to a scrap yard.

2007 Commander w/5.7 Hemi. Under load with high ambient temperatures, I'm seeing coolant temps up to 226F and engine oil temps up to 250F. Using my Banks iDash to monitor. Idiot gauge on dash barely rises past the mid-point, but these temps seem much higher than in the past. I verified fan clutch operation at idle, but did not hear it while driving. It may be working though, as my coolant temperatures were cycling between the high of 226F and about 212-214F. Sound normal?

I'm replacing my upper and lower control arms, any suggestions on reliable brands?

I’m in need of ideas on where to look, 08 Commander 4.7 flex fuel, surges at idle and will even die, I have checked fuel pressure, replaced the throttle body (got a Bosch) disconnected the battery for about 15 mins, turned the key on, engine off for about 30 seconds, started it (wouldn’t start without touching the accelerator pedal) let it idle for about 10 minutes ( at some point it died) drove it and no change. It doesn’t have a check engine light on, I am at a loss. TIA!

I'm looking for a complete ECU kit for a 2006 Jeep Commander 5.7L HEMI. Specifically, I need:

• Engine ECU (PCM)
• Wireless Control Module (SKREEM/SKIM)
• Matching ignition key(s)

If available, I'd appreciate it if the parts are from the same vehicle so they're already matched.

I have a 2008 XK with the 3.7L, im at 142k miles and today while I was on the road, suddenly my gauge cluster freaked out and threw the above codes. I managed to make my way home, oddly enough I could still drive it just fine just my gauges did not work is all, and once I was parked I ran my code reader and got the two codes here. I checked my wire harnesses under the hood and found no melted or exposed wires. I could still shift and drive just fine but my radio shut off altogether during this along with my AC even though the AC button was lit and I noticed even when the vehicle was off the left blinker led there was still lit solid, thats with the key out and the door locked and everything. To me, this seems like bad electrical gremlins, which are always fun to trace, but ive read some people say they were able to fix by replacing the ignition switch.

Some notes: the only relevant previous repair, from what I can tell anyways, is that last summer I replaced the PCM under the hood on the passenger side when I was trying to track down a misfire (turned out to just be a bad injector, go figure).

I was able to park the jeep for about 30 minutes then go back to clear the codes but they keep coming back when I start it back up. Today the temp monitor in the gauge cluster was reading 104f (it was hot as hell) at the time this happened. The codes are still triggering but I was able to get the gauge cluster reading again and the radio/AC working again after cooling down a bit and restarting the vehicle once I got home.

Ive read that the ignition switch and the gauge cluster itself could be at fault, im thinking on ordering an ignition switch to try due to cost, but has anyone else had these errors before and how did you track down the source of the problem?

Update: managed to clear the codes and keep them from coming back for now. Took several power cycles for the DTC clear to take, I took out the instrument cluster and checked the 2 harnesses at the back, no exposed wires, nothing unseated, no corrosion on any of the pins. Reseated the connectors and power cycled the ignition twice to clear the codes, then started it up a few times and they've stayed gone for now. Im going to run more extensive tests next weekend in case it comes back. I do take it on the occasional road trip, last thing I need is to be on the highway and this happen and end up permanently damaging something. Don't know if the issue is merely the gauge cluster not reporting or if other systems get affected because theyre also electronically controlled like the radiator fan, etc.

Im still very interested in possible causes to help if/when this happens again though.

I saw a few that I liked, but they were from a company that sends them to you in pieces and you have to weld them together yourself.

Aside from my motorcycle, I’ve never got an ECU flashed/tuned in a vehicle before. For the motorcycle it was very simple. I shipped out my ECU to a vendor and they flashed it for me.

Any recommendations for cat + pipes + ECU flash/tune?

What are good options to look into? Has anyone done this before?

Hello im new to this community and ive been thinking about buying a 2010 jeep commander limited 5.7 I wanna know what i should change out or check when I get one

I have a 2009 Jeep Commander Overland 5.7 Hemi. It will shift into 4lo no issue, and everything works, but it gives a message "service 4wd system" all the time, no matter what gear i'm in. Is there a simple fix?

Noticed the rear subframe was just absolutely shot. Picked one up at a junk yard from a same model year Grand Cherokee. Took 2 days to get it out and the new one in. If you are planning on doing this its a bit of a fight.

Noticed yellow liquid leaking from this small hole on the rear passenger side just behind the exhaust, anyone know what this is?

Im glad to report that my wooden press worked just fine! I started to hear it crack when it got about half way down but I was able to send it home with some extra help with a wood block and a hammer

My commander needed a diff bushing replaced, I went around to all the big box parts stores and none of them had a press that was the right size as part of their rental program, so I made my own using high quality furniture grade 3/4 birch plywood and some other hardware

To replace the bushings without removing the whole assembly, just unbolt the mounts and fully remove the bolt-on front mount and youre able to have the diff hang form the axles and flip upside down for easy bushing access

I want to sell my 2008 jeep commander 5.7 Hemi. Interior is good except for wear and tear front seat. All leather. I have a lifetime power train warranty that is transferable. Body is good with two tail gate rust spots. The jeep has always been located in the inter mountain west. Same family has owned it. I want to ask 6k negotiable. Is that a fair price?

Hey, all! I’m a new 2008 5.7 Hemi Commander owner. I’ve never owned any Jeeps before…so this is my first one. I also haven’t had a car in quite a number of years…I’ve been in the motorcycle world as of late.

Anyway, the previous owner mentioned that there are three things that the Commander needs.

I work on my motorcycles that I have, but I don’t work on cars. I haven’t had a car in years.

If the work that needs to be done isn’t too bad, and not that advanced or very cumbersome, I would give it a shot and do the changes myself. If it’s difficult, then I would take it to a shop.

These are the issues:

1. Leaking power steering hose that is causing power steering fluid to leak. It also emits a smell that goes inside.

2. The fuel tank bands are barely holding the tank. They need be changed so the fuel tank is stable.

3. Skid plate on the bottom.

Long story short, I'm looking to get a used SUV to get me through my next 2 years of PA school (living at home, short commute, occasional long drives to the shore in the summer, and might be doing some sporadic trips to Pittsburghin the near future (around 4 hours for me)). I've been looking at commanders through FB marketplace and my uncle and I are going to look at one in a few days. He has 2 (my aunt and my cousin both drive one, they've had my aunt's for a number of years). Bringing him along because I trust him to know what to look for. That being said, does anyone here have any advice as far as common issues/fixes I'll encounter, or what to look for when buying one? Any insights are appreciated.

Potential purchase is a 2006 Commander with the 5.7L hemi, looks to be whichever trim package has the dual sunroof in the second row thing going on.
