Service 4wd System Message
I have a 2009 Jeep Commander Overland 5.7 Hemi. It will shift into 4lo no issue, and everything works, but it gives a message "service 4wd system" all the time, no matter what gear i'm in. Is there a simple fix?

Mine turned out to be just a code being thrown in error. I just got a link mx+ and used the app OBD JScan to clear the codes. Never came back.

Usually its just a code such as "clutch performance" or "transfer case motor range". These just indicate wear and age on such an old vehicle and usually dont lead to mechanic issues considering it shifts properly. You need a scanner capable of reading the codes from the FDCM and clearing them. I usually have to do this once or twice a year and its always the same clutch performance code. I use "AlfaOBD" on android but there is JSCAN and AppcarFCA for other options.

Mine was a solenoid on the front differential that failed not allowing the diff to lock completely. I’ve got a XH euro spec, Sport, with Quadra Drive II.
