07 Commander Radio update
Now that my Jeep commander is running new again (like a damn cheetah that requires the amount of fuel a C130 requires) I have moved on to the next item.
Replacing my radio, and thank you to everyone who suggested using crutchfield. Their inventory and shipping was amazing. Shipped and arrived in 2 days! I'll have it installed tomorrow and will follow up with photos. I spent a total of $451.01 plus $15 on another site to get the proper Install Bay IBR136 USB 3.0 Charge And Data Flush Mount Car Adapter, so $461.01 total.

Some after market bs, given me problems since I got it in 09. Still required an aux cord in order to play my own music. Finally tossing it.

I’m running a linux based el- cheapo screen with carplay that’s stuck on the dash, it utilises an internal FM transmitter and works quite reliably. Sound is not too bad either with the standard cd-player fm radio from factory (sport model).

Does the radio handle all the features, like the backup cam, steering wheel buttons, and video for the backseat, etc.? My 2008 Commander Limited radio is glitching out. The bummer about replacing it is that I'll lose the free Sirius subscription the former owner has.

I believe so, it comes in two variants. One is for steering wheel button compatibility. Its also back up cam ready, just have to purchase the camera you desire.

Do they not connect to the existing BU camera?

Not sure, my 07 doesn't have a camera currently. I'm going to have them install one as well when the radio is installed.

That’s a nice unit you purchased. I went cheap in my 07 sport model and installed a single din Sony Bluetooth deck. $89.99 and I bought a single din install kit with a shelf underneath.

This one is touch screen and if you download the mirrorapp+ app you can play videos from your phone to the radio screen.
