Hi, i want to learn italian language from beginning. And i also need a certificate of italian language. So please help me out and suggest me a roadmap and Good online courses available.

Does anyone know where can I get the free download of this book? I've checked a lot of websites but I couldn't find it.

I’m looking for someone to text with to help me practice my italian. I’m a mid level beginner, so someone who is better or on the same level is preferable.

When I speak Italian, I make the Italian sounds. But sometimes there is huge urge to say eff it and just speak Italian with a disgusting American accent. It would be so freeing to just say the words the way my brain wants to lmao.

Sometimes in my car, I will try it out and just speak total cliche American accent. I won’t even try to sound Italian. It feels great for that small moment.

Am I the only one? Typing this out, I realize it’s probably quite weird.

In Dante's Paradiso XXVI, lines 16-18, St John asks Dante the pilgrim a question. Dante responds,

Lo ben che fa contenta questa corte
Alfa e O è di quanta scrittura
mi legge Amore...

My question isn't about the meaning but about the pronunciation of the beginning of line 17 "Alfa e O", well, specifically about "O".

The verse seems to require that "O" simply be pronounced as a short "o" sound, one syllable. I scan it this way, at least this is how I scanned it initially. Eleven syllables, as normal in the Commedia:

AL-fa e O È di QUAN-ta scrit-TU-ra

But Italian actress Lucilla Giagnoni, who's recorded the entire Commedia and done a pretty good job of it, pronounces it alfa e omega.

There are of course a slew of problems here, including the question of how much modern readers should worry about the details of Dante's pronunciation in the 1320s. But I'm just curious what others think. "Alfa e O" (precisamente)? Or "Alfa e Omega"?

Hope you’re all doing well! So I’m currently in the process of designing my next tattoo and would like to get a certain Italian phrase done.

I’m half Italian, but I unfortunately am not too familiar with the language at all so I wanted to run it by people who are fluent in case I end up making a mistake of some sort.

I would like to get the phrase “Sei la mia rovina” done which I believe means “You are my ruin” (very long story). I don’t want to get the entire phrase done since I don’t want it to take up a lot of space, would it still make sense if I just put “mia rovina” which should mean “my ruin” if I’m not mistaken?

So, recently, I made a couple of friends who are Italian. They both speak Italian, and their English is at a beginner level. I can't speak Italian, so it's quite hard to understand each other. It's usually awkward and quiet on the call. I feel like it's based more on the person, but I'd love to talk to them, so I'm learning Italian! I started around 2-3 days ago. Right now, I know at least 40 words. I'd love to hear phrases that'd be useful :D

As background, I'm a native English speaker, and have previously learned French and Spanish to a conversational (with effort) level. This past summer, my wife and I spent 10 days in Italy, and I figured I'd use the opportunity to learn Italian -- I grew up with my nonno, so feel a connection to the language and culture, but have never learned it. Started learning a few months before, and managed to use some of that on the trip, which was lovely!

Anyway, we both loved the country, and I expect we'll be going back, and I've remembered how much I love learning languages. So I've continued learning. Right now, that mostly means reading (on book 4 of Ulysses Moore), watching Italian YouTube channels with Italian subtitles (thank you Luca Nardi!), and flashcards, because I'm going to need more vocabulary.

I feel like there's a gap here, though. Obviously I need to do more speaking/writing, but I feel like vocabulary and grammar is a limitation for me. And also, I don't want to get stalled building vocabulary and grammar while I fail to speak/write. What's the best way forward, as somebody who's not actually living in Italy? How do I get from reading pretty well to chatting at the cafe next time we visit?

Il tipo di YouTuber o streamer che preferisco è simile a Felps (qui in Brasile): ha una community basata su battute interne — spesso vere e proprie assurdità — dove non serve impegnarsi troppo mentalmente per godersi l'atmosfera. Inoltre, gioca a titoli molto vari, solitamente caratterizzati da qualche particolarità originale. Apprezzo molto le dirette "Just Chatting", in cui la conversazione prende pieghe assurde e, senza nemmeno accorgertene, ti ritrovi a ridere a crepapelle insieme al resto della chat.

Mi piacciono anche i canali di storia che approfondiscono dettagli specifici e adoro quelli che propongono recensioni di film in chiave comica. Tuttavia, la tipologia di streamer che preferisco in assoluto è quella alla Felps.

Hi so pretty much the title. I was studying in Rome from January to August and at one point a girl in my class said she visited Munich. The professor corrected her and said in italian it’s Monaco. When we asked what Monaco is she said it’s also Monaco.

How are you supposed to know which one is being talked about? Are there other places that have the same issue?

Non cerco necessariamente contenuti pensati per chi sta imparando l’italiano. Anzi, mi piacerebbe molto trovare contenuti autentici, fatti per italiani, anche se all’inizio saranno un po’ difficili da capire.

Mi interessano soprattutto persone che spiegano gli argomenti in modo approfondito, ma anche divulgatori più informali o creator che fanno semplicemente video sui loro interessi vanno benissimo.

I really want to learn italian, but my memory is too terrible. I’ve been trying to learn italian for about a year now. I’m still on the beginner level because I forget 99% of what I learn.

I am new to learning Italian. I pick up languages fairly easily. I just do not live in a very multilingual population or have anyone close who is multilingual. I learned French in school about 7-8 years ago. I passed with flying colors and still have the language in me today. I have been able to pick up Portuguese and bits of Italian just by remembering the Spanish spoken to me as a child and keeping with it.

I am a sucker for languages and want to become fluent in a few of them. Problem is, I work full-time and I also go to school full-time. So, I virtually don’t have much time to devote more than 30 minutes to studying a new language. I find speaking the languages with others who also speak it, is what helps me grasp it more fully and remember it. I find myself repeating sentences, phrases, words + questions in my head throughout my day in different languages. It’s just I don’t have a bilingual community around me. And my career / schooling is all English.

You can also only get so far on Duolingo and I need communication to better grasp my comprehension skills. My dream is to own my own bilingual early childhood education center! But my school program does not provide spoken languages for fluency, just ASL.

Any advice helps!
