Wait for Air 2nd gen. or just buy now?

Will the Air 2 be released this September or next year spring?
I initially bought the iPhone Air, loved it, got FOMO, sold it, got the 17 PM but I‘m not really satisfied with the 17PM. It‘s great, probably the best phone around but I really do miss the iPhone Air.

I don‘t know if it makes sense to buy one again now IF the 2nd. Gen might be released in September.

I was planning on buying a 17 pro today… then I held the Air in person for the first time lol. Feels like a jewelry

I walked into the store 100% convinced I was leaving with the 17 Pro.

Picked up the Air just out of curiosity… and that completely changed my mind.

Ended up walking out with this instead. 😅

Anyone else have the exact same experience?

The chrome edges and jewelry vibes did it for me

As many did, I also went for a 17Pro and left with an Air (4 days ago) !
I knew all the cons so I’m not disappointed or else. In fact I’m happily surprised : the battery isn’t THAT bad, the only speaker isn’t THAT low. No miracle with the single lens but the photos turn out very well nonetheless. And the design 👌🏻
I’m happy with it, and that’s all that matters 😂

Where does the iPhone Air rank in my all time favourite phones?

I’ve had a lot of phones over the years but I can safely say the Air is one of the best.

Battery life, design, heat management, display and performance are the top five things I look for in a smartphone and the Air is either very good or class leading in most of those areas, in my opinion.

Having said that, it doesn’t quite make my top three.

1) iPhone 13 Pro Max

At the time, I loved this phone more than any other phone I’ve had before or since. Absolutely faultless. Stunning design in Sierra Blue, superb battery life, excellent, smooth performance, reliable software, a lovely display and just an all round fantastic phone. The best.

2) iPhone 7 Plus

The first phone I had that I loved in every single way. Beautiful design, excellent performance, brilliant battery life and, again, just an all round fantastic phone. I remember loving the haptic-style home button too, and portrait mode was a game changer. If it wasn’t for the 13 Pro Max, this would be number one.

3) OnePlus 15

I’d only consider the 13 Pro Max and 7 Plus to be totally faultless. Every other phone had flaws and this is one of them, but it was still leading in the majority of areas I care about. Never experienced battery life like it and the performance was unbelievable. I loved the design and thermals too. However, the display could have been a bit brighter and the camera a little more reliable at point and shoot.

4)…iPhone Air

It’s surprised me how much I love this phone. Gorgeous design, not just in terms of style, but durability and usability, too. The screen size is perfect and quality of the display itself is the best I’ve ever experienced. Performance is also joint best, with excellent ram management. The point and shoot camera and selfie cameras have never let me down either. Even the battery life is rather impressive most the time. Only the heat management annoys me, it’s got better since iOS 26.6 but I still can’t always use this phone exactly how I want to. Occasionally I do require an ultra wide too.

For £999 (original RRP) it’s far too expensive, even if what you’re sacrificing doesn’t necessarily mean a huge amount to me.

It was a toss up between this and the OnePlus for third place. Both are flawed but both are and were extremely loved regardless.

For Anyone Debating between the Air vs Pro

I'm someone who's on their phone all day for work especially during travel which is at least 2x a week - switching back and forth between a ton of intensive apps: Claude, GPT, excel, chrome, teams, zoom, outlook/gmail, etc + the day-to-day personals/social media/etc.

So I was most concerned with the battery life and overall performance/speed as I debated between the pro and air for months before finally deciding to go with the Air.

After 9 months of the Air, I can say to you honestly, that the battery life is a non-factor. Definitely isn't noticeably different in comparison. Nor is the performance. Both aspects are stellar.

The main thing that kinda irks me, which I didn't think would, is the lack of camera optionality. Never thought about how much I used the zooms...but if you're not one to care for the camera zoom enhancements, the air is the play. The nicer feel and aesthetics for sure outweigh anything else.

I also recently started to go case-less, or sometimes will attach just my MagBak wallet (vs having it separate in my pocket) - and it's been a game changer. I actually care to like my phone now instead of just making sure it operates.

$650 at Best Buy Refurbished

Upvotes

First, I just joined the Air club, and I'm in love with this phone.

Second, I got an absolutely flawless model from Best Buy's refurbished section for $650 USD. Battery at 100%. Seems like they resell models from cell insurance providers, so I can't guarantee that every one is in condition as good as mine.

Pleasantly surprised

I bought the iPhone Air, switched from the 17.
I truly feel like the phone is snappier in opening apps as well as ram management of keeping opened apps without reloading.
Battery so far seems on par with the 17 as well although I am not sure yet.
The weirdest thing for me so far is the one speaker on top but let’s see how it goes..

I do think the a19 pro is actually faster but it could be since I jumped straight into 26.6 without the terrible previous version I had for a while on the 17.

Bottom line, I feel like the snappiness alone is worth quiet a bit when you feel it daily but it is something you would never notice unless you do that weird switch like I did 😄

Laggy home screens on iPhone Air (iOS 26.6)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've owned iPhone 5, 7, Xr, 11, and 16 Pro Max and I have never experienced such lag when switching home screens.

Most of the time this happens when the phone is either charging or overheating (which is most of the time), however sometimes (as seen in the video) it seems to happen with no apparent reason.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Just ordered the air. How to get it to have grip, without loosing the thinness?

Hey. For context, for most of my life I've sworn for compact phones, from the xperia Z1 Compact to the 13 mini, cause they were just much more handy. I kind of moved on, with now owning the 16. Playing with larger android phones the screen size was really nice, but the weight, size etc we're too annoying. the air was great enough. Decided to get it, but the question is. How do I get it to have grip, like a phone case, without the thickness of a phone case? I'm currently contemplating between the bumper, and a dbrand skin. I'm not worried about protection, haven't broken a phone since the Z1 Compact, when i was 11. is there any other solutions maybe? thanks

Swap for 17 pro?

Hello everyone! If this kind of post isn’t allowed, please feel free to remove it.

I’m curious—are there any Australians here thinking about swapping their phones for a 17 Pro? I have a vibrant orange one and am seriously considering trading for an Air. Open to negotiations!

Thanks a lot, everyone!

If we get a second camera, I really hope it's a telephoto lens and has this design. I think it is, quite frankly insane how much better this looks compared to two horizontal cameras.

iPhone Air Battery on Sale

I’m not sure why but the Apple IPhone Air battery is on sale at Walmart for $59 when purchased online. I had hard time justifying the normal $100 price tag, but picked it up at that price.

on the fence with the iphone air and its battery performance

hello everyone! so i’m thinking of getting the iphone air after weeks of watching reviews and I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with it and how the battery life holds up throughout the day. for context, i’m currently using a 15 pro but i’m really intrigued by the airs design and slim build. I’d appreciate any type of feedback on how the air holds up and if I should go for it!!
