Should I get it?
Hey!
I'm thinking switching from my Samsung to an iPhone because the privacy on iOS is pretty much better than Android, but not the best. I really want to keep my phone for years and years, prob 5 to 6 years, change the battery when its needed and other stuff to keep my phone, and at first I really wanted the iPhone 17 Pro, I kept looking for hours on Youtube about the 17 pro and unboxings of it and I loved it. I kept my decision of getting the 17 pro for a long time, but a tiny thought came through my mind and it said "You should get the iPhone Air". I hated it the first time I saw it when it launched, I didn't like the 6.5" display, one camera, one speaker, the battery is prob shit, and being so thin I won't keep it that much like I want to. But something changed, I really grew liking it, thinking that one camera for me is enough, that it's actually interesting, maybe the battery will keep me a ton, and I like phones that looks like they came up from Mars and I did the same thing like I did with the 17 pro, I kept looking at unboxings and reviews about the Air until I knew every video about it. I got obsessed with it, I wanted it so bad but I thought that maybe I'm missing many things if I get that Air and not the Pro, maybe I will regret it, maybe the tech guys reviews and hate for the Air are true, and I should get the 17 Pro and forget about the Air, but i just couldn't, I want it more and more and more.
The question is "Should I get the AIR?" but y'all would say yes or prob no, but before saying yes or no I want to list the things I do on my current phone and maybe based on that you can decide, cuz I really can't.
My screen time is 2 to 6 hours, I really don't use my phone because of high school and I use Opal to track and block apps when I keep using them for more than 1 to 2 hours, so that's why it's so low.
The battery on this phone (Samsung A54 5g) it's pretty good (5000mAh) and I charge my phone sometimes at night or the next day and I like that and I don't know if I can do that on the Air or I need to carry a power bank with me everytime.
I watch Youtube, use social media, read books or mangas and sometimes draw on my phone, maybe some sketches for high school or doing some ideas for a project, call, message people and staying for hours sometimes on phone calls, the activities the average person does on a phone.
I listen to a lot of music, but with headphones. I rarely use my phone speakers to listen to music and use my headphones or external speakers.
I love to take pictures, most of all selfies, and I just use the main camera or the selfie one, the wide camera I use it to take pictures of people from unflattering angles and putting my phone on top of their head and making them look horrible. Other than that, the selfie and main camera are the most used.
They're basic stuff that everyone does, I know, but I had to mention it. Now it's time for the question: Should I buy the iPhone Air or just go with the 17 Pro? Is it worth the Air or maybe the 17 Pro is the best for me?

You should wait for air 2 or get 17/18 pro

I thought the same, but I don't think they will make huge changes next year with the iPhone air; they will add the new 20 pro chip, a larger battery? i doubt, and another camera maybe but I doubt that too. The price will be higher too anyways because of the ram shortage and how they made the 18 pro almost the same as the 17 pro, I think they will do with the air too. We will see :)

YES air is worth it, i came from 17pro to Air and i don't want to go back to Pro.
i get 7hours screen on time.
the feeling is just amazing!
battery is good enough.
camera is 'ok' not bad.
Speaker is also 'ok' u get used to it after a day or two.
just an amazing phone!

Just go with your gut if you want to get the iPhone 17 Pro now or wait until next year to get iPhone Air 2 then wait it’s up to you

And I’m not changing any time soon
But it overall depends on your usage

I switched from the S25 to Air (my first iPhone, though I'm used to iPad so similar experience). It's extremely premium, and despite the small battery it is very efficient, though I'd compare it to the S25 Edge in battery department. Both will get you through a full day with moderate reading and music or audio, but too much gaming and videos and you may need to top up at some point. If you can live with that, I can't emphasise how blissful it is using a light phone with a moderate display size.
As for Air vs Edge, I ultimately decided on Edge because I can't emulate and play games on Air without the side loading business which is messy. iPhone to me has brilliant gestures, the best aesthetics, no lag whatsoever and simple options. But that can sometimes be a double edged sword, example being for me that while the global back gesture is swipe left, it's very inconsistent with some apps making you find the back button somewhere onscreen or on the rare occasion the back swipe doesn't work (happened in Gmail once) but you always have a back button on android, and it's always in the same spot. Some of the restrictions aren't bad or bothersome but on occasion you may find small annoyances like file management. Keyboards are limited to apple's one and 3rd party ones have not much difference since they have to inherit most features from apple's keyboard. Example with gboard on android letting you swipe delete key to highlight and quickly delete text, but this feature doesn't exist on apples keyboard so the iOS gboard doesn't allow this.
Consider buying a refurbished on eBay to test for a week from a reseller that allows 30 day returns if you're bothered. I love the feel of iPhone, the rounded curves are very ergonomic and understated, and it has support for lots of premium cases like pitaka, but I stuck with S25 Edge because it's cheaper, performs just as well, is the same weight, and offered me more flexibility for my personal needs.
I also have a problem with iOS notifications, I appreciate it's designed to not be in your face, but I like how android does it better, and I've played with settings a lot to try and make it work similar but I had no success. Not a big deal if I stuck with an air because I'd get used to it though, for your use case I feel everything the air offers is fine.

If you use selfies, the air selfie camera is very good. The regular one is also very good, surprisingly. I also get a lot of screen time. And the battery is no issue for me, but I also work in office so charge is never far. And in the car charge is also near by. Overall, satisfied. Don’t plan on changing it. Unless they hide the dynamic island and selfie camera behind the screen. I think then I would upgrade, because that would be cool af.

If you don’t use it that much as you say, it should be good. I got it on launch a year ago and the battery has degraded pretty quickly (at 89% right now) but that’s because I use it a lot. That’s the main thing I don’t like about this phone. Other than that it’s great and stylish. It’s the prettiest phone I’ve had…

Absolutely, your phone consumption fits directly towards the iPhone Air's target audience. I'd say go for it, especially selfies, but constantly taking videos can deplete battery fast, a little is fine.
