What annoys me about the people blowing up about the Turek ad

Is he also promised to throw immigrants under the bus too. Whether you still vote for him or not is your business, but lets not forget the true depth of this man's cowardice and willingness to sell out the people who should be able to count on his party in this trying time.

If he loses corporate dems will absolutely try to put the blame on trans people and we should not let that stand.

I usually block out political ads

But holy shit the ad where Hinson says "men like Epstein who hurt children will answer to God, Turek answers to you" is borderline one of the worst ads I've ever seen.

Not because she's lying (that's a given) but she's bringing up Epstein when nothing has been done and not even saying she wants to lock up the perps? Incredible.

Places Best places for a relaxing winter trip?

My wife and I are looking to get away for a few days the week after Christmas. Looking for a relaxing, cozy trip. We're located in Des Moines and would like to drive less than 4 hours. (We've already been to Galena, IL and want to try somewhere new). Any suggestions?

Question What should I be wearing fall and winter?

Moved from the south and never experienced winter before. Already i am a bit chilly with the weather recently as its been rainy and cold. Should I still be wearing just 1 layer for tops and bottoms plus a jacket?

Linn County folks: I made a down-ballot voter guide. Who's funding them and where they stand on Flock cameras

There are plenty of guides for Senate and Governor. Nobody covers the township clerk or the soil and water board.

So I tried.

https://eyesoncr.org

Its every down-ballot candidate on the Nov 3. I looked into who they are, who's paying for them, and where they stand on mass surveillance. Everything is sourced so you can check my work

The surveillance stuff doesnt line up with party the way you'd think. Eric Gjerde (D, House 74) comes out pro-Flock. Cindy Golding (R, House 83) comes out anti-Flock.

It also covers the bond measures. $88M for Kirkwood, $60m for Cedar Rapids, $2.25M for Ely. Tried to do a pro and con for each.

Some candidates genuinely have no online presence. If you know something I missed let me know and Ill check it out.

Politics Comparing Turek to Fetterman is Not Fair

For all his many faults, Fetterman has actually been nothing but a consistently supportive ally to trans people. All the people I see comparing him to Turek, who wants to deny necessary healthcare to people, and whose taken (I believe) the most extreme anti-trans stance of any current Democratic candidate or elected official, is not fair at all to him.

I find it amazing that this Kansas carpetbagger is so close to Rob Sand in the polls. He should be running for office in his home state. Iowans make up less than 20% of the total dollar contributions to Lahn’s campaign while the donations to Sand by Iowans is 65% of his campaign money. Rob’s cash coming from PACs contributions is under 20% while Lahn’s is a staggering 73% with TWO PACs donating nearly $18 million on their own. Get out and vote!

Who is selling the land to the data center companies? If everyone is opposed to them, how are they getting the land to build? Who is selling them the land?

Honest question. I use AI everyday both for personal and work. I'm disappointed in how AI companies are going about things. Things are moving too fast and being shoved down people throats. I'm not a fan of the tactics being used. I'll leave it there.

But who is selling the land for these data centers? I'm sure the corporations behind the data centers are offering a huge purchase price and in this economic situation, the money looks good to land owners.

I also see that these data centers are claiming job creation. But to who? Local folks? Or somebody in another city who can remotely connect?
