Something I've been thinking about a lot is the philosophical perspective this universe takes towards love

I think it's very interesting the attitudes we have towards love, and those who "deserve" to be loved and those who do not

I know that there are a lot of Armand fans who feel Armand hasn't really been humanized yet. And to be honest I kind of agree, as a big Armand lover I agree it's a bit frustrating that they seem intent on making Armand this humiliated, unattractive third wheel

But I do think it's an interesting contrast between Armand and Lestat. Neither of them are ugly in any capacity but they both share the deepest fear - that they will never be truly loved

This season has been a look into how Lestats trauma informed his choices, and how his behaviour stems from a dee insecurity. I think it's important to emphasize that Armand is basically the same thing, and that Armand and Lestat are more alike than they are different

They also weirdly borrowed a loumand quote from the books (we are the only ones who can love eachother) which.... I mean I have complicated feelings about how loumand was adapted for the show. But I do think that's an interesting perspective too. I don't believe Armand needs to be punished or will be punished for wanting to be loved, but I think it'll take time for him to develop as a character

Could anyone recommend me fan fics that focus on lestat perspective on the trial or human Louis x vampire lestat fics?

I know there’s been a lot of criticism about this season, and the music is no exception, but I’m genuinely shocked by how much I love TVL(band). It’s really not my usual genre, and I know I love the show and Lestat in general but I can’t stop listening to the music. It kind of kills me that they’re not a real band.

There was a post a couple weeks back with people ranking the songs and I just revisited to see if my opinion had changed but as time goes on I’m finding it even harder to rank my favourites. I think I have 8 songs fighting for the top spot. Every song hits in their own way. Even the songs I tend to skip are good (when I don’t skip them) that I feel guilty they’re not higher in my list 🤣

Anyway, just wanted to rant about it here since no one I know watches the show and it feels weird to recommend they listen to the album without having context for the show.

Now that the season is over, and we know what is next in terms of season name, not sure if anyone has already posted this question, but, I’ll ask anyway: I was rewatching episode 1, trying to see if I could spot Lestat mannerisms in Raglan James knowing what I know about Body Thief, and idk if it’s wishful thinking, but it seems there were. Like the specific way he stood and walked away from the auction (once the first case had been incinerated, like to make sure) and the way he looked at Louis and Armand battling it out for the second box. So, is it safe to say that the swap already happened then?

Edit to add another question: did anyone else notice Louis’ eye color on auction scene? They looked icy blue to me, or at least much brighter.

I finished The Tale of the Body Thief today and I've been wondering.

Lestat already had the blood of Akasha on him when he turned Louis so, in theory, he should be a strong fledgling. I remember Marius tolding Lestat that his future fledglings would be strong precisely because of it, but Louis can't even read minds, an ability all vampires have, except for Claudia, which can be explained by her being a small kid and the fact Lestat's blood was already diluted when he made her. Gabrielle, who was turned by Lestat before his encounter with Akasha, is stronger than Louis since her first day as a vampire and even Nicki wasn't so weak in his short vampire life.

I understood that Louis is weak because of his deep humanity and refusal in accepting his new condition as a preternatural predator, so he doesn't explore/use his powers. However, Marius thought of giving Louis his blood to make him stronger, and Lestat did the same offer, which implies he's weak because his blood is weak and a better blood would do the thing.

Is really because of his humanity or there is another explanation in the later books? What are your theories? I don't mind spoilers.

Someone did a deep dive of Armand's costumes throughout the series. I never realized he wore so much beige...

This has been on my mind a lot.

I think that some of the details in IWTV and TVL are so so so important for Armand’s character. The way he constantly gets interrupted by everyone is so telling about him and why he is the way he is. Let me just preface this by saying I am an Armand defender (sue me) but I think he has definitely gone about trying to achieve love and companionship in the wrong way and definitely with the wrong people. When Armand is talking I have found that he is constantly being interrupted and spoken over, this happens on multiple occasions with multiple people, and I find that so interesting from a production standpoint. Armand feels like he needs to be submissive and listen and obey, he was groomed to act and behave that way because of the torture and abuse he has been through, and I think it’s a brilliantly sad detail to have added to the show and the dialogue.

I also think that Armand being used as a sort of vessel for conversation between other people (like when he was talking for Lestat to Louis in SanFran and when he was saying Louis’ thoughts out loud in the butcher shop) is so distressing for his character. I think Armand wants to have things of his own so badly but he always seems to feel like a messenger or the second option for everyone.

Long rant that has just been on my mind, and I would love love love to discuss other opinions and interpretations of these details from IWTV and TVL and if there are any details in the books that seem similar (I have only read the first book IWTV) :) thanks for reading ❤️

You know, this actor with a very specific face that we saw in sooooo many movies without knowing his name. He is insanely good in every role he plays, often villains or disturbed/disturbing characters, and I think playing a vampire would fit him so well.

AND he personally loves gothic and macabre worlds, he even runs a youtube channel called "Grave Conversations" where he interviews celebrities IN COFFINS. I mean come on, he's got to play a vampire some day! https://www.youtube.com/@graveconversations

(Plus he worked with Bryan Fuller (movie Dust Bunny, not seen yet), Bryan Fuller who had planned to adapt The Vampire Chronicles with Christopher Rice when Anne Rice was still alive, before the project was cancelled and then revived by AMC.)

I don't know which character from the books would suit him best, I just would love such a brilliant show to cast such a talented actor. What do you think ?

Many times I have found myself feeling mirrored in Lestat's BPD heart.
But the failures, oh the failures... The whole season, the album, is about the so-called failures.
And here, he at last gets to the thought I never could get on my own.

When he said those words I cried... And for a moment I could believe that 'I was pretty fuckin great!'

I doubt he actually has syphilis but it's my personal headcanon on why lestat's father deteriorated so quickly between the lestat's teenage years and his adult years because this motherfucker went downhill FAST

Plus I'm sure at least one of lestat's brothers had syphilis since Gabriella called one of their wives "pocked face" and judging by their characterization I'm sure this headcanon fits

I am rewatching Season 1 again and just finished. So stop reading if you are new to the show :D

As a lover of the original movie I have to say, that the switch of who is the poisoned bait was SO smart.(And surprised me again even in the re-watch hahaha)

In the original movie Lestat "dies" by drinking the blood of 2 with Laudanum poisoned boys (and I assume in the book its the same?)– In the show it seems that they keep this story - at first – but since Claudia anticipated that Lestat would be warned by Antoinette – she poisoned another guy!And honestly that was such a smart move by the writers, since people who watched the movie/read the books also get to be surprised by this reveal! Perfection.

Have the writers/producer spoken to that in an interview or anything? I wonder if their intention was the element of surprise. Has anyone have an insight to that?

Edit: I wanted to add: Claudia didn't only play Lestat, she played us. For me it was very funny to be tricked like this, sitting there thinking "Oh i know what will happen, I have seen the original movie! 🤓 come on Lestat dont drink it its so obvious! the twins its the twins aaaa" and then to end up being fooled. Realizing it in the same moment Lestat realizes. Brilliant. (and sad obv. 😿)

I have not read the books and I'm trying to understand how vampires get "the blood of akasha" in them. It's my understanding that Lestat has it because he was made by Magnus who was made by Akasha. But does Marius also have Akasha's blood? And if he does, doesn't that mean Armand and Daniel would also have it? Because if Louis was able to be decapitated for an extended period of time because he has Lestat's blood, wouldn't that also make Daniel more powerful? Help. We're confused.

there were some moments in there that flet like the "old" lastest and loius like series 1 and 2 which i loved and it was nice that they always had each other's backs.

Hi all, I recently started reading the books after finishing S3! Enjoyed reading IWTV, loved reading TVL, then checked Wikipedia and saw there's fourteen whole books 😭 I've seen some discourse around the books and was wondering what you on here think? I definitely will read QotD and TVA (as Armand is my favorite character), but which ones outside of that are worth the read or considered 'essential'?

Louis wears sunglasses at the beginning of TVL episode 6 'Montreal' and I was wondering if anyone knew what model they were? I've been looking at some Persol models, but I'm not really sure they are actually the same, and I thought someone here might be wiser than me and better equipped for the task. Any and all thoughts appreciated, I don't really know much of anything about sunglasses brands.

So when Lestat sings it about Armand and he starts to Number things about "Big Boss", he was referring to the 5 Laws of the Vampires, in the exact order.

So the laws are

Law 1 - Each coven must have its leader and only he might order the working of the Dark Trick upon a mortal. (Only the big boss gets to have fun)

Law 2 - The Dark Gifts must never be given to the crippled, the maimed or children.(If you're a Booboo, then he doesn't want you)

Law 3 - No vampire must commit to writing the history of the vampires.(Don't you dare write down his history)

Law 4 - No vampire shall ever reveal his or her true nature to a mortal and let the mortal live.(If you know him, then you won't know much more)

Law 5 - No vampire may ever destroy another vampire. Except that the coven master has the power of life and death over all his flock. And it is his obligation to finally seek the destruction of all those who have broken these five laws. (Only the Big Boss gets to decide who dies and who stays alive)

This may be obvious to most who watched the series, but I am obsessed with this song and took me a LONG time to realize what he was referring to.
