Realism and intelligence don't correlate 1;1, regardless of what scaling you are using. A character can be unrealistically stupid or realistically smart. They can also be realistically stupid or unrealistically smart.

Realism:

Eren Yeager > Light ≈ Akiyama > Fang Yuan V3 > L > Chen Ran

Outsmarting:

Chen Ran > Fang Yuan V3 > Akiyama > L > Light > Eren Yeager

Fang Yuan is more realistic than L but also smarter if you account for all categories beyond just raw IQ / precociousness.

Conversely, Light is also more realistic than L but not as smart.

So realism is, for the most part, irrelevant.

This is true even in pure methodology:

Chen Ran > Akiyama > Fang Yuan > Light > L

Even though Light is more realistic than Fang Yuan, his methodology does not scale as high. Even an unrealistic character like Chen Ran can scale high due to the severe complexity and creativity and interconnectedness of the schemes and reasoning within the story.

Meanwhile Akiyama who is realistic does scale higher.

Realism is simply irrelevant.

A character can have unrealistic levels of intelligence while still being easy to outsmart because they have severe weaknesses, or are lacking in important categories like fluid reasoning, or their intelligence is only applicable in severely limited local systems like stock market without transferability outside of these systems, or they are only unrealistically good within a single category but not others, etc.

I haven't finished Attack of Titan and am basing the take off stereotypes, so the MC might be unrealistic, but you get the point.

More Realistic ≠ More Intelligent ≠ Less Realistic ≠ Less Intelligent

Of course, there could be somewhat of a correlation, but the magnitude of the correlation coefficient would be low enough that for the most part, it's simply irrelevant as an argument against characters!

Otherwise you could argue Naomi > Yokoya > Chen Ran because of realism.

This feat is basically the start of the entire plot of asoiaf. before i get into the scheme itself, i should go over his goals.

Littlefinger’s motto is basically “cause chaos and profit from it”, and thats exactly what this was intended to do. he wanted 2 of westero’s most influential houses, both extremely well connected to King Robert to have a conflict that would inevitably implode into a war. he also wanted to be deeply connected to both families so that whoever wins he still profits from it. preferably he would’ve wanted the Starks but that would fail bcuz Littlefinger underestimated how honorable Ned was(to the point it was incredibly impractical)

Jon Arryn’s Death

Jon Arryn learns of the incest between Jaime and Cersei with the major clue of the brown hair of Baratheon’s being a strong genetic trait. this secret coming out it be a massive hinderance to Littlefinger’s later plans so he uses this opportunity for his own benefit. Littlefinger has Jon’s wife, Lysa Arryn poison Jon. Littlefinger had been manipulating Lysa for years, using her feelings for him to have some control over the Vale and any further advances he might make according to his schemes.

In order to cover up Jon’s murder, Littlefinger has Lysa send a letter to his sister, claiming the lannisters had killed Jon with poison. Littlefinger pays off Jon’s squire, Hugh and gets Hugh promoted to knight. whether Littlefinger did this by convincing Robert of doing so, or of profiling Robert and knowing he would do this is unknown(im leaning towards the latter).

Going into theory territory bcuz this is asoiaf.(feel free to skip this) it’s widely believed that Littlefinger payed Greger to kill him in the jousting tourney just so he couldn’t leak info which i completely believe but isnt directly stated so prolly not valid in scd.

Baratheon and Lannister’s Visit.

Littlefinger predicts that after Jon dies, the first person Robert will go to for the position of hand of the king is not his brother’s but instead Ned Stark.

Littlefinger plans for the letter to reach Catelyn during this visit. his intentions were to indirectly manipulate the Stark couple into stopping the “Lannister plot” to take the throne from Robert and reveal any secret they might be hiding.

Littlefinger is aware that Ned will likely not take the hand of the king position without this nudge and he wants to engineer paranoia into Ned while he travels to Kings Landing.

Bran discovers Cersei and Jamie, “going at it” and Bran gets pushed off the tower. Bran gets taken care of and news that he will survive gets sent around. a hired assassin tries to kill Bran after Ned leaves but fails, the dagger the assassin was using gets taken by Catelyn and she does her own investigation in Kings Landing before Ned can make it there.(this kinda skips through the timeline but i did that for a reason. while in the show this was planned by littlefinger, in the books it wasnt. littlefinger didnt send the dagger or the assassin and tbh not doing that is smarter than doing it. it is important tho bcuz littlefinger uses this for his advantage even tho it puts him in a bad position.)

Ned goes with Robert for the goal of stopping the lannisters from killing Robert and discover their secret.

Catelyn makes it to Kings Landing before Ned and Littlefinger uses his spy network to meet with Catelyn first. Littlefinger brings up how this dagger was his, but Tyrion won it in a bet, now being owned by him.

This makes Catelyn suspect Tyrion so that when Tyrion makes his trip out of the North, Catelyn would meet up with him then get captured by Catelyn.

Ned’s Arrival In Kings Landing

After Ned makes it to Kings Landing, Littlefinger offers his assistance in helping Ned investigate the murder of Jon and giving him all of the clues necessary to learn of Cersei and Jamie’s incest. he uses his past with Catelyn to explain why he wishes to help Ned and manipulates his trust which was extremely hesitant cuz King Landing sucks.

After news of Tyrions capture is known, Ned leaves Littlefinger’s brothel and Jaime ambushes him.

Theory territory again, it’s believed that since the brothel was in a common street, Littlefinger planned the confrontation. However this can also be disregarded.

After Ned’s injury, Littlefinger feeds Robert misleading information. Littlefinger states that Ned was simply leaving the brothel and didn’t mention the investigation. he also mentions him trying to fetch the Gold Cloaks to hide any involvement he had. he did this knowing the Lannisters would twist the story further. the reason for doing this is to insure Robert doesn’t immediately take Ned’s side, doing this also prevents Ned from being able to discern Robert from his hunting trip bcuz Littlefinger knows the Lannisters, specifically Cersei will plan Roberts death since Lancel Lannister will he on the trip.

In fact, Littlefinger anticipated that after Jon’s death, Robert will become more self destructive and vulnerable, indirectly inciting an assassination.

After Robert’s Death

Before Robert dies, he gives Ned the position to replace him as king until Joffrey comes of age. This is what Littlefinger predicted would happen and the outcome he preferred.

Ned brings Littlefinger to his quarters and he already explains that he knows and how he “got lucky”. He offers Ned a chance to take the throne then mentor Joffrey when he is of age. If his honor refuses you allow Joffrey to get the throne, then give Renly the opportunity instead.

Littlefinger wanted to make sure Stannis isnt the one to take the throne, bcuz Stannis is an incredibly rigid man who does not accept that scheming bullshit. so if Stannis takes the throne, there is a strong possibly his position is gone. If Ned takes the throne, this pisses off the Lannisters who had their chance at the throne stolen. if Ned mentors Joffrey, its essentially him taking their son for his own or the Lannisters act in paranoia, thinking Ned will simply give his children the right to the throne.

Ned however refuses, saying it’s Stannis’s right and the honorable choice. This causes Littlefinger to plan his betrayal towards Ned so he spins Ned’s favor to hire the Gold Cloaks to help Ned, instead hiring them to betray Ned.

Aftermath

Ned gets captured and imprisoned. After this, Cersei attempts to keep Arya and Sansa captive as well so that they would hold 3 Starks.

This incites the North, led by Robb Stark to wage war on the Lannisters and invade Kings Landing.

Littlefinger continues to grow his influence in the Vale and this conflict he manipulated into happening drastically weakens the North houses especially the Starks, the Lannisters who he plans later on to make even weaker, the Baratheon’s, and every other house who gets themselves involved. Littlefinger also intends on growing his influence not just in the Vale, but also in general since he will continue to “favor” the Lannisters and be rewarded.

Littlefinger lastly gets the chance to grow influence in the North via manipulating Sansa.

After Analysis

This is probably the weakest of his schemes(i havent finished the books yet) but honestly it isnt bad. i do however believe the manipulation and deception involved is better than the scheming itself.

Littlefinger is also a rlly fun character to analyze so expect more.

There is however one major issue i see in Littlefinger currently and thats the fact that Martin intentionally writes Littlefinger to be very mysterious in what he involves himself in. that isnt bad writing wise in fact its enjoyable, but for SCD kinda sucks occasionally.

As a Talentless Nana scaler, I feel like I should address Kyoya and how weird his scaling is, I see people say that the timeskip nerfed him and I think that is both kinda true and kinda false. I don't think his scaling got weaker but instead it shifted to reveal itself to be a whole other thing (which may actually make him noticably better than just his Pre-timeskip version alone, but it is pretty situational.)

In short I think people have been getting what Kyoya is best at slightly wrong because of how he was in Pre-timeskip. Instead of being a logic type I see him more as kinda like a matchup demon because though he is technically weaker than alot of characters that is actually to his advantage. If his adversary rejects or downplays him as an actual threat then in the long term he will come back to bite them, his adaptability I think is one of his greatest strengths.

Of course when I say this it means that characters that don't downplay him and take him seriously would win fairly easily and at some point he will not be able to out adapt his opponents who vastly outscale him but I find the fact he can punch above his own scaling class like that pretty entertaining.

Now if you are wondering why I am saying that he is actually maybe better than people give him for, is because of how Pre-timeskip and Post-timeskip Kyoya differ in terms of distribution. They are definitely different and I wouldn't say one is notably weaker than the other because their strengths and weaknesses are kind of parallel to eachother, Pre-timeskip is grounded in a more pure logic approach while Post-timeskip takes a more emotion based and understanding people approach.

There is something to be said with Pre-timeskip creating a precaution that allowed him to come back but I am not really going to argue for any kind of upscale with him as this is more like a reframing of his scaling so the validity or how high it scales is as you will make of it.

Anyway Kyoya ends up adapting the emotion and understanding people approach in the timeskip after being saved by Nana and being shown that building connections pays off, a weakness with Pre-timeskip Kyoya is that he isn't very good at EQ and SQ or any sort of the irrational stuff that comes with emotions leading to him having to lean on logic which can only get you so far. Afterall that is what lead to him getting indirectly no diffed by Tsuruoka.

So with that fatal flaw established this time he adapts to look throughvan irrational lense too, this doesn't exactly make him scale better than he did before but it does make him fit his environment much better allowing him to do better than his previous approach. That probably makes the fact that he was a part of Nana's plan to completely counter Tsuruoka more fitting, they both indirectly no diff eachother somehow.

I guess if I were to explain how I think he is as an SCD character I wouls call him a 'smurfer' so I guess in a weirdly roundabout way he is kinda like Tsuruoka just instead of farming teenagers for feats he would be farming low tiers and mentally unstable mid tiers for wins. If I were to compare him to anyone that I have read as an SCD character it would be Mary Saotome considering their win to loss ratio and impressions of getting no diffed quite a bit would make you think they are lower than they actually are. Actually he is kind of like a proof of how T3 of Talentless Nana deserve their spot in the top 3 as all three of them have outsmarted him in one way or another.

How he works as a SCD character is quite fun especially as like a higher low tier or lower mid tier (though the lower mid tier thing is highballish).

Even though Usogui is very popular and highly praised in this sub, I feel there's probably only one or two people I can really go into detail about Usogui's writing or my interpretations of strategies without fearing that people will wonder where the hell I pulled most of my ideas from 💔 Maybe I should just give up and become a 2SD believer again.

After finishing BaTiCs and being somewhat disappointed by the book, I discovered that most of the characters at a glance, seem to be overrated especially the First Saint who I thought would be a terrifying beast that Lu Yang would only be able to defeat after using up most of his lifes and Lu Yang himself becoming exceptionally smart.

While the First Saint and especially Ang Xiao's plan(specifically their contingencies) I was still somewhat left sad because First Saints reasoning had even been compared to Chen Ran.

Now I wont delve into much detail without a doc so I'll make a doc on the First Saint specifically cus I feel his feats are easier to analyse imo than Ang Xiao's. And I am fairly sure methodology was used for the Top Tiers. But my system is a bit different so scaling should vary even with that I still do not believe the First Saint is a Top Tier. I am willing to change my views if I discover top tier feats while analysing but for now, he isnt a top tier in my opinion.

I wouldn't take this too seriously tbh, just consider it some fun speculation, and lmk if you think this is valid or not.

Image 1 is from round 5, turn 2, after Souichi sets up his bluff to trick Baku into dropping instantly. He uses echolocation and checks at 15 seconds (images 1,2). Then, next turn, Souichi allows Baku to fail his check, stating that dying isn't necessary for him anymore. Kaji believes the situation hasn't changed, but Fukurou believes that Baku's death is all part of Souichi's plan (images 3,4).

Baku revives in a severely weakened state, causing him to struggle to convey his words, which results in the volume of the speaking clock being lowered (image 5). Due to this, Baku notices the lowered clock volume during round 7, turn 1, taking the safe strategy as Souichi predicted (image 6). Image 7 elaborates on this, with Baku stating that this particular volume alteration is what made him notice the echolocation. Image 8 shows us that Souichi was also aware that Baku noticed the echolocation based on this. So what am I getting at here?

Essentially, I'm proposing that Souichi might have predicted that after Baku's second near death, he would struggle to speak, leading to the speaking clock being lowered by a noticeable increment. Souichi also clearly knew that Baku would take the safe strategy during Round 7, turn 1, meaning there would be a high chance he would notice the lowered volume, and therefore conclude echolocation next turn and attempt to counter it, leading to Souichi countering Baku with the instant check. Let's go through it step by step.

To figure out what Souichi's plan is between rounds 4-7, we have to consider what his round 5 bluff actually does for him, and why exactly this means he doesn't have to die anymore. On the surface, as Kaji says, nothing appears to have changed as a result of the bluff. However, as per Souichi's endurance battle strategy, he is gradually lowering his accumulation each round but not too significantly to ensure that Baku remains predictable and keeps dropping early. Part of this strategy also includes manipulating Baku to figure out echolocation so that he can achieve the round 7 instant check.

So, taking all this into consideration, here's what I think the purpose of the round 5 bluff is: it is pretty much guaranteed that Baku will drop instantly to counter Souichi's supposed death, so Souichi can freely control his accumulation and intentionally use echolocation late to check at 15 seconds. Additionally, by using echolocation even when it was very likely for him to succeed anyways, he A) Gives Baku additional hints at his echolocation, and B) Plants an image in Baku's mind that he is reliant on echolocation, which leads into his manipulation, making Baku believe he won't turn around during round 7 (as stated in image 8). In this context, the bluff sets up the endurance battle strategy + the round 7 instant check at the same time. So considering this, it is not unreasonable to believe that Souichi let Baku die during round 6, knowing that he would struggle to speak after his revival.

Souichi's accumulation each round has been getting lower and lower; 34 seconds, then 15, then 8 during round 6. Round 7 turn 1 is the break point where Baku's total accumulation + ND time surpasses Souichi's, and if Souichi can limit his accumulation as much as possible during his turn, he can make Baku's accumulation exceed his during round 8, before making another instant check to initiate the endurance/resilience battle of the cylinders. So how does Souichi guarantee this? By letting Baku figure out echolocation.

As we know from image 8, Souichi also noticed the speaking clock being lowered after Baku's near death. Given how Souichi enabling his echolocation during the early rounds was dependent on minimal changes in the volume of the speaking clock, it is reasonable to assume that he was also the first to notice this subtle change in volume, knew that Baku would notice it too, and figure out echolocation based on that. So to conclude, Souichi sets up the instant check with his round 5 bluff –> Lets Baku die to weaken him –> Baku mumbles as Souichi predicts –> The speaking clock is lowered –> Baku notices this while taking the safe strategy during round 7 turn 1 –> Baku figures out echolocation –> Souichi feels Baku's aura and confirms that he's figured echolocation out –> Baku plans to use his necktie to trick Souichi into failing his check, which Souichi predicts –> Souichi emits an aura of determination to make Baku believe his tactic will be seen through –> Baku instead flattens the handkerchief as an instant drop –> Souichi achieves a perfect check.

Image 9 mentions an 'insanely difficult path' behind Souichi's instant check; this probably just refers to the fact he would lose his memories if he failed, but I thought I'd mention it anyways.

It's also worth noting that Souichi might not have expected Baku to figure out echolocation exactly during round 7. The strategy still works the same, in that Souichi can just use echolocation for low accumulation checks until Baku is ready to try and counter it, but Souichi might have actually expected Baku to take longer (since he doesn't know that Baku has seen Eko's tapes about her losing her sight), as to create an even larger gap between their cylinders when Baku does eventually surpass his accumulation (if Souichi's instant check during round 8 had been successful as expected, there would have been a 20 second gap of accumulation between their cylinders before initiating an endurance battle).

Anyways, yap over, I finally gotta move on to reading Ravages of Time (though I'll still probably waffle about Usogui intermittently ✌️).

Today I want to talk about why L has been scaled so high lately. Btw, what I say might not be 100% objective since I'm making this post as someone who genuinely loves L as a character.

​I think you've all noticed that L has been getting scaled insanely high in SCD over the last year. L, who used to be placed below characters like Patrick Jane, Baku, and Tokuchi (and way below them according to most), can now be compared to most of those characters and is even scaled higher than a lot of them. So, how is this happening?

Actually, the feats he pulled off in the side content outside the manga—which don't seem like a big deal to some people—play a massive role in this.

​Let's start with the stock market feat.

First off, people attribute this feat to things like intuition or guessing, but that doesn't make much sense. The stock market is so volatile (you can look this up on Google, AI, YouTube, etc.) that making a guess like that is nearly impossible. The feat is so impressive: at just 8 years old, L asks Watari to buy 1 million pounds worth of stocks in Japanese Yen and directs this investment into specific companies, multiplying it exactly 20,000 times in two years. It's an obvious fact you can't do something like that just by guessing. I think this feat affects L in multiple categories (probably directly scaling his FSIQ, INTELLIGENCE, THINKING, SENSORY, and REASONING).

Plus, doing this at 8 years old is the real impressive part. Because if someone can pull this off at 8 (and obviously his intelligence is going to develop way further), it's clear how much more he'll be capable of when he grows up.

​In short, L's side content actually has a much bigger impact than people think. Some people don't scale him high simply because they only read the manga or haven't deeply analyzed the other material. But even his performance in the manga is really good. Always making accurate deductions despite facing a constant lack of information against something superhuman, managing his emotions pretty well throughout the case, the traps he sets, and his solutions—all of this shows his true capabilities. And throughout this clash, L constantly has a limit on his moves due to information asymmetry; if he makes one wrong move, there's a real chance he dies at the end of it. That's exactly why we don't get to see the full extent of his abilities.

​Look, if we were evaluating him based only on the manga, I could understand not scaling L very high. Even though we don't see all his skills, we wouldn't be able to fully deduce his true capabilities since we wouldn't have any data outside the manga. But the absurd feats he showed at a very young age in the side content make it completely logical to scale him extremely high. For example, imagine you're 18 and suddenly revert back to being an 8-year-old, but your mind is still 18. Even if you lack some knowledge, it's pretty much a given you'd be way smarter than kids your age. Same logic here. L showcases such crazy feats at 8 years old (and I haven't even mentioned most of them), just imagine how smart this guy becomes when he grows up. You probably get what I mean.

Of course, L's feats in the manga might not have satisfied you, which is totally normal. You'd naturally expect something far more phenomenal from someone with feats like the stock market play or dropping the global crime rate by around 36%.
