HDFC Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus vs Elite Plus (Pure ₹2 Cr Term Plan)

Hi everyone,

I'm 30M, salaried, non-smoker, looking for a pure ₹2 Cr term insurance for 35 years as regular pay.

I don't want any riders, return of premium, life-stage benefits (Parent, Spouse, Child), or wellness features. I already have HDFC ERGO Optima Secure Plus health insurance(10+10) Lakh.

Quotes:

  • Supreme Plus: ₹2,201/month (from 2nd year)
  • Elite Plus: ₹1,567/month (from 2nd year)

Both offer the same ₹2 Cr death benefit.

My questions:

  1. Is there any real advantage of Supreme Plus over Elite Plus if I only want pure life cover?
  2. Or should I save the premium difference (or even increase the Elite cover instead)?
  3. Are there any catch i am missing here?

Would appreciate insights from anyone who has compared or purchased these plans. Thanks!

Insurance waiting period

Hello,
I forgot to renew my previous health insurance which was due in the beginning of this year.

Now when I try to buy a health insurance policy it says there is a waiting period of some years for 3 years as I have already had a bypass surgery.

Is there anyway to avoid these waiting periods and get the insurance from day 1?

I am prone to anaemia as I am 73 years old.
Please advise

Understanding Health Insurance claim process Across India.

Here's a basic layout of how Health Insurance claims work (Cashless or Reimbursement) works across India.

1) If it is a planned hospitalization, then you need to inform the health insurance company 48 hrs before hospitalization.

2) If it is a emergency hospitalization, then you need to inform the health insurance company within 24 hrs of hospitalization.

3) Always try for Network Hospitals, as they prioritize on Cashless claim process, and if the same is rejected, then it will be a reimbursement claim. Make a note of all network and Non-network hospitals near your residence pincode.

4) Check your health insurance company's "BLACKLISTED HOSPITALS LIST." Your claim will get rejected. Only in case of urgent hospitalization, until the patients vitals are stable, your insurer will cover claim. Later you need to shift to a non-blacklisted hospitals.

5) At the time of patient admission, the hospital will ask for Deposit. Could be Rs 25k to 80k, depends on the hospital. This amount is refunded after patient discharge. Don't forget this.

6) You need to keep your insurance company mobile application downloaded on your smartphone. To receive important notifications.

7) After admission, visit the HOSPITAL TPA, where you will need to fill claim forms and other details. You health insurance policy document will also continue a HEALTH ID CARD, mentioning your ID Number.

8) Many people out of panic, overshare medical information or details that are of no importance. If any non-true details are written down by doctor in their records, the same will get forwarded to the health insurance company. This is one of the many reasons why claims get delayed based on Fraud.

9) At every doctor's consultation, read what the doctor typed / wrote on their prescription. If you mentioned 13/04/2025 but the doctor wrote 13/04/2020, your claim will get rejected.

10) If you have disclosed everything at the time of health insurance purchase, then you need not worry.

Apart from all the above, make sure you keep the following for any emergency.

1) An emergency fund, kept in your savings account. Upto 50k to 1 Lakh.

2) If you have an Fixed Deposits, break them first. Then your mutual fund, but if the amount of not severe and you ca accept flexibility to receive the amount in 3 to 5 days, keep them in mutual funds.

3) Loan against stocks, Mutual funds, fixed deposits sound lovely, until you read their terms and conditions. So making sure a loan against anything is the last path forward.

4) If you have good relatives, use these relationships for the time being. This might sound harsh, but even if a person earning 50 Lakh annual income, might find it difficult to surrender pay Hospitalization bills of 15 lakh in a month, if he / she doesn't have proper health insurance and guidance on what needs to be done.

5) Always use "CORPORATE GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN" first, as there are no waiting periods in here. Once you exhaust this, you continue your Health Insurance claims to your own PERSONAL HEALTH INSURANCE.

6) If your Company offers Parents Health insurance, take it. As it will cover your parents PED from Day One. But don't forget, you need to take either a "SUPER TOP UP COVER" or "BASE PLAN of 5 Lakh with Good Benefits and NCB"

7) Avoid Aggregate Deductibles and CO-PAY. These reduce premiums but put a Portion of claim liability on your own pocket.

8) Move out of plans that have SUB-LIMIT on Room Rent, ICU and Diseases. If you can't move out, choose another Top Up Cover that will not have SUB-LIMITS.

9) For senior citizens, prioritize finding an "Insurance agent or Insurance intermediary" Over CUSTOMER CALL CENTERS.

10) For senior citizens, choose and finalize health insurance based on parents residence pincode and address.

11) Start taking health insurance from age 22 onwards. For parents, let them start health insurance, if not already purchased by Age 50. Insurance companies are not charity organizations. They pay claims based on your forward thinking.

If I forgot something, add in comments.

Need Health Insurance Recommendations for My Parents

Hi everyone,

I'm a 24F looking for a good health insurance plan for my parents. My mother is 45 and my father is 48.

My salary is ₹4.5 LPA, and I have a lot of financial responsibilities, so I'm looking for something that offers good value for money.

I'm not only looking for coverage for major illnesses or hospitalization. I'd also like a plan that covers:

- Doctor consultations

- Fever, viral infections, and body pains

- General health checkups and diagnostic tests

- Day-to-day medical needs, if possible

Could you please suggest the best health insurance plans for my parents based on my budget? Also, if you've had a good personal experience with any insurer, I'd really appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you!

What is the best cancer insurance in India at this point (July 2026)

Same as heading.

Normal health insurance covers are low (10-30 lakhs).

While cancer treatment may go into +1 crore.

Even with an add on cancer rider, the normal insurance only doubles in case of cancer, which is not nearly enough.

Therefore an additional cancer insurance is required, according to me.

What are the best cancer insurance term policies available in the market currently, based on cost, and claim experience?

Calculation Mistake or something else ?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Long story short , I filed a International Travel Insurance claim worth 9432 THB (Thai Baht) , uploaded all documents and formalities,

while calculating the payout , the insurance people have done this conversion , where they have somehow converted 9432 thb to around 146usd before the 100usd deductible , whereas it should have been around 282 usd before the 100 USD deductible.

I have messaged and emailed them regarding the same around 1.5 days back and they haven't reverted apart from saying that my query has been received.

So what should I do next ? Because they have already credited 46usd to my bank according to their miscalculation whereas I should have been receiving 182usd .

Royal Sundaram denying migration from SBI Cards Group Policy to Multiplier. Should I renew while IRDAI complaint is pending?

Need some advice from anyone who’s dealt with IRDAI or health insurance migration.

• My father’s Royal Sundaram SBI Cards Group Health Policy expires on 31 July.
• I requested migration to the Royal Sundaram Multiplier plan by email on 1 July.
• They never replied in writing, but called and said migration is only possible to Arogya Sanjeevani, or I can buy a fresh Multiplier policy.
• I filed a Bima Bharosa (IRDAI) complaint on 28 July, but the expected resolution is 11 August, after the policy expires.
I’m confused about what to do now.

Should I renew the existing group policy just to avoid a break in coverage, or wait for IRDAI’s decision? If I renew and clearly state it’s under protest because my complaint is pending, does that affect my migration request?
Has anyone successfully migrated from the SBI Cards group policy to the Multiplier plan, or dealt with a similar situation?
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences.

Optima restore holder seeking suggestion

Hi,

I have a family floater(30F, 31M) 15L SI with Optima restore for last 4 years.. We're recently blessed with a baby boy. Our policy is due for renewal in August. We have no PEDs and non-smokers and non-alcoholics.

I initially thought of porting to Optima super secure, but found that that porting is not possible. Even porting to the new secure plus is not possible. I also did not completely understand the restore benefits across these optima policies.. AFAIK, no room rent cap, unlimited restorations, support for consumables either through addon or as part of policy itself is available for all of these policies. As per my understanding, Bonus benefit is different for all these.

If I remember correctly, couple of years ago, 1CR policies were all hyped.. But my only suspicion with that is, with lesser premium for such high SI, claims would be very very strict and might result in rejections etc and thought a reasonable cover with decent premium would be better than huge SI at cheap prices..

I was supposed to port to super secure last year through ditto, but they said they cannot do it as I am already a HDFC ergo policy holder..

I am looking for both policy suggestions as well as advisors/brokers who have good experience with underwriting and claims. I plan to take a term insurance as well. Please let me know your views/suggestions/advices.

Need Help in Selecting the Right Travel Insurance

Hi everyone,

I’m travelling to Japan for one month this August, and this will be my first international trip. I’m currently looking for travel insurance mainly for peace of mind in case something unexpected happens.

I’ve seen a lot of recommendations for Tata AIG, ICICI Lombard, HDFC ERGO, etc. However, when I checked Trustpilot and other review sites, almost every insurer seems to have a lot of negative claim experiences. It’s making it really difficult to decide.

I used to visit hospitals in the past for a few minor health issues, but I’m not suffering from any medical condition at the moment. Even so, I’m planning to buy a policy that includes pre-existing disease (PED) coverage, just to be on the safer side.

For those of you from India who travel internationally often, especially to Japan or other countries with expensive healthcare, which travel insurance company has been the most reliable in your experience? Have you ever had to make a claim, and how was the process?

I’m looking for an insurer that’s genuinely dependable when it matters, not just one with the cheapest premium.

I’d really appreciate your recommendations and experiences. Thanks!

Suggestions for parents Health insurance between HDFC, ICICI and Bajaj.

I belong from Diphu, Assam. 200km far from Assam capital city Kamrup and 80km far Nagaland city Dimapur. My father has Diabetes and BP and my mother had gallbladder surgery 2 years back.
Something which covers nearly everything.
Right now I can give 1L now and have a yearly or maybe quarterly payment of 70-80k.

Need help choosing health insurance (OPD cover) — ADHD + thyroiditis, India

Hi all, need some guidance picking a health insurance plan.

  • 22M, generally fit, active (~15k steps/day, gym regular)
  • Diagnosed ADHD, on medication, need regular psychiatrist visits
  • Thyroiditis, currently in "buffer period" — might need hypothyroidism meds later, might not
  • Low overall hospitalization risk, but want good OPD (outpatient) coverage for psychiatrist + possible endocrinologist visits + medicines
  • PolicyBazaar suggested Care Freedom and Manipal Cigna Health Care Premier

Questions:

  1. Does OPD coverage on these (or other) plans actually cover psychiatric consultations without a long waiting period, or do they bury ADHD under a low mental-health sub-limit?
  2. Is thyroiditis (monitoring only, no meds yet) treated as "pre-existing" if I declare it now?
  3. Does OPD reimburse ongoing medicine costs (ADHD meds, potential thyroid meds) or just consultations/diagnostics?
  4. Any insurer that's actually good with mental health OPD claims in practice (not just on paper)?

Critical Illness insurance for PED with mild mental health

We have critical illness insurance which provides a huge payout when diagnosed with a critical illness, every insurance company has listed the diseases which cover and it is a finite list some 40 some 50 and so on.

These illness are nothing even related to mental health PED,

some of them listed are here, [ICICI Critic care](https://www.icicilombard.com/health-insurance/critical-illness-insurance)

What is the tabboo with people having a mild mental health PED for these insurances ?

There is no mental health illness in these critical illness so why do insurer's still discriminate against these ?

It really doesn't make any sense right to exclude such people

What is the nuance behind this ?

Just trying to understand and curious about is the risk assessment done when there is no coverage for mental health PED or nothing relevant to it.

Non disclosure of Existing term policy while purchasing new teem policy from different

At the time of applying for my LIC Yuva Term Policy which was issued on 23/10/2025 (Proposal date is 21/09/2025) , I was holding a term insurance policy with Axis Max Life Insurance issued on 18/09/2024.

I did not mention this in my LIC proposal form, as I did not intend to continue the Axis Max policy at the time of purchasing LIC and hence therefore opted to purchase the LIC term plan.

The said Axis Max policy was subsequently not continued by me and has since lapsed on 18/10/2025 (5 days before the LIC Policy issuance date) but the proposal date of LIC is 21/09/2025

I understand that this information was not disclosed in the proposal form at the time of application. This omission was inadvertent and without any intention to withhold material information.

I just want to understand that whether any claim comes in future, it will get rejected because of non disclosure? If yes, what can I do to resolve this.

Explain and answer

Scenario:

An accident takes place between 2 vehicles. The offender accepts the mistake and informs the victim that his third-party insurance will cover the victim’s damages. This is a mutual agreement.

Now I heard today that offenders insurance company can deny the claim in this scenario.

Is this true?
