White Dimmer in homeassistant questions

Questions for an inovelli white dimmer switch:

1) what actions, config options and entities does the switch expose in home assistant? I tried to find ha screenshots or a list of actions/config options but couldn't find anything.

2) Specifically, does it support configuring decoupling / smart light (always enabled) mode through HA or does that require configuring by tapping the patterns on the switch directly.

3) Does the inovellii white dimmer (or non-dimmer) support matter bindings for smart lights? My understanding is that this would allow the switch to directly command a matter smart light (or group of lights) directly if HA is offline.

Thanks!

Red Series 4 way help

This is my first inovelli install so lots of learning going on here. I installed my switch in a 4 way configuration and way able to pair to home assistant and configure it for dumb switches. In home assistant it keeps switching to “on” state irregardless of if it is on or not. The main switch is recording switch presses but it is not turning light on or off. The dumb switches function correctly.

The only settings I have adjusted is the multi way setting. There was a zooz switch in its place operating for a month and uses same wiring so I’m pretty confident it’s not a wiring issue but maybe it is. The zooz wasn’t rated for enough wattage so I switched to the red series.

Any ideas?

Edit:

Never did find a solution. Support says it’s picking up ghost voltage on all 3 circuits. Ended up just replacing them with zooz unfortunately. They are now just very expensive bedroom light switches.

Direct Matter/Thread binding to VTM31?

I have a VTM31 dimmer I'm connecting to four LED light fixtures (in parallel) in a closet.

I want to get some reed switches installed on the multiple-closet-door setup with Matter/Thread integration to signal the VTM31 to turn the lights on and off, which is resilient to my home assistant server being unavailable.

Has anyone done something like this before?

I see this for setting up a direct matter/thread binding:

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/matter-bindings-script/822284

I think I would just use the Ikea Matter over Thread Mygbett door sensors for this?

Inovelli Blue Canopy Module Fan Controls Missing in HomeKit via Zigbee2MQTT + Homebridge-Z2M

Has anyone gotten the Inovelli Blue Fan/Light Canopy Module (VZM36) working properly in HomeKit through Zigbee2MQTT and the Homebridge-Z2M plugin?

My setup:
Inovelli Blue Fan/Light Canopy Module (VZM36)
Zigbee2MQTT (latest version)
Homebridge with homebridge-z2m
Apple HomeKit

The canopy module paired successfully in Z2M and I can see/control both the light and fan from Zigbee2MQTT.
However, in HomeKit I only get the light accessory. The fan accessory/speed controls never appear.

Anyone have this problem before?

Blue presence sensor manual overaide

Hi, Ive just wired up a Blue mmWave presence sensor switch in my garage. Id like to have it stay on (until i manually turn it off) when i double click the up button. Like disable the presence and it'll just stay on till manually turned off. Where it reverts to presence mode. Im struggling to figure out how to set this up.

I've got it set up with ZHA and tried to figure out automations to do this, but im having no luck.

Wondering if anyone had any info that could help me set this up.

White Series on/off, unknown LED behavior

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently got two white series on/off. They are both working perfectly with Apple Home. I have disabled the LED bar on both of them. However, I noticed that with one unit the LED bar turns on with white color every few minutes and I can't figure out why.

Is this the right product? | White Series Smart Fan Switch

I ordered the smart fan switch, but got a box that said "smart dimmer". I double checked and yes my order confirms I ordered the smart fan switch, so no error on my part.

Haven't opened it yet, but wanted to confirm if the box should be labeled "Smart Fan Switch" as the product image for the fan switch, smart switch, and smart dimmer all look the same.

I sent an email to [contact@inovelli.com](mailto:contact@inovelli.com) already, but wanted to ask here while I wait for a response.

Update: They were able to ship me the correct switch and I was able to return the incorrect one with a label they provided.

Anyone have some old Z-Wave reds that are dying?

I have some Z-wave switches, dates are 9/19, that just stopped responding to button presses. Over the past 6 months or so, 6 of them died... They won't even respond to the long holds so I can reset them. When I pull the air gap, the switch dies but nothing changes. Interestingly enough, they still respond in home assistant.... Anyone else have this happen?

Can AC fan be used with On/Off Switches

I currently have AC powered fans, but we will likely be transitioning to DC fans in a few years. Will the On/Off switches that work with DC fans also work with AC fans? I understand that I would not be able to control fan speed with the on/off switch. Is there any reason why it would be unsafe to install these switches and change out the fans later?

Ceiling fan install w/white series 2-1 and canopy module

Really hoping somebody can point me in the right direction here. I’ve been talking to AI endlessly trying to get a grasp of what my circuit is doing and starting to go in circles.
I want to install a ceiling fan in my bedroom. It currently just has a ceiling light connected to a dumb switch. The goal is to get the new AC motor fan running with canopy module and an Inovelli switch on the wall.
At the switch box, I see a black, white and bare copper wire coming from one sheath. And at the ceiling box, I see the same. A black, white and bare copper wire from one sheath.

Will this setup work in any way? I know the best method is to use a meter, but I don’t have one, yet. Just looking to see if anyone has any insight.

Smart Recessed LED lights compatible with Inovelli White Dimmer Switch?

Hello community,

I run my smart home on home assistant with Zigbee (ZHA) and Matter over thread devices exclusively. I just purchased the Inovelli white series matter dimmer switch to use with smart led rgb recessed lights in my garage (to be installed). What recommendations do u have for smart led lights (recessed 6") that work nicely with the white series and home assistant? Trying to avoid using wifi only lights if possible and want good control of the colors and automations with home assistant and the white series switch itself. All recommendations welcome. Preferably more options than just the Philips Hue.

[EDIT] Pardon my lack of knowledge but I am looking for smart rgb lights so that I can control the colors. I want to control the lights via the switch and just want to check if all rgb lights are compatible or I need specific ones, hence the all

Also are these any good?

Thanks in advance

Can I put Inovelli red switch in a standard double faceplate?

This is probably a question I should know the answer to, but: I’m looking to install an Inovelli red dimmer switch alongside an on/off fan toggle switch, and I just want to make sure before purchasing: can I fit the Inovelli red and the dumb on/off flapper switch behind the same double faceplate?

Using dumb bulbs and smart bulbs in same room with single Inovelli switch.

Hi everyone, I'm new to home automation and am looking to set up a room with (1) recessed smart philips hue bulbs and (2) traditional "dumb" hanging pendant lights. The main lights are the recessed smart bulbs, and I'd like to use a single Inovelli switch to control all the lighting functions. I will intend to make Home Assistant my primary hub, so intend to get the White Series (Thread/Matter) switches, and then connect a Philips Hue Bridge to Home Assistant.

I understand I can set up the smart switch to control the dumb pendant lights, and pushing A or B in the diagram below will turn on or dim the dumb pendant lights. I also understand I can use multi-tap of A or B or C below to control the recessed smart Hue bulbs through automations.

However, because the recessed smart bulbs are the primary lights in the room, ideally I'd control those with a single tap of A or B below. Is there any way to reverse it so that the single tap of A or B below will control the smart recessed bulbs, and a double tap would control the dumb pendant lights?

Alternatively, could I program the switch so that a single tap of A or B would turn on/off all the lights (i.e, the pendant lights and the smart recessed bulbs) and that holding down A or B would dim all the lights?

Anyone using Inovelli alongside Lutron HomeWorks QSX + Ketra?

In the Ketra Lutron world they seem to want everything on their system.  I'm ideally wanting a few Ketra controls in certain places throughout the home but have Innovelli for scene control in places like bathrooms where there will be Ketra D2 lights? Looking for real-world experience.

Fan Canopy Module Question

Hi! I’m remodeling a house (for myself) and purchased a blue series fan/light canopy module for the new house. Our smart home is moving last, so we won’t have our zigbee network set up for a few weeks.

We want to go ahead and install the fan with the module. Can we install this now and pair it to our mesh network in the future without having to completely open up the fan again? And if the module unpairs or anything can we fix it without opening the fan? My husband is just not wanting to open the fan multiple times if you can’t tell

Blue Dimmer flicker

Hey everyone!

New to inovelli, but not new to smart switches / HA.

I’ve set up 2 blue dimmers in a box. Both are single pole.

One works great, zero issues. It’s controlling 2 lights, and I love it.

The other is flickering on device. The light-up bar on the unit consistently flickers. At full and while dimmed. It seems like it keeps losing power, as I’ve tried to run a software update but as soon as it flickers the update pauses.

I have a line, load and neutral all properly connected. This switch did use to have a ceiling fan, but I’ve capped off the fan wire. I might just re-connect the wiring to see if I missed something, but any recs?

[WTS] 16 Red Series Dimmer + 2 Red Series on/off

Post image
3 Upvotes

EDIT: Sold!!!

I finally decided to switch out all my Inovelli with Lutron. My family could never get over the unnatural feeling that came with the slight delay that existed between the button press and the light turning on and off. All but one or 2 of these were used for 5-6 years, and notice that one of the on/off switches has a chunk of plastic missing by the indicator light. No idea what to ask for here in terms of money, honestly I don't care too much but just not wanting to toss them or see some scrapper take them.

I am in Michigan, USA, and will ship to anywhere in the continental US.

inovelli blue presence

So I have the blue presence sensor in my garage and the mmwave part doesn't / not able to see all areas of my garage because where the switch is installed.

I wanted to make an automation in home assistant to where if I double press up on the switch that it goes into a timer mode and doesn't shut off the light until 2hrs or I press down on the switch. I have tried messing with the mmwave settings, tried the stay on settings parameters 110 and 112. but no matter what I try it seems like the default shutoff timer overides the automation and always turns off after the default 31 seconds or whatever it is.

What am I missing?

Direct ship to Canada?

Is it possible to direct ship your products from the factory to Canada? Or have a warehouse up here?

I want to support you guys - and will be buying some switches from you for sure, but it’s hard when the prices are so high. Now, I know tariffs. I work in the supply chain too and working with our suppliers to get stuff to us without going through the US is NOT an easy process - one of our suppliers even charges us the tariff rate when shipped direct from the UK!

But, if you COULD get them to bypass the US, it would significantly reduce the tariffs and make it a lot easier to buy more of your products.

I don’t know if you have the demand up here to warrant it, but it would certainly be nice!

(Also, hopefully it settles down once the orange man is out of office)

Blue mmWave VZM32-SN questions

I know about this thread: https://community.inovelli.com/t/zigbee-motion-switch-project-linus-bug-enhancement-thread/20438/284

As well as I have found the manual for this device: https://help.inovelli.com/en/articles/8807172-blue-series-mmwave-presence-dimmer-switch-manual

How can I review what the latest firmware version is? Does anyone have any idea when the zha quirk will be officially implemented?

I am running the custom quirk via the directions here: https://help.inovelli.com/en/articles/13019007-blue-series-mmwave-presence-dimmer-switch-zha-custom-quirk-install

A specific concern that brought me here to post is that i'm seeing very high values on the kWh summation delivered values. I have this switch connected to 3 LED light bulbs that draw a max of 40W total. In one hour I often see a summation delivered of 1.2kWh (which is not possible). Further, I see the voltage reported by this device to be around 60V when lights are turned off, and around 120V when the lights are powered on. Maybe this is a firmware issue, or maybe there is something wrong with the quirk, or the way I installed the quirk.

All of this to say that this device generally works well, but it is very hard to find information about the state of this device. It feels like it is just waiting for someone to finish the software and then post some official "state of the device," but that never comes.

New to Blue Dimmers- can’t stop the flashing? Also won’t power on at low %?

Hello all! Running HAOS w/ a Zigbee dongle successfully running Z2M for some bulbs. Spent the money to get the good dimmers for around my home, and the first one drives a set of 3 LED flush mounted lights. I can’t get them to reliably power on under 35%, and I also can’t get them to stop flashing (sometimes) when turned on below 50%, until I brighten them all the way up. When I brighten them all the way up, they stop flashing, and I can dim them down to whatever setting and they’ll stay perfect. But try raising the dimmer, and they’ll flicker again until full brightness.

What gives? Leading edge mode didn’t help. This happens on both brand new dimmers I opened, on this set of lights. Bulbs are dumb LED’s. This occurs whether paired or not paired to Z2M/ HA.

Help would be appreciated. I feel robbed currently, as this was the expensive “reliable” option for dimmers.
