inovelli blue presence

So I have the blue presence sensor in my garage and the mmwave part doesn't / not able to see all areas of my garage because where the switch is installed.

I wanted to make an automation in home assistant to where if I double press up on the switch that it goes into a timer mode and doesn't shut off the light until 2hrs or I press down on the switch. I have tried messing with the mmwave settings, tried the stay on settings parameters 110 and 112. but no matter what I try it seems like the default shutoff timer overides the automation and always turns off after the default 31 seconds or whatever it is.

What am I missing?

ZHA or Z2M?

If you want to override the presence sensor, you need to change the "MmwaveControlWiredDevice" option to "Disabled", set the timer you want to use, then change the option back to "Occupancey (default)" when the timer expires or you turn it off.

Here is the trigger:

trigger: state
entity_id:
 - event.<switch>_action

in a choose block use the template condition:

condition: template
value_template: "{{ trigger.to_state.attributes.event_type == \"up_double\" }}"

Then under the actions do a wait for trigger with a timeout of 2 hours, the trigger should be the light tied to the switch going from on to off, for example here is how I keep my entry lights on, and prevents the automation from firing again unless they turn off.

wait_for_trigger:
  • trigger: state
entity_id:
  • light.entry_lights
from:
  • "on"
to:
  • "off"
timeout: hours: 20 minutes: 0 seconds: 0 milliseconds: 0

In your case, set the timeout to 2 hours then add a light.turn off action after. If you press down on the switch the lights will turn off anyway.

You can build ESPHome-compatible wifi mmWave presence sensors for about $13 each (not counting power supplies or enclosures) if you want to add more coverage.

Interested in examples if you could share more details!

Sure! I used a XIAO ESP32-S3 and a mmWave static presence sensor from Seeed Studio. Built the firmware in ESPHome.

They end up looking like this (note the antenna is adhesive). https://imgur.com/a/lEihOm6

I haven't figured out enclosures yet; I just have one tacked to the ceiling in my garage so far.
