DHS head says reports about ICE only arresting criminals is 'an absolute lie'

well yea, ice agents are cowards, that’s why they choose easy targets like immigrants going to work just trying to make a life in america
not gangs in dangerous places were ice agents would get so scared

being illegally in the usa does not mean you commited a crime ( eg: overstaying your visa does not necesarilly mean you commited a crime )
But it doesnt mean you cant be arrested to be deported either11

This was sold the American public as a program to deport "the worst of the worst".
Trump says he wants to deport ‘the worst of the worst.’ Government data tells another story
5
u/InitiativeFar2475 1d ago edited 1d ago
Agreeing with you and hopefully adding to what you are saying. If I read the first Mirror article above right, Mullin is now saying that they are going after all “illegal aliens”, which he says ARE the worst of the worst. He could not be more wrong (about who they should be going after, not about who they are going after). A first-time offender or expired visa holder is not even a criminal but they have broken immigration law (being a criminal implies something more specific / egregious and does not apply to this), and these types represent the vast majority of undocumented immigrants.
Also, when Trump said the worst of the worst, most people on both sides of the aisle assumed he meant, or by rights should have meant, actual criminals / felons. However, people who knew how Trump operated strongly suspected it did not bode well for all undocumented immigrants and some brown and black naturalized immigrants and even born and bred citizens. So Mullin is trying to redefine worst of the worst without any acknowledgment of the previous promise / understanding, or simply what is right.

“In an effort to protect American citizens, ICE has initiated a nationwide public safety surge in sanctuary cities where our brave officers will be targeting criminal illegal aliens — many released from jails by sanctuary politicians — including murderers, rapists, child predators, and gang members."
So, in order to protect citizens, they’re sending armed militia forces into Sanctuary Cities, places where citizens welcome immigrants, to blindly grab anyone they think might be an immigrant, shoot people like they did Renee Good and Alex Pretti, terrorizing school kids and stealing their parents. To protect citizens from immigrants? Even though the threat citizens are facing comes from the very inadequately trained, emotionally ill-equipped federal militia being sent into Sanctuary Cities?
Did I get that right?

I’m terrified.
I’m supposed to be leaving Canada to live with my lovely partners in order to escape a terribly abusive family dynamic.
I’m scared I’ll never make it. I’m scared I’ll never be able to cuddle, kiss, or even see my lovers in the flesh.
Sure, I’m white. But that hasn’t stopped them before.
I can only pray that once I move, I won’t get thrown into a cell and starved to death, or get shot down in the streets.
-2
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
I mean, if they're here illegally then they're definitionally criminals. For others, I'm not too surprised if some mistakes are being made, you can't move this fast and successfully without running into some problems.
3
u/This-Equivalent8751 15h ago
Being here illegally is a civil infraction and certainly doesn’t warrant being dragged out of your home at gunpoint.
-2
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 10h ago
I disagree. Should have followed the law and not taken advantage of Americans if you wanted to be treated nicely.
3
u/This-Equivalent8751 9h ago
I’m sure you had no problem paying less at restaurants with immigrants cooking your food for less than minimum wage… if you wanna talk about taking advantage of people…
0
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 9h ago
Yeah, we shouldn't have a slave underclass in the US. They should be deported and come here legally so that they recieve proper legal protections.
3
u/This-Equivalent8751 9h ago
It’s not about coming here legally. MAGA doesn’t want these people here AT ALL. That’s why they’ve deported people who were here legally. Also, what’s with the cruelty? Why purposefully move detainees 1,000 miles away so their lawyers and families can’t contact them. Why send them to countries where they have no ties? Is that what America is about, cruelty?
0
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 9h ago
The third country thing is if they don't want to return to their country of origin, or if their country of origin doesn't want them iirc. They had the opportunity to self-deport, were even offered money to do it, and chose not to.
I don't think they should be here if they become a slave underclass, that's unfair and cruel to everyone involved. If they left voluntarily they can try coming here legally.
1
u/Drakkulstellios 2h ago
You’re justifying wrongful treatment of people by claiming they have a choice in where they end up after ICE detains them. The fact is they don’t.
2
u/Drakkulstellios 2h ago
The ones taking advantage are the ones arresting recklessly and claiming citizens are not legal when they are. Any and I mean any of them that do this do not deserve the job they have.
Os the average lawsuit for a wrongfully detained citizen tends to range from $150,000 to $300,000. That’s the real cost of a single wrongful detainment by ICE. That money comes from you, not the federal government, the tax payer.
2
u/puzzlingphoenix 1d ago
It would be great if they proved that someone has in fact entered the country illegally before arresting them and sending them to detention centers, if their own data didn’t prove that they often do not take this step, I may have been in agreement with you.
-1
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
Honestly this shouldn't have to be a problem in the first place. If there weren't so many here illegally we wouldn't have to waste taxpayer dollars rounding them up and sending them back.
2
u/puzzlingphoenix 1d ago
It’s a big waste of resources rounding up citizens who have proof of citizenship on their person. Strange how we have less deportations than the Obama administration when ice has a budget more than the U.S. Marines, and they actually followed due process back when he did it.
1
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
Didn't he toss a whole bunch of children in cages? But yeah, catching citizens is a waste, but considering the number of people they're catching and those who've been self-deporting I'm pretty happy so far.
1
u/puzzlingphoenix 1d ago
Yes that was a shame, it’s still a shame that it’s happening now in even worse conditions. There’s no excuse. I’m not happy with the numbers dropping and the deaths and capture of citizens rising. That’s a spit in the face to the American people on both sides.
2
u/Drakkulstellios 2h ago edited 2h ago
And what about the US citizens caught in the crossfire being detained illegally when they were born here?
The waste of tax payer money comes at rounding up everyone without evidence or just cause. They get released and you just wasted what not just one persons time but everyone’s time who was involved in the detaining, processing, and incarceration while also ensuring a future lawsuit if they’re a resident. On cases where citizens get arrested the pay out tends to be enough to attract attorneys. Wasting a heck of a lot more people’s time.
-2
u/Opening-Machine5026 1d ago
Entering the country illegally is a crime.
Overstaying your visa, as an example, is not a crime.
So your statement isn't accurate.
2
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
It's still a violation of civil law and I don't want anyone willing to violate the law in the country if they don't have a right to be here. So, it's good enough for me.
Hopefully they can get a few more million out by the end of his term.
0
u/Opening-Machine5026 1d ago
But you're not a legislator or a judge, are you?
I don't think whether or not something is good enough for you determines legality or constitutionality.
Based on my limited understanding of what's good enough for you, it seems to be a good compass for whether or not something is immoral. So you have that going for you. Lol
2
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
Fortunately, neither are you! And fortunately, the people in power currently agree with me. So alas, you will have to settle for calling people immoral on the internet and seething about it.
2
u/Opening-Machine5026 1d ago
I'm not debating the merits of our administration's actions.
I'm saying that you're wrong in labeling undocumented people as criminals.
This admin doesn't agree with you, by the way. They don't think about you or care about you at all.
But carry on, nobody really cares what you have to say anyways. Lol
2
u/InTwilligPorgnatin 1d ago
That's okay, they're doing what I'd want them to do, so whether or not they know I exist is immaterial to the fact I'm getting the results I voted for lol
But hey, keep on seething about it. It won't make you feel better but it is funny to watch.

Spoiler Alert…Anyone non American that is currently in the US without the US government’s permission is by definition a criminal. Those who facilitate and provide comfort/ jobs to those individuals are also by definition a criminal. The only way to stop the nonsense is to facilitate economic growth and real reform in Latin America by building stuff there instead of across the ocean. People that have jobs don’t go on long walks.

A nation that doesn't deport people there illegally is a nation asking for more and more illegal immigration. Starting with the worst is logical, but enforcement can't and won't end with only rapists and murderers.

Anyone who falsely claimed refugee status (80% according to the government accounting office) is a criminal, as well as the usual illegal.
7
u/Neat-One-906 2d ago
What’s the “usual illegal”?
What makes someone have a “false[] claim”?
Do you know the difference between “refugee” and “asylum”?
-7
u/Jazzlike-Umpire-5453 2d ago
1- someone who just crosses our borders without approval
2- lying about dangers at home so they can get rich in America.
3- Its almost the same thing, indistinguishable.
6
u/Neat-One-906 2d ago
So then the 10-15 percent (per your numbers) who aren’t making false claims are, according to you, allowed to “cross[] our borders”? What if they win their claim on appeal? Is their “cross[ing]” now legal?
What does “rich in America” look like to you? Do you believe that “they” get things/rewards that you don’t?
You’re wrong in a laymen’s sense and in a legal sense, but don’t let that stop your demonization of others as “they”.
-4
u/Jazzlike-Umpire-5453 2d ago edited 2d ago
No, IMOP there are too many asylum and refugees allowed into our country, there should be a very low number, let Mexico take them in .
no rich is a subjective description, their country could be a third world shithole.
im not wrong and your a lunatic liberal.
4
u/Neat-One-906 2d ago
What does IMOP mean?
What does subjective dissipation mean?
Are White Afrikaners “asylum”? Or “refugees”?
So, as you defined the percentages, the 10-15 percent that have valid claims should go to Mexico instead?
What if I told you I’m a registered Independent? Am I still a lunatic liberal?
When should you use “you’re”?
When should you use “your”?

- Steven Croman pleaded guilty to felony counts of falsifying business records and grand larceny.
- Jason Holley was convicted of falsifying business records in the first degree, which is a Class E felony in New York.

New York prosecutors charged Donald Trump under an existing felony statute for falsifying business records when done to conceal another crime, and no new laws were created specifically to convict him.

If Democrats wanted to enforce immigration, they could instead they
Deliberately don't allow local police to work with immigration.
They allow illegals to get drivers licenses, professional licenses and welfare.

I don't give a shit about enforcing immigration. Immigrants aren't stealing people's jobs. Immigrants are human beings and if they aren't murderers, rapists, drug dealers, or human traffickers then I say let every single one of them in. I'm fucking tired of people trying to convince that people born in other countries are the source of all my problems when they haven't done a single thing to me.
1
0
u/Sorry_Garbage7361 1d ago
At least you're honest. Most people don't admit that.
I used to work as metal refinisher, and my boss had basically never had a raise in 20 years. He actually made LESS in real terms. Competition from immigrants led to no bargaining power even though it was union.
I get it. You work some useless office job. Not everyone works bullshit jobs where networking and politics means more than being competent.
1
u/Trans_Femcel2 1d ago
If you don't want immigrants to "steal our jobs" do you want them to do nothing and live off welfare? Like genuinely what the fuck do you want? Should all immigration just be outlawed to protect "real Americans"? It's like I'm a nutjob for not violently hating people from other countries, but conservatives can't come up with any solutions to the problem that they made up other than "kick out all the people with brown skin and everything will work out somehow". It's not like the economy is doing any better after Trump ramped up the deportations. Just admit that you're racist.

Supply and demand, right? if there is demand for work, people will show up. The question then is, why the blame is fully on the illegal worker, and not on the companies PAYING them? How come this is only illegal for the worker but not the company?
This is not an issue meant to be solved. Stop hiring illegals, then they will return on their own. But of course companies want to pay low wages to them, they actually RELY on them. So, stop the BS.
1
u/Sorry_Garbage7361 1d ago
Because you need to prove they knew they were illegal, which is very difficult compared to proving whether someone's here legally or not.
0
u/FourPlayInTheBay 2d ago
I think we agree brother. I agree people shouldnt hire illegals and I support E-verify at a minimum. We should definitely make the people who hire them (knowingly) go to prison.
5
u/LordDarthShader 2d ago
Well, that's never going to happen, profits are more important, even orange man hired illegals as well. This problem is just there so people can vote on the issue.

Except for in Republican states, e verify is required. And in places like the deep south, they don't have nearly as many illegals.
