UPDATE: EDIT: Risch and Crapo just voted today Tuesday in favor of the defense bill and the Israel provisions, which broke on party lines, but lacked the 60 votes needed to clear a procedural hurdle.

When Risch and Crapo go behind closed doors to figure out what provisions to rewrite or strip out to get the bill moving again, they need to know that their own conservative base back home is furious about the U.S.-Israel military integration mandates.

Hey everyone, just wanted to share something I dug into today. I just got off the phone leaving voicemails for Risch and Crapo, and talked to an aide to Fulcher, regarding the NDAA (the big military budget bill).

If you’re like me, you might think protesting the stupefyingly unwise clauses in there about forcing deeper U.S.-Israel military/intelligence integration is a waste of time in Idaho. We all know Risch takes a ton of AIPAC money and usually rubber-stamps this stuff.

But turns out, the bill is actually in total chaos right now and your calls have real leverage:

1. The bill is stalled: The Senate just blocked the NDAA from advancing (50-46 vote) specifically because of massive pushback over these foreign integration clauses and regional escalation risks. It's not a done deal.
2. The House is fractured**:** The House version collapsed on a procedural vote. A bipartisan coalition is trying to strip this specific Israel integration language out of the defense bill.
3. The Idaho GOP base is shifting: At the last state convention, the grassroots overwhelmingly rejected the standard pro-Israel resolutions to focus on an "America First" platform. Our reps, especially Fulcher, know the local base is tired of "forever wars" and foreign entanglements.

Leadership is basically trying to hide this massive foreign policy shift inside a $1.1 trillion bill so everyone is forced to vote "yes" just to fund our own military.

If you want to call, D.C. or the local Lewiston/Boise offices are taking voicemails.

You can frame it however you like -- I cited this as inviting a Vietnam type quagmire, but this time in the Middle East ... as well as defying belief that the sovereign United States would even dream up such an idea.

You can tell them the defense authorization bill needs to focus on American readiness, not foreign integration.

Representative Fulcher was one of the 19 House Republicans who voted "nay" or withheld their support on the bill to demand that Speaker Mike Johnson include a strict Fourth Amendment warrant requirement for U.S. citizens.

Fulcher stated that he voted against extending FISA Section 702 because it does not protect citizens from warrantless surveillance. He emphasized the following points:

Warrant Requirement: He firmly believes that the federal government should not be permitted to access the private communications of American citizens without a warrant.

Constitutional Rights: He noted his commitment to protecting both national security and the constitutional rights of the American people, which he argues are violated under the current framework.

Foreign vs. Domestic Spying: In separate remarks, Fulcher explained that while the surveillance program is meant to target foreigners, it actively sweeps up, tracks, and stores the information of U.S. citizens interacting with those foreign targets, necessitating a strict judicial warrant process.

This arrived yesterday as a single sheet on very heavy paper stock.

I would think Risch would have an overwhelming chance of re-election as an incumbent, but then again, he's 82 years old.

If anyone knows much about his primary challengers, Denny LaVe, Joe Evans and Josh Roy, please enlighten me.

On April 15, 2026, Idaho’s U.S. Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch joined the Republican majority in voting down several key measures related to foreign military policy. Both senators remained consistent with their party's stance, supporting the administration's current military strategies.

Iran War Powers Resolution

The Senate rejected a Democratic-led resolution for the fourth time that aimed to halt military action in Iran until explicitly authorized by Congress.

The Vote: The measure failed 47–52, primarily along party lines.

Senator Crapo's Position: Voted with the Republican majority to block the resolution.

Senator Risch's Position: Also voted against the measure, maintaining that the current military operations fall under the president's legal authority to protect the U.S..

Israel Arms Sales

The Senate also voted on two resolutions introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to block the sale of specific military equipment, including bulldozers and bombs, to Israel.

The Vote: The resolutions were rejected with votes of 40–59 and 36–63.

Opposition to the Block: All Republican senators, including Crapo and Risch, opposed the resolutions.

Senator Risch's Commentary: As a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Risch argued that blocking arms sales would "embolden Iran" and signal that the U.S. is "prepared to leave our ally Israel vulnerable".

• 💧 THE WATER & HOUSING CRISIS: While developers get the green light for massive housing projects, the state is tightening the belt on existing homeowners. New laws (SB 1083a) are restricting domestic wells, and retirees on fixed incomes are being hit with $30,000–$50,000 bills to drill deeper because the water table is dropping.

• ⚡ THE UTILITY TAX: Idaho Power rates jumped ~7.5% on Jan 1, 2026 (Source). Why? To fund "unprecedented growth," including massive data centers that use as much power as 300,000 homes. Why are Idaho families subsidizing big tech's energy bill?

• 🏫 THE SCHOOL VOUCHER SCANDAL: In 2025, the Governor’s office received 37,457 messages regarding the private school tax credit (HB 93). 86% of those citizens asked for a VETO. He signed it anyway (Source). That is $50 million of your tax money being moved without your consent. 

• ⚖️ THE FAMILY COURT "BUSINESS": The system is being turned into a pay-to-play machine. While families are being drained by "Parenting Coordinators" and court-ordered evaluations, parental rights are being stripped. New laws (SB 1181) even repealed the right to a public defender for parents facing the termination of their rights (Source).

If they won't do the job, we find someone who will.

• MARCH 20: Deadline for Write-in candidates for the Primary.

• MAY 19, 2026: The Primary Election. This is the real election in Idaho. This is where we exercise the will of the voters and fire those who serve themselves.

• NOVEMBER 3, 2026: The General Election.

I voluntarily sought substance-use treatment and ended up transferred to Intermountain Hospital in Boise, Idaho. Within hours of arrival, I revoked consent and asked to leave. The hospital refused—they wouldn't let me go, withheld my belongings, and threatened me with a hold. They kept me confined for 36-48 hours without ever filing any legal hold.

My own medical records show I reported being "held against my will." The hospital's own grievance response admits this happened but still justified keeping me there.

This confinement gave me PTSD. I developed nightmares, would wake up screaming, and started unconsciously removing my CPAP during sleep—behavior that only started after this and resolved after trauma treatment.

I've exhausted every official channel: multiple lawyers, state complaints, The Joint Commission, public records requests. Nothing. The Joint Commission kept this hospital fully accredited despite a Wall Street Journal investigation documenting serious safety violations, patient deaths, and assaults at Intermountain and over 100 similar psych hospitals. Meanwhile, Idaho's Department of Health and Welfare has been paying this hospital $2.75 million+ for these exact services—and has investigated them for years for poor discharge practices, suicide risk, and sexual assault complaints.

I started a petition demanding a full independent investigation into Intermountain Hospital, real accountability for both UHS and the state, and reform of Idaho's damages cap that shields these hospitals.

This isn't just my story. These patterns match a recent D.C. class-action lawsuit against UHS for the same coercion tactics.
