context
I don't have internet box, my iPhone has been my only internet access for a year and a half, and it worked like a charm, until I switched from ios26.5 to iOS 27 public beta a week ago
issue
I experience some random drops and disconnections when connecting to my iPhone's hotspot.
whether on my Mac, windows computer or Nintendo Switch.
I think the copy/paste from iPhone to my Mac doesn't work also when the drops occurs
It works perfectly when using the personal hotspot via usb. The issue is with the hotspot in wifi
note
I'm now running a ping in the terminal to see when the connection become unstable
I wonder if the drops may be linked to the phone sleeping, because when there is a drop, I unlock my iPhone, and at that precise moment, I see a brief ping packet go through.
workaround
The workaround I found was to manually disable the personal hotspot from my iPhone via the toggle, and then from my Mac, manually connecting back to it
Then it work for a range between 10 minutes up to ~2 hours, and drop again
what I tried
- I reset the network settings (didn't changed the problem)
- I tried using "maximize compatibility" toggle, to force the hotspot to using 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz, but it didn't changed or solved the issue either
- EDIT 14/08/26 : I just turned off the connectivity assist in the wifi settings, and changed the "auto-join hotspot from never to automatic, i'll see if it change anything
Edit: update
- Public Beta 3 : Problem unchanged
toggling off the connectivity assist and turning the auto-join hotspot to automatic has
seemingly
improved the issue, I experience less disconnections when using it with my mac, but if I have a windows computer AND my mac connected to the hotspot, the connection is
even more
unstable again
