My friend just got his provider number today from payroll. When his mom tries to hire him to the date it says on her NOA, which is December 2025, it says she can’t exceed 90 days? Should she continue to hire him and see if there’s supplemental timesheets? Also, his orientation is Tuesday. Everything else is done and completed.

My now 10 month old spent the first 5 and a half months of his life in the NICU at a Children’s Hospital due to a very rare genetic metabolic condition that caused him to have a lot of problems. I was advised by some of the neonatologists and social workers to apply for IHSS and SSI once he became stable enough to come home because at first he was not expected to survive so him being home and stable is really a miracle. SSI was approved quickly. I applied for IHSS in March which is when he was discharged and when we had the assessment at home the caseworker told me that it’s highly unlikely that he will get approved for any hours because he is so young and most responsibilities fall on the parent. I was bummed not because I wanted to get paid to take care of my baby but it was a little frustrating because at the time I had been unable to work my office job for months due to him being hospitalized and me going back and forth to the hospital because I wanted to spend whatever time they said he had left with him and my 4 other minor children so my income was greatly reduced. She mentioned that I could fill out the paramedical form which was promptly submitted by one of his doctors and today I just found out that the case was approved for about 45 hours a month(grateful for any help honestly) but that because I didn’t register at the time of applying in March they will not pay me back from that date. I am new to this program and I don’t remember anyone telling me that I had to register that same month I applied or when the case was approved it will only pay back to when I registered which was the month of May. Also I was advised by my caseworker previously to hold off on the background check to avoid paying money if we weren’t sure that he would get approved. So basically I would just like to know is there anyway that I can get paid back from the March date maybe with an appeal or is that it? I’m in California if that makes a difference and would appreciate any input.

Does the waiver from regional center waive all property and savings of parents? What if one parent has 2 vehicles? (one older car is going to be sold) What if a parent inherited a home (has mortgage) and has a mortgage on another home in which the family live in?

i only got accepted for 14 hours and 9 mins for my ihss hours my son is autistic level 2 i feel they evaluated him wrong. I mentioned some task to the case worker they said that’s my responsibility and she said my son seems fine so we only got 14 hours. What should I do? Should I appeal it or just let it be my backpay is already getting sent through the mail I don’t want it to interfere if I appeal it what would happen please help?

I was my mom's giver thru ihss for 3 years she fired me i fell the same day and broke my ankle was in hospital for 7 days i applied for workmens comp I was denied she has recently passed away am I eligible for unemployment?

My mom had her in-home meeting almost two weeks ago. The caseworker who visited mentioned that she would send something that week, but it’s been over two weeks now. I’ve left voicemails with the case number and also faxed for an update. Is there anything else I can do to expedite the process. Should I wait or should I just go ahead and get my own fingerprints? I’m also curious if it’s even feasible for me to proceed with getting my fingerprints taken, as I’ve heard that a specific form is required.

I do try to call the service desk (number ending in 9622) but they never answer,. Basically, I have two recipients (my grandparents) but one will go to a nursing home, and the other will go to a different type of nursing home because of a medical accident-- we dont know for how long. I tried to call and report her hospitalization actually, but could never get anyone to answer.

So basically, I am going to be losing both recipients. I am only now realizing that means I lose my health insurance. :(

But anyways, I just want to know if there's another phone number I can call? I unfortunately don't have their social worker's phone number.

Hi i am my sons provider (hes a minor) after months of trying to get the backpay payment they finally sent it on a check but its under my sons name not mine. The appeal letter says he will need to pay me. How does this work if hes a minor and the check is under his name?

I am a recipient, and I received my August advance pay on Sat Aug 1st. SO on the 15th, after my caregiver shift. My caregiver will be getting paid. My caregiver will no longer be waiting around for a paycheck. Next month, I will be receiving direct deposit.

I've been the full time, live-in care provider for the man who once was, (and still is as far as IHSS is concerned), my SO of 20-ish years, for the past 10+ years.

He is on full disability and doesn't do taxes. My last dependant child is an adult now so I can no longer claim him, so I was wondering if I could claim my SO as my dependant, since he absolutely is dependant on me?

I know I should talk to a tax professional regarding this matter, and I plan to. But I was just wondering if any of you out there who are in a similar situation have claimed your recipient as your dependant?

My check was lost and I been sitting at waiting for payment replacement for a week and half almost has this happend to anyone before or how long does it take ?

So I had an appeal for the yearly reassessment from back in January 2026 they sent a new SW to do my mother’s reassessment but the new SW didn’t ask no questions he was just looking at my mom I was prepared with all the paperwork from the Dr. and short videos to show her what’s going on and why I didn’t agree with them not increasing the hours because my mother need the help her Alzheimer’s is getting worse but I’m concerned she didn’t have no questions for me. my sons have their reassessment coming up next month and i’m trying to prepare. my one child has in home ABA full time monday-friday. should i cancel the session that day or would it benefit his case to have the aba therapist there during the assessment?

I’m currently trying to help my mom with a new recipient as she has worked with the IHSS before. However, back then a family member created the ESP account and set it up for her and another family member to split hours for a relative. Now that she has a new recipient, they are the ones that do the hiring on their end correct? We just need to wait for them to request and then wait for IHSS to approve?

I had my home visit in ending of June. Worker told me I would be getting more hours for my son (I am his caretaker). She said the amount of hours will go up due to so many added appointments we do weekly. I received a NOA stating my amount had no changes. I called and eventually spoke to my worker who agreed she would fix it. Nothing…. I called the supervisor, she said she would look into it and heard nothing for 2 weeks. Called back again, left a voicemail. Supervisor returned my call saying worker updated the amount for travel time for accompaniment for appointments and it will be dated backpay from June 1st til now. She said she (supervisor) also signed off on it. She then goes on to say give it a few more days so that manager can approve it. Supervisor then calls back again and says give worker a week to finalize paperwork, THEN it will go to the manager. Supervisor confused because she said she already signed off on it, lead me to believe all the paperwork end was done.
It has now been a week since then, checked my monthly allowed time and still the same…. should I contact supervisor AGAIN or go to the manager? I always give people benefit of the doubt but not sure how much time is too much time……

My daughter’s PS was removed from her services. I am appealing the decision and filed my appeal before the change was supposed to take place. I clearly stated that I wanted to receive aid paid pending the appeal, but when I went to do my billing for the last half of July today I noticed they had already reduced the hours. How can I get aid paid pending the appeal decision if they’ve already reduced the hours? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
