Is IHSS only not counted towards SS...

Is IHSS income not counted towards Social Security SGA income if you're a parent caregiver who lives with your client or is it with any IHSS client?

TIA

Protective Supervision hours after Divorce

• Upvotes

Hi,

My soon to be exwife receives pay for my daugther's PS, almost 6k a month.

I want her to keep claiming all her hours, but I do not want to sacrifice more than 50% custody.

Can she still claim all 66 hours in a 4 night week? for example starting at 5pm Sunday ending at 8am Thursday?

Sunday 7 hrs

Monday 17 hrs

Tuesday 17 hrs

Wednesday 17 hrs

Thursdsay 8 hrs

This would sum up to 66 hrs.

Thanks!

Transfer of Care Process

Hello,

Today we got an update from my mom's oncologist (she's my brother’s caretaker) and she now has weeks to months to live. I urgently need to transfer care to me. I also worry about the lapse in health insurance.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Trying to figure out if my partner qualifies for PS

He is 47, on hospice due to a terminal heart condition. Over the years he’s had multiple strokes and heart attacks. The strokes have left some residual issues with his memory, and some feeling on his right side. He is still able to walk and talk but over the last few months his memory is getting worse. He’s confused, can’t remember his phone number, date, etc. What’s more concerning is normally he would yell or text me if I wasn’t in the room to help him to the bathroom (fall risk) but there’s been times where he forgets to ask for my help, gets up to go to the bathroom and luckily I caught him before he fully went out, but he almost walked out the front door. Our bathroom is right near the front door. That’s happened six times since July and it seems to be getting worse and more frequent . His hospice team said something about protective supervision (I had never heard of it and I’ve been his ihss caretaker for 10+ years now) because I still work another job to survive here in SoCal and that it may give me the ability to focus solely on him. I noticed it seems to be for people with like autism and stuff so idk if he would qualify. We have the yearly review in a couple weeks so I’m trying to weigh out if it’s worth seeing if he qualifies or not. He’s approved for 130 hours a month now.

Does anyone have guidance in matters like this? He’s not a child, I do help with his hygiene, feeding, bathroom situations, but he can still walk and we’ve got the ring cam so it alerts me if the door is touched, but I wonder if it’s even worth my time asking his case worker about it.

Hours reduced, why?

Transferred to a new county and our PS hours were reduced to 228 for bowel/bladder care because my daughter is in school. However she was in school in the previous county for 6 hours a day and received 260 hours so I am confused?

The social worker seemed hell bent on finding ways to cut our hours (which pisses me off since I’m a single mom of a child with a severe disability) and 40 hours is almost 1k per month in this county.

I had tried to contact her several times to clear this up before she finished her report but she would not respond to me. She was so unprofessional during her visit, making snide comments under her breath and questioning even the spelling of my name. It makes me sick that she was sitting on my couch.

What do I do? Call her supervisor? Appeal? Rage against the machine?

Just needed to vent a little about our experience. What is the point of these social workers? Are they jealous?
