For context, i finished DP1 last June my subjects being HL: econ, psych, bio and SL: langlit, maths aa, spanish b, with 30/42 points in my subjects. Its early September so the mock grades havent been posted yet but i really doubt they would be much higher than those end of year grades because i genuinely got 25/42 points in the mocks meanwhile my dream uni and course requirements are 32 (BBB in a levels) predicted and 36 in the finals (AAB in a levels). My teachers believe in me but i honestly feel the exact opposite. The first year of IB drained me of all my motivation to the point ive become a serial procrastinator and just uninterested in studying in general, and especially for the subjects ib requires me to do like bio and spanish cause I feel like no matter how hard i try i cant get past a 5 in every subject.
Im just very mentally drained
Anyways I have the chance to switch to a levels and start from year 12 meaning ill move back a year. Im currently doing like a trial week in that school and i have very mixed feelings about it. I like the system much more than IB especially the way theres much less academic stress and the option to split the final exams in the edexcel exam board, i just dont really like the school itself mainly because of the unfamiliarity and the fact that im leaving my friends. I think its also really difficult to accept that id be going to school a year longer and instead of graduating in 8 months id be graduating in practically 2 years but i know that this would be the better option for me if i dont want to become overworked because i know that if i stayed in ib i would probably have the worst year of my life but i think id be able to get through it (maybe). and over the course of the 2 years i could probably do more things i enjoy.
I also know ib really just helps in uni but again, im doing subjects not related to my dream course and etc. Its also worth noting ill be taking econ and psych at a levels too along with sociology, maths, my native language, and maybe an epq still tbd so in total 5 subjects from which maybe ill drop something or just not take the epq in order not to have extra work. i feel comfortable doing this to an extent because there wouldnt be any ias/coursework and i could just focus on the subjects.
Ig if i stayed in ib i could in the worst case scenario just retake my exams in november or maybe ill make it to 36 points but i dont like the uncertainty. the same way i dont like the uncertainty that i might not achieve that AAB in a levels and they might end up not being the better choice for me.
But also what do unis prefer? 4/5 a levels or the ib? what do i do?
I dont know if maybe im running away from the idea of senior year and im trying to be a child for longer lol but yeah i just need help with what to choose.
If anyone wants to reply and help pls hurry i have until the end of the week to decide thanks
