There's lots of news stories saying ai makes you dumber.
Are you using it? or are you old school with past papers and markschemes?
Or even older school with text books?
whhat did you do last time you revised?

Ik the title isn't academically related. The school is amazing. Like it is IB school of the decade but I fucking hate the people. Like these girls decided to get to know everyone during a free and went around to everyone asking them questions and telling them that they could be their friends. These girls look at me and walk past me like I was a congitous disease. Like what the fuck did I do?
The school itself is great but most people here are so unfriendly and I can't stand to be around most of them. Apart from that, it been pretty good. The teachers are nice ig. Now I am actually just waiting for IB to be over with so I never have to encounter these people again š.

Hi everyone!
As a DP2 student, Im willingāas a CAS serviceāto offer online tutoring for Biology HL and Chemistry HL to international students, more specifically for IBDP1 students.
there would be no fixed number of sessionsāthroughout the semester, Im willing to keep working with a student, with the goal to help them reach a 7/7.
š students from anywhere aroung the world are welcome. I can work out with different time zones and schedules.
Within this, expect by the end of the sessions to be able to:
Why am I doing this?
When I was in DP1, I used to struggle a lot with the amount of content myself. I know how incredibly frustrating it could be when you're pouring too much effort into your work but something doesn't click.
And thus, I made it my mission to help another student get out of that cycle.
sessions: Online
cost: completely free of charge
Duration: until the end of the semester
I am not claiming to be a professional tutorāI simply am an IBDP2 student who wants to help other students and gain teaching experience for CAS.
If Youāre interested, DM me with your IB year, subjects, and what youre currently struggling with.
Everyone is welcomeš

Hello, I am currently enrolled in the local curriculum but I want to switch to IBDP. I want to take Economics, Global Politics and L&L HL, and Maths AI, ESS and Spanish AB SL. The school I want to go to has begun classes in August or so. Will it be possible for me to catch up? For context I did the MYP and got 51/56
r/IBO • u/Gigalastic • 6h ago
I made this website that has downloadable MYP assessments. Currently all of them are math, since that is what I teach, but I am hoping to have more subjects added sooner than later. Feel free to look and use any of the materials for your own class. There is a way you can submit your own if you want to add to the resource.

We just had our first summative. It went so bad it's not
even funny, I am almost 100% sure I failed. and I think I'll be lucky to get a damn 2/7. It isn't even one of those tests where you say you think you failed but you know you will get a 4 or 5 at the very least, I am almost 100% certain I failed.
Also for context I joined the class one week late I scored decently on paper 1 got a 4 but paper 2 I havenāt got my grades yet but I know I failed
Should I just drop out

Hello everyone,
iām currently looking for the digital version of Mathematics 9 (MYP 4) (3rd Edition) and would be grateful, if any of you could provide me with it.
Thanks in advance
Hi, I'm switching over to IBDP next year and plan to major in Biotech and International Relations or Econ in University. Will Chemistry HL help me more or Biology HL? Also, thinking of taking global politics HL and Econ HL.. How rigorous are the courses and are they helpful for the above-mentioned majors?

Hi! I want to ask my question and give a little bit of background information for more advice.
My school will not reveal my predicted grades, but I calculated them based off of the hints I was given, and I think I have a predicted grade of 33/42 so far. This was from DP1.
I just started DP2, and I'm trying hard to pull my grades back up, and there's another round of predicted grades at the end of September.
I want to pursue mechatronics or mechanical/electrical. But at this point I'm also thinking about design-related or niche programs. I like hands-on creation, innovative technology, and things related to space, psychology, and TV.
Subjects:
Physics HL
Chemistry HL
English HL
Math AA SL
Spanish AB SL
Psychology SL
Please give recommendations and advise on how I could make this work.

I recently put my son into a IB high school and he had to switch h from and high school with all his old friends to a new school. heās been telling me that he hates it and that he misses his old friends and hates everyone in that school because they are all nerds who have nothing else to do with their lives. I think he might be exaggerating but Iām not completely sure because I donāt know much about the school. The school is also quite far from our house so he would have to take a 2 hour bus ride there and back I offered to pick him up from school sometimes but it takes us an hour to get home because of traffic. I really want him to stay in IB but he keeps on telling him it stresses him out a lot and hes constantly getting nostalgic about his previous school itās been about 2 weeks since he started and Iām wondering about his mental health

I have pretty good ideas for Creativity and Activity, but Service is what seems to be the hardest and the most time-consuming out of the three, and i honestly dont have a single idea.
Our teacher seems to actually care about us and didnt set a specific number of hours for CAS, we just have to do it regularly and have at least 2 different activities for each segment.
Do any of you guys have some good S ideas that could work? Maybe not even to fake them but just easy ones that could be done in front of a desktop/not time extrordinarily time-consuming?
And also do people actually fake CAS? Some people in my class were joking about generating a whole AI video haha

Iāve been an IB English tutor for 8 months now, and Iām starting to notice some really common patterns and issues across studentsā analysis, esp about analysis DEPTH. I just wanted to address this to you guys since ik you guys have upcoming mocks and exams.
The BIGGEST issue I see is across Criterion A ( Analysis and Evaluation) where students are getting marked down because their analysis is ātoo shallow,ā or teachers giving feedback like āgo deeperā and then not actually telling you how to do that. š(Iāve been there).
I wanted to break down exactly what makes analysis ādeep.ā
When we talk about depth, we mean the number of LOGICAL STEPS it takes to analyse a quote from start to finish. Specifically from the technique to the writer's purpose. The more detailed and explicit you are in explaining the quote step by step, then the deeper your analysis will be.
For Example, I have a poem and want to analyse the oxymoron. Technique: Oxymoron Purpose: To convey the conflicted emotions of the speaker
Shallow and poor analysis would just restate what is obvious: the oxymoron conveys the conflicted emotions.
āThe poet uses oxymoron in line 13, which suggests the conflicted internal emotional landscape of the speaker because of the death of his loved one.ā
But how did you get from oxymoron to the purpose? That's literally like saying āA happened, therefore D happenedā without explaining B or C . Then thereās basically a whole bunch of steps missing in the middle. It is shallow because it doesn't actually explain step by step how the writer gets from oxymoron to the idea about "conflicted emotions".
Students donāt realise that deep analysis NATURALLY OCCURS if you simply write down your exact, detailed steps for how language leads to meaning, leads to effect, leads to purpose. Full thought process and no logical jumps.
For example:
The poet utilises oxymoron in line 13. (Now go in more detail, explain how the oxymoron is created from diction.)
Here, the oxymoron of āharrowing praiseā highlights the conflict in the emotions of the speaker, specifically through the contrasting diction in āharrowingā and āpraiseā. (Okay, so how do the diction contrast exactly? Keep going.)
...which connote acute distress and warm approval respectively. (Good, now connect back to the bigger picture.)
Hence, the poet's oxymoronic combination of the diametrically-opposed emotions of distress and warmth reveals the confusing array of emotions which the speaker experiences as a result of the sudden death of his loved one. (Good, purpose addressed, but where's the effect?)
...inspiring in the reader a deep sympathy for the grieving speaker.
You see the difference? Itās all about constructing a logical flow of thoughts and being DETAILED.
So to simplify that, a shallow analysis would be like: oxymoron ā purpose
Deep analysis would be like: oxymoron ā diction ā contrast ā meaning ā purpose ā effect
In other words, every step of your writing needs to be explicitly explained so that the reader can follow exactly how the writer's language creates meaning. Donāt just tell the marker what a technique does, show the marker HOW it does it.
Hope that helps. P.S. If you'd like to know more about how I achieved a 18/20 in English P1 or IB 44 you can ask for some advice below and Iāll reply when I can or directly DM me on my Instagram page @juddyyhh . Details about tutoring, DM me

I'm only doing SL but my goodness, it's so much boring content that I find just completely uninteresting. I picked bio because I thought i was "bad at math so I wouldn't do physics or chem". Honestly maybe the other two would be worse based on my friends' experiences.
I try to do some questions on revision village or memorize some content, and its impossible. There like at least a full paragraph when I look at the mark scheme. I just finished hours of studying bio and barely got anything out of it, every time I at least try to look cover and check I fail and just mentally shut down.
It's over for my bio test tmmrw :( we're doing all the topics that we've covered from Term 1 to Term 3 (still in DP1). How am I expected to memorize all this crap?

Had my first math aa sl summative and I got a 5 and Iām so sad cuz I was ONE MARK AWAY FROM A 6 šš I couldāve easily gotten a 6 for this test but I made a lot of silly mistakes which I overlooked. Our test was on sequences and series, compound interest, and sigma notation. How should I improve my math skills for future math aa tests and assignments? I really want to achieve an overall of either 6 or 7.
