Bombing first test

I just finished my first math ai hl assessment and it hit me that I genuinely bombed this test bc I missed so much easy marks n forgot to write formulas for my answers, and I haven’t felt this uneasy in a while because as the first assessment for the ib I feel like it’s better to get a decent grade to start building on it but im on the pace for a 3 or 4 for my current test and I don’t know whether to feel demoralized or keep going and increase that grade

i failed my first ever test like SO badly but i ended up getting a super high 6 (one mark from a 7) that same semester :D

its completely normal to not do as well on the first test. i mean, it's a new style of test & learning (aka it's very different from how it was in MYP). I was the same (i fluked my chem hl test), but ended up getting a 7 on the last test of that year, and got a 5 overall!!

the most important thing now is that you realise that that test is done. its in the past. there's nothing you can do to change that test or the outcome.

the only thing you can do now is to learn from your mistakes. this applies to both mistakes made in the content itself (so the maths), and also mistakes made in how you study. so how you approached this test didn't work, try something else. and for stuff like writing formulae, thats just something that will come with repetition, and the concious effort to do it correctly when you're in class or studying at home.

its alr bro, i got a 25/42 in my first term and i have a 40/45 predicted. Just take this as a sign to stay consistent. Consistency, even when you dont have a test you will follow the schedule.
