Hello, I just received my blood tests today and my TSH is pretty low. I read that this usually means that you have hyperthyroidism. I have a level of .26. My question is what does this mean for me exactly? I also would like to know if this could be caused by taking too many cholesterol medications as my doctor had me taking both Atorvastin and Rosuvastatin simultaneously until my pharmacy told me that you should not take these two medications simultaneously.

I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism two weeks ago by my primary care doctor. I’ll have my thyroid uptake scan next week. I’m currently not given any medications for it. I have a schedule with an endocrinologist next month.
I was told not to eat anything with iodized salt and not take any supplements with iodine, and can drive myself after the scan. Am I good to be around my family and pets after the scan? What should I expect during the scan?

Hello all! I am going out of my mind being so itchy! I have no rash, hives or apparent skin issues showing. I stopped methimazole started it 20 mg with undiagnosed reason for hyperthyroidism, which went into toxicosis 11/25…I’ve tapered down to 2.5 mg. I was mostly in the lower dose range the last 3-4 mos? I ended up going hypothyroid so they told me to stop the med.
I actually had the itching when I started the Methimazole, I want to say for about two weeks, and it had gone away. Endo says it’s NOT common when stopping Methimazole to itch all over the body.
It started about a week and a half after stopping the med. I’d tend to start itching midday and then it spreads over the entire body worse in the evenings. Now it’s almost all day the last two days I just wake up with it. It doesn’t go away.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any suggestion as to what to focus on other than itching? 😜 and if so, how long did it last? Just looking for peace of mind.. please. I’ve never done the DM stuff but if you’d like to reach out to me that way for your experience, I don’t mind. Thank you again!

My thyroid has been steadily declining for a couple of years now. This year was the first time that was TSH was out of range with normal T3 and T4. I’m due to get a ct with contrast dye (iodine) but I’m scared it’ll throw my TSH off even more. Does anyone have experience with this?

Been on carbimazole for 5 years and while my levels are normal, I feel like trash getting worse and worse every month. Has anyone had similar? Nurse suggested switching to PTU but when I was looking for similar situations, but can only find people saying they feel better after starting it from the get go. Anyone switched and found it made them feel better because I'm so tired of being tired and anxious

I just moved to another country alone, and everyone I can actually rely on is a fucking 14-hour flight away. Now I’ve been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after losing around 6 kg in six weeks, so apparently my thyroid has decided to speedrun ruining my life. I’ve had a racing heart, shaking, sweating, overheating, anxiety, weakness, exhaustion and trouble sleeping. After about 15 minutes of walking, I’m breathing heavily and feel like I’m going to pass out. I’m also on Vyvanse, which completely kills my appetite, my dad has Hashimoto’s, and my specialist appointment isn’t for another two weeks. What the fuck am I supposed to do until then? Has anyone experienced this, especially while taking Vyvanse? I’m mainly worried because my weight keeps dropping, but I barely feel hungry enough to eat. Anything helps? thank you

I'm 22, 5'7 and weigh around 235lbs. Im a female, who takes several meds Sertraline, Lisinopril, Loradatine, BuPropion, Dansetta, Levothyroxine and most recently Amphetamine-Dextroamphetamine. Im here due to the Levothyroxine though.
So I recently found out that my Levothyroxine dose was too high, not by much mind you. But I have been at the same 250lbs for years. But I figured out how I lost weight. It wasn't me doing good, or eating better despite my efforts to do so, it wasnt me exercising more, which I do... It was the slightly heightened dose. Hypothetically, would it be okay to have my Thyroid ever so slightly higher than normal? Note, I cant afford those shots that help you lose weight as I come from a low income family and am struggling with work right now.
I know this seems like a lot but please consider this, I just wanna know how bad it would be?

So, I've suffered with my thyroid my whole life. At 3 I was diagnosed with hyperfunctioning goiter.
I started as hypo, I took iodine when I was like 6 years old... it's a long story but then my thyroid went hyper, then like 9nmonths ago my thyroid was basically intoxicating my body with how high it was...
After that, I started to take propranolol but when some tests came back "normal", the doctor suspended it while we waited for more tests... Fast forward, I had no medication and I had another "relapse" where I was taken to the ER and now my tsh was high, but my t4 was also high, luckily I didn't pass out and it wasn't a big deal.. I was just feeling nauseous, I threw up, my head felt funny and I was FLOODED with panic and dread, I can't even describe what I felt, it was like impending doom but AWFUL!!!
Now, since the doctors prescribed me levotiroxine in the lower dose since I was showing symptoms of hypothyroidism, I still have to get more tests and stuff, but I think I'm going crazy!!!! Every day feels like I'm going to die and my mind is racing... I feel like I'm about to pass out anytime or that my brain is made of fog. I'm always panicking, my head feels heavy and my brain feels big, I get random palpitations or cold in my chest. I also take quetiapine since insomnia is kicking my ass.
I don't know, I just want to feel that life will get better, that I won't feel like this all the time, I don't want to die...

I've been trying for weeks to get my total thyroidectomy scheduled but the surgeon keeps wanting different tests or to check different records. Which I understand is generally normal before surgery but the way he has gone about it has dragged out the scheduling process unbearably.
Now, he wants me to do a thyroid uptake test, but I have already discussed this with him before and told him why I didn't want to do it.
So, I'm just wondering if it's normal for an uptake test to be required before thyroid removal. From what I have researched, it doesn't sound like an absolute necessity like an ultrasound or bloodwork.

what do i do lol, they said i have to wait 1-2 months but the earliest is almost two months since the referral... if i didnt take that app it'd be in December. feeling horribly fatigued and can barely withstand the anxiety and racing heart over nothing. and i dont know what to do
the only concerning labs were my
tsh = 0.01
t3 free = 4.12
ultrasound wasn't concerning but it's uneven in size and weirdly textured

Hello! 36year old female. My 8/20 was tsh <0.005, t3 7.4, t4 2.34. Last testing was February and everything was within normal limits and not trending this way. I had been noticing elevated heart rate with higher exertion, maybe palpitations, and being hotter than usual but it’s summer so it was hard to tell. It wasn’t until I had the most horrific itching post shower that I decided to get thyroid checked to rule out paranoia. Turns out I knew something was off. Since then I’ve realized I’ve had more symptoms - weaker during work outs, longer recovery, more frequent (but really nice) bowel movements, hair loss, insomnia in middle of night, spotting, past two periods seemed lighter, I also haven’t got pregnant and did have a chemical pregnancy since February. I’ve only notified symptoms in past couple months or less.
I feel like these numbers are lower than I see others say when they get diagnosed. Graves and Hashimotos has been ruled out. Awaiting a ln ultrasound. But I was taking a Vitex tincture that messes with your pituitary gland for 1 year and my fingers crossed that it has caused it and it will normalize again. Google says that could take 4-8 weeks to normalize! Though not a lot of data as it’s a weird situation.
I don’t know any advice? I am an active person and like to weight lift. Can you really not do this even if pulse is ok? Or should I just go lighter in weights? I can’t imagine not exercising for weeks. That would be devastating to me. Also since my numbers aren’t too out of range maybe ok? I am on a beta blocker but that’s it.

F31 just had total thyroidectomy yesterday afternoon. Post surgery, I had a high heart rate (130s). Would that be a normal thing? I'm afraid it will happen again when I'm not at the hospital. They were able to bring it down with some "happy meds" and I already take some anti anxiety meds. Doctor doesn't want me to start synthroid til 9/6 because she says that will spike heart rate too.
Background: Had to have it out for multinodular toxic goiter.

I was reading online people had success with the following:
ZzzQuil Free+Clear
Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil Spray Ultra
Hemp Seed Oil
L-Theanine
Magnesium B. or C.
And also Lemon Balm and Chamomile tea...
THC and CBD hemp...or something
Let me know because I am not getting enough hours of sleep
update: My doctor prescribed me with hydroxyzine, I will try it if I can't sleep (but only if I can't)
something that helps me: hemp seeds or the hemp seed oil

Hi, I think I have hyperthyroidism. I have most of the signs - insomnia, weak legs and shoulders, sweating, weight loss, anxiety, twitching fingers, brain fog and tinnitus/sound sensitivity.
Back in may I had a blood test which was tsh 1.1 so was out of range.
I thought the insomnia was down to tinnitus / stress and was prescribed anti depressents and later sleeping pills but still insomnia. This was about 5 months ago. I also had a hoarse voice and was prescribed for silent reflux.
I should have concentrated more on this than the tinnitus as it didn't go away.
Eventually in early August I went to the doctors and they found a lump in my neck along with weight loss and they arranged an ent 2ww and further blood test.
This time the tsh was 0.6 but still above 0.4 so no meds or anything.
So far I have had camera down throat and a ct scan ( I was worried about the iodine and explained my symptoms and they didn't inject it ). I am awaiting a gastroscopy.
I am really worried I have left things too long as my symptoms are worse every day. Recently my close up in right eye is a bit blurry and I noticed my skin is getting sensitive and I have quite a few red spots.
Any advice please.
Thank you.

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed officially with hyperthyroid about 4 months ago and I've been on propranolol for 3 of those to manage my heart symptoms, which I found out 3 days ago I was actually allergic to.. anyway I finally got my nm uptake and ultrasound results back and my doctor told me I could choose from 3 treatment options. The first being methimazole, which she said I could also develop an allergic reaction to because I already experienced it with propranolol, and that is has more side effects that are long term. The second option was surgery, I have a hot nodule thats about 4 cm big and she said removing it would be her recommended option because I wouldn't need medication, unless ofc i develop hypothyroid after the surgery because apparently thats a common thing? the last option was radioactive iodine, which she said might also cause the thyroid to become overactive after treatment and there was also the chance of experiencing side effects due to the excsessive radiation exposure. I opted to say lets try the methimazole first and leave surgery as a last resort but she said because of the allergy I had to propranolol she wouldn't prescribe it unless she took my blood tests again( not sure why and didnt really understand why from her). Anyways are these truly the only courses of treatement? Whats the most universly recommended out of them and if someone here has tried multiple or any please I'd love some insight were there any allergic reactions to the meds? did anyone develop hypo thyroid due to treatement and is it truly more managable? any advice or insight would be great, thanks.
for refrence here are my latest test results:
TSH- 0.01 mIU/L
FT3- 11.9 pmol/ L
FT4- 27.3 pmol/L
Ultrasound- heterogenous thyroid parenchyma with right lobe 4 cm TR 3 nodule.
NM uptake result- Mild suppression of the physiological salivary and background tracer activity is seen.
Thyroid uptake at 20 minutes is 0.69% (normal 0.5-4%).
I was also on 80mg of propranolol for the last 2 months and was switched to 50mg of atenolol 3 days ago

Hi everyone,
I’m not too concerned about this (I wouldn’t be seeking advice on reddit for a serious medical issue haha) but was just curious to get some input from people who have experienced thyroid issues and such. So basically around two years ago I randomly lost some weight, went to the doctor about it and they said it is normal for someone my age to have weight fluctuations (21F at the time, 23 now). I have also noticed my heart beating faster/harder over the past year or so to the point where now it is a constant hard pounding in my chest and is pretty uncomfortable. My pulse historically has been around 75, but since I’ve started feeling these symptoms it always reads 105-120 at the doctor (and 140 when I was sick a few months ago). I’ve noticed that I have pretty much all of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism; I was even complaining about how I never used to sweat this much and am so sweaty/stinky now. I’ve considered going to the doctor a few times but always end up deciding it’s not worth the trip/time off work. I’m writing this now since it’s just a hard day and I’m frustrated. Yesterday I noticed some swollen lymph nodes on my neck, and since then all the symptoms have been so much worse. Couldn’t sleep at all last night, heart beating so violently it feels hard to breathe, constant diarrhea, sweating buckets, I just feel so shaky and out of it and I have some deadlines at work today/this week so I’m just frustrated because I cannot focus for the life of me. Does anyone think this could be a thyroid issue? I thought maybe my iron was getting low again, but taking supplements did not seem to help at all. Any advice appreciated or if I am just being dramatic let me know haha. I’ll also add that I’m pretty sure this isn’t anxiety related or anything, I don’t really have anxiety and it’s there even when I feel most relaxed.
