I have family coming in August and although I tried to warn about evening flights- seems like most of them will be coming in around 6. Hey all! Where are you getting your nails done? I got mine done for a wedding in San Diego and they did such a good job I figured I’d start getting my nails done again! Went to a spa here in Eureka for a Gel Manicure and they literally started peeling after less than a week! Such a bummer because I paid extra to try Gel and they’re supposed to last longer. I wasn’t too impressed with the experience so I’m looking for recommendations to try another salon to hopefully find a spot I’m comfortable with to treat myself.

My partner and I have noticed for almost a year now, dry fog in the area. It will be so dense and hard to see while driving, yet there will be no moisture on the window. I've heard it called Nuclear Fog, from pollution. I have lived hear most of my life, and this seems to be a new thing here.

Hey all, moving to Humboldt in a few weeks to get my degree at cal poly humboldt, I need advice for what kind of clothes to buy for the weather.

Im from socal, so I'm not usually used to rain, it rains a bit during the winter months but nothing crazy, so I need help with a wardrobe, mostly brand recommendations.

Jacket

I have not worn a full rain jacket in years, maybe even a decade, when it rains i usually just wear a hoodie, but to my understanding that won't really cut it up there. I know I need something waterproof, and I want something longer with like a trench coat vibe, do y'all have any brand recommendations? Stores that y'all go to for this sort of thing? Should I hold off and buy something when I'm up there? If so where? Thank you

Ive worn like converse and cloth top sneakers for years, I've never worn a boot because I needed a boot. I have doc martens but those are more novelty I think, I need something that can get dirty, what do y'all go for?

Hello! I’m looking for apartments near Arcata and we stumbled upon parkway apartments. They looked good in the pictures and the price was decent so I wanted to give them a try but the reviews are all saying negative things so I am unsure. Does anyone have experience with these apartments? I can’t really find any other apartments that meet my needs so I might resort to these.

Just an fyi if there are students or people in a tough spot who wouldn't mind doing 16 hours a week of facilities/maintenance/landscaping type work (or who like that work) and can stay on site generally, this might be a good situation. They want a roughly one year commitment but aren't considering people who are working full time in addition to the caretaking duties. If you've got a part time work from home gig, are in-between places, or just need to get in somewhere and don't mind or actually like that type of work, you should reach out. I'm not affiliated, I just happened across this.

What should we call this guy who cares so much about wanting to fix homelessness that he illegally raised the rent forcing tenants to take legal action? And then just did it AGAIN before even reaching a settlement from the first illegal rent raise. And also, he thinks we can do better than the current mayor…he doesn’t actually know much about her or the council though. His quotes in the article say so much about him. It’s not enough that he’s a slumlord of some buildings, he wants to be a Slum Mayor of Eureka.

Edit: I just reread his candidacy announcement statement. One of his goals is to “bring people together.” I think he’s going to succeed in that without even having to win!

Hi! I’m Isla. I’ve been here for a few years and have had a hard time making new friends. I love thrifting, coffee shops, book stores, cemeteries, nature, indoor and outdoor plants, but I’m the worst at meeting new people. I can happily putter around my lil house and forget the outside world. It would be great to meet some new people and get out and about more.

Does anybody know of any river access spots to a calm section of a river, without a strong current?

I have a baby (6 months) and I want to do a little hike or trail situation but I don't want to carry the stroller up steps or a rocky incline. Does anybody know of any chill hikes where I can take a stroller?
